16 Ch 16: Keanu Reese

{1st Person POV}

"Keanu Reese?" Mr. Christopher mumbled.

He then looked up at me, and asked. "Is this who you want?" He tilted his head with a questioning look.

"Yes." I asserted confidently.

"Hmm, I'm pretty sure he only recently got popular due to his role in 'Across the Stars'." He explained. "I don't know just how good of an actor he is, so I think you should wait before choosing him."

I really wanted to say "I already know how great of an actor he is!", but that'd be weird considering neither I nor Mr. Christopher knew Keanu existed.

So, I did the best thing I could.

"I have a feeling that he'll be a good choice. Can you set up an appointment on 3rd November? I'd personally like to meet him." I explained.

"Sigh. Alright, I'll contact him. Now, can we please pick the other's?"

"Sure."

And so, the rest of the day went along with me choosing some highly acclaimed actors.

Overall, I think  I did a good job with picking the ones with the most acclaim and star power. Mostly because the era of IP-driven films was still only starting, and it was weaker than in my old world.

3rd November, 2007

{1st Person POV, Keanu Reese}

I was currently walking to a table  inside a 3-star restaurant.

Why was someone like me, who wasn't able to afford to go to a restaurant like this, here? Because I was contacted by SkyMount studios that one of the directors they were funding wanted to have me in their next movie.

And that's why I was here, to meet that director.

Soon, I came close to a table, where a young man in early 20s was sitting.

"Thank you for bringing my client." He expressed his gratitude to the guide with a warm smile.

"It was no problem, sir." And so, the guide left the two of us alone.

The man motioned for me to sit down, which I followed.

After sitting, I sat there, not knowing how to engage in a conversation.

Hell, I didn't even know of this really was the director I was supposed to meet, but from the way he talked earlier, it might be the case.

"Ahem." The young man coughed. "Hello Mr. Reese, I'm Oliver Knight, and I was the one who called you here."

Wait, Oliver Knight? That new director who's been on the front pages of the news for quite a while? That Oliver Knight?

I guess that does clear my confusion if he even was the person I was supposed to meet. But at the same time, why did he contact me?

"I really liked how you played the role of Andrew in 'Across the Stars', and so, I want you to play one of the characters in my upcoming film." He explained.

'That makes sense, I guess.' I thought. 'But still, to choose me over so many other actors just off of how I played one role is a bit unprofessional.'

However, I'm not fully convinced. I mean, why would a successful director approach me of all people? With his status, I'm sure he can get more popular actors to star in his movies.

I realised that Oliver was staring at me, probably expecting me to say something.

"O-oh, I really appreciate your compliment." I brought both of my hands before me. "It's just that… this is a bit shocking for me, you see." I explained.

In return, Oliver just nodded. "I can understand how you feel, Mr. Reese. But I'm genuinely serious about casting you in my movie. I have full freedom to cast whoever I like, and that's why I chose you."

He wasn't done yet, however.

"I promise you that if you accept this offer, your acting career will only soar higher. If this movie is a success, then I'd like to have you in more roles as the main character in my future films. Also, this movie doesn't have only one main character, there are two. You'd be one of them. Plus, you'd get to work with several A-listers. So, how about it?"

After listening to all that, I was really tempted to accept his deal. But, should I really bet my future on him? What if the movie is a colossal financial and critical failure? What would I do then? My career would be gone, while the A-listers would have only suffered a setback.

I took a deep breath and answered.

"I'm sorry. It's just that, I'm not sure if I can bet my future on this one film."

Oliver sighed, which was expected. However, what he said after was NOT expected.

"Alright, give me your email. I'll send you the script. Read it and THEN decide if you really want to bet your future on me."

I was surprised. Just how much does he want me? Am I really that valuable? What does he see in me that neither I nor others do? Is he a psychic or something?

Though, reading the script won't hurt me, so I guess giving him my email is fine.

He took out a notepad and a pen.

"Uh, its ********@gmail.com." He jot down the email and smiled at me.

"Thank you for giving me your time and coming here. You can eat as much as you want, the bill is on me." Saying that, Oliver stood up from his chair.

"I'll be taking my leave, then. And please give my film a shot. I'm sure you won't regret it." And with those parting words, Oliver Knight left.

I sat there in quietness for a while, before realising something.

"Wait, did he say I can eat as much as I want?" And so, I ate a ton of food while thanking Oliver.

{1st Person POV}

"Phew. That went pretty well, if I do say so myself. Now, I just have to meet the other actors, and finally the filming will begin."

I said while stretching my body. I had been sitting there for a whole hour, and my body had gotten sore.

I walked towards a car that was supposed to be my taxi ride to the SkyMount studio. I opened the door and got inside, and soon, the car started moving.

A/N: And here's chapter 16! I know it's not that great of a novel, but I'm really happy that people are excited about this.

I wanted to fit more in this chapter, but decided against it. The pacing would be weirder than it already was, and it would be a bit too bloated.

I think my biggest flaw as a writer is that I suck at detailing, naming and pacing.

Anyways, see you on the weekend! (Hopefully)
