1 Introduction

"Listen you two this would be the only chance you'd ever get to make some difference and you'd meet some important people like the-"

An imperial officer was trying to recruit me and my once brother in law Ryan into The Empire's so called Army.

"Shut the hell up! We already said no so piss off!" Ryan shouted at the officer pissed off.

The Imperial officer walked off mumbling to his men and cursing us.

"Let's just get out of here These guys killed my mood . Let's go to Adventurers guild maybe there's a D rank quest we can take on and burn some time." I said to Ryan getting up from the outdoor seat of a tavern we we're eating at.

"Here's 6 copper pay the lady in there and let's go. "

Ryan turned to me and grabbed the copper coins right out of my hands and stomped off into the tavern clearly pissed off at me now rather than the Officer. When he came back out I turned around and started walking in the direction of the adventurers guild with him following behind me. Even though I was wearing my white full face mask and my black enchanted cloak covering the back of my head along with everything else other than the bottom of my logs and my black ground dragon leather boots.and wasn't even facing him I could still feel his stare in the back of my head.

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" Ryan asked loudly and clearly angry.

"What are you talking about?" I asked calmly.

"You should be just as pissed as me! Did you forget about Sasha and the village that easy?!"

I'd had enough I grabbed Ryan and pulled him into an alley. Once in the Alley I kicked him in the stomach and punched him across the face knocking him down to the ground with his nose bleeding.

"They were my family! I've changed but I'm not that! I loved Sasha just as much as you did! She was my wife for fucks sake!" I was so angry I felt like I was gonna kill Ryan but half of that anger just turned into sadness and I leaned against a wall took off my mask and started crying my eyes out. "I loved her I loved her more than anything! She was even pregnant when died!"

Ryan seeing me of all people break down like this really hit him hard and he felt angry with himself. He got up and reached his hand out to me "Look I'm.... I'm sorry it just seemed like you were taking it like nothing happened and I was being a dumbass and.... I'm sorry for bringing it up. I didn't even know she was pregnant I'm a shitty brother in law a shitty brother and an even worse friend I'm sorry about what I said."

I started to whipe the tears from my face and grabbed his hand and he pulled me up. "She was your sister so I understand that you would be pissed it's just I'm trying not to think about it. Whenever I do I end up getting emotional. Sorry for punching you like that. let's just get to the Adventurers guild Maybe a mission will clear our heads."

"Yeah let's go I wanna forget about this." Ryan said as I put my mask back on. Ryan and I left the alley and started making our way to the Adventurers guild. "

Ryan Pov:

'Crap I thought Dave stopped caring about everything If I knew that he was trying to hold back all of that I wouldn't have gotten angry. I didn't even know Sasha was pregnant when she died crap! I was her brother I should have known and I'm Dave's brother in law why would I think he would have stopped caring about her! he devoted everything to her even when we left the village to get work at the guild he still worried about her. I should've kept my mouth shut.' Ryan felt terrible when he saw Dave a guy who could cheer up anyone just by talking to them broke down and cried like that.

Dave's Pov:

'Dammit I really went overboard but.... I loved Sasha I just lost control and broke down. Maybe i should get him a drink or something. I can't believe I lost control like that. I can talk about normal but I lost control back there. Crap this is probably gonna make us talking normally kinda awkward." Me and Ryan continued walking to the Adventurers guild.

Once We got to the adventurers guild we were met with looks from 3 tables. Unlike Ryan I had a mask covering all of my face and decided to take a look at everyone I recognized some of the people from table one as 5 person team of rookie adventurers consisting all E ranks I could tell by the badges around their necks. Table 2 consisted of a 4 person group of Adventurers consisting of 1 Male and 3 females. I couldn't see their badges but by their gear they were probably D ranks except for a girl who looked like a nun she was either their healer or a holy magic combatant by looking at her necklace and her staff you could tell she was atleast B rank. Lastly Table three was a group of all women that looked to be All A rank. As both I and Ryan Made it to the quest board at the quest board. The young man who looked 16 from Table 2 walked up to both me and Ryan and asked excitedly "Hey what rank are you guys."
