1 The Mystery Of The Abandoned Theme Park

College adventures-Chp 1

Jaimie groaned as she made her way to the main door to sign in at reception, the other students were chatting to each other enthusiastically, some were sitting down at study benches and some sat on the floor either alone studying or with other students. "Why did College have to start today? Why not tomorrow?" She asked herself. Jaimie held her backpack with one hand and her art folder in her other."Hey Jaimie! How's your first day so far?" a familiar voice asked her, as they wrapped their arm around her.

"Oh! Wei, it's been okay, just going to sign in." She tried her best to smile at her masked best friend .

"Aha, no need. We don't sign in here, we go to our lessons." Wei gave a small chuckle.

Jaimie gave a nervous laugh as she stopped walking, her face red from the sun. The two started walking around campus. Wei showing Jaimie her favourite spots to sit and study, "Right here" . she pointed at a small rock with pillows ," is the best place to study, comfortable and quiet. Not many students come here, it's a bit like it's abandoned ." she cackled at her own joke

" Uh, that's nice." she frowned in confusion as they stopped.

"Jaiiii! Come here!" a maculine voice yelled as it got closer.

"Uhm? Who is that?" She furrowed her eyebrows.

"A friend of mine, i've told him all about you!" Wei grinned.

The man approached her with a bag of Tangy Toms, an old make of crips.

" Jaiiiii i've heard so much about you! " he came to a stop in front of her.

"Ew, don't call me that!" She furrowed her eyebrows even more.

Something off was about this guy, they've never met each other once in their lives but he's acting all nice and friendly already.

" Before I say anything else, have you heard that there's an abandoned theme park nearby?" the man grinned mischievously at Wei.

" So? It's old history why would we go the-"

"Because there were murders there, ones that aren't solved. People say the murderer still hangs around in it."

" So?! Wouldn't it be stupid if we go there then?" Wei responded, shaking her head.

Jaimie thought about it for a while as the other two rambled on about their argument.

" We should look up the history of it." she mentioned

"Jaimie, that's a great idea!" Wei shouted.

Finally the two agreed, Jaimie sighed and sat down.

"Ugh my legs ache. I've been standing too long, can we go to my house or at least the library?"

"Yes we may! How about the local library?" Wei suggests. "It's the best place to chill and take a break, while researching things."

The group sat at a table in the library. A lot of students from other places stared at the three. They did look odd, muttering about an old theme park, arguing over if they are going or not.

"Can't we just go! I don't want to spend hours on research and writing!" Wei's friend said. His name was Hun June

"No, Jaimie glady offered to look it up for us!" Wei Muttered.

"Shh!" An older lady at the main desk shushed the two.

"Oh! Sorry Ma'am!" Jaimie gave a soft smile as she looked up at her.

The woman smiled back and nodded her head slightly.

"Okay so it says here that it's called 'Pripyat' . It had its grand opening on the first of May 1968. But closed down on the twenty-sixth of April due to the Chernobyl disaster that happened a few kilometres away." Jaimie told her friends.

A small group of students were headed their way. As they heard the word 'Pripyat' , they froze for a second. Then they continued walking towards them.

"Oh no no no, we can't be friends if they are planning to go to Pripyat's old abandoned theme park!" a female spoke in distress.

"Oh, Kris, calm down! It's fine they could just be looking up its history." a male spoke, softly to calm Kris down.

The others in the group nodded agreeing with him.

" Okay fine, but if they want us to come, then it's your fault Max." , the female, Kris, said.

The group walked up to the table as Jaimie was typing into her computer, there was a bang on the table, "What's up Pripyat freaks? Oh and Wei… who's your new freaky friend here?"

"Go away Max….We are just studying about Pri-" Wei tried to calm down the situation, but was interrupted by Jaimie.

"Don't call us that! We are not freaks and my name's Jaimie.. If you would talk to your Mother like that, I bet she wouldn't like it, would she? Maxine Mayhem." , Jaimie grinned as she spoke.

"How do you know my name?! I don't even know you!"

Jaimie's grin widened as he went pale,

"I'm Jaimie Mayfield. Your childhood ex best friend. OhI also still have your mothers phone number… and we still talk abt cafes and old libraries sometimes."

"I thought Mother got rid of your phone number! I-I watched her delete it!" Max stuttered in shock and disbelief.

"That's not how it works. But Enough! Now leave us to our studies." she put her hand up and turned her head, shooing Max away.

"B-But I need to know how she-" Max tried to ask, failing.

"Max, we should just go now." Kris intervened as she pulled him away, mouthing sorry to Jaimie and placing a folded bit of card on the table.

Jaimie sighed as she picked the card up. She opened it up to see that it was Kris's number and some text.

It read "Sorry about that Jaimie, call me if you ever need anything." A winky face was in the top left corner.

"Woaahh Jaimie, when did you learn to talk like that?" Wei was in disbelief.

"I went to an old academic private school, where I learnt how to walk like a lady and talk like a lady." , she replied.

"That's amazing Jaimie!" The other two spoke at the same exact time.

"Ah, thank you!" Jaimie giggled nervously.

"Ughh…i'm so tired." , Hun June muttered and put his head on the table.

"How are you tired?? You've done nothing! I and Jaimie have been writing for the last six hours!" Wei groaned as she lent her head on Jaimie's shoulder.

Jaimie was still writing and researching Pripyat, "You guys are tired?"

"Nope, I'm still buzzing." Hun June replied, face down on the table

"Hey, young ones, the Library is closing soon.." , the older lady at the desk wandered up to them.

"Ah okay ma'am we'll go in just a minute! " Wei gave her a soft smile

The group packed up and put their books away. As they walked to the exit, a strange man passed by. He dropped a big book in Jaimie's arms. "Don't worry it belongs to me." , said the man. Before they could ask him anything, he was gone.

The cover had blood stains on it… fresh blood.
