14 Ch 14: Peace After A Long Time
{1st Person POV, Oliver}
I was quite shocked, to say the least. What I was currently seeing was... absolutely Amazing!
' 'Halloween' grabs one of the biggest horror openings ever with $27.5M.' Articles like these were gaining traction very quickly, with 'Halloween' becoming the talk of the town in many movie forums. Can't blame them considering basically nothing was out
And me? I was happy as hell.
As the Article said, 'Halloween' just had one of the biggest openings for a horror movie, EVER. This was no small deal.
I had stopped myself from looking at the box office numbers for the weekend till Monday, aka today. It had even gotten a B+ Cinemascore, which was insanely high for a horror movie.
I'm sure I was about to get congratulated on this big success, what with 'Halloween' having already broken even.
However, I didn't have time for that, at least not now. I had to write the script for 'The Departed' and send it to Mr. Christopher. After all, If I have the script, then why not just make it? Plus, it is a highly acclaimed movie, which will help my image a lot.
And I wanted to make big budgeted movies anyways, so starting with a movie as good as this would be great for experience gaining, Christopher Nolan style.
So, I put my phone away and brought the system screen.
Appearing out of nowhere and forming in the air, It was the same old blue translucent screen.
"Haven't seen you in like two months." I said and went through the 'Storage' section. There, I found the screenplay for 'The Departed', laying there innocently, ready to be devou- *ahem*. Anyways, I clicked on the screenplay and went to the consume button.

Clicking on the [Yes] option, I felt a familiar feeling of the knowledge about 'The Departed' filling my brain. And just like before, it caused me a migraine.
'I don't think I'll ever get over this feeling.'
However, this migraine lasted longer than it did for 'Halloween'. Due to this, I had to lay on the bed for a few minutes before the migraine became bearable.
Laying on the bed, I had a thought.
Maybe the migraine lasts longer or shorter depending on how many pages there are in the script. I mean, it would make sense, considering this was the longest migraine I've had, up there with Night at the Museum.
But I didn't dwell much deeper into this matter.
Afterwards, I opened the screenwriting program and started writing 'The Departed' down, far faster than when I was writing 'Halloween'. I attributed this to the fact that I had written two more screenplays between 'Halloween' and this.
I spent my days cooped up in my shitty condominium, writing down 'The Departed'. I had informed Uncle that I wouldn't be picking up the calls for some time so he wouldn't get worried.

23rd October, 2007
"Phew! That's finally done!" I said, relieved that this massive pain in the ass called 'Writing a script had ended.
I spent the last week writing the screenplay for 'The Departed', and occasionally took breaks for food and rest. I hadn't checked any news related to 'Halloween', so I had no clue as to how much it had made.
"Man, I really want to check the news. Waiting is just gonna make me more agitated." I muttered.
Really, I was super excited to check the discussion and news about my (not) movie. It just feels nice, you know? It's the culmination of my hard work, after all.
But before all that, I need to send this screenplay to Mr. Christopher and his buddies.
He was quite clever, but It did feel a little weird just how hard he was trying to get me to work with Sky Mount. I guess they really wanted to cash in on my future endeavours, huh? Quite the strategy.
As they say, the early bird gets the worm.
Get chummy with me when I'm still small, fund what I want to make, and if it's successful then they'll continue funding my movies till one of them flops badly or has a controversy. Or alternatively, tie me down to them if I try to leave Sky Mount for another studio by pulling the 'We helped you become what you are right now card.'
However, I wasn't dumb. Not saying I'm a genius, either, but you'd have to be extremely stupid to not realise what Sky Mount's plan is.
I really don't want to get tied down to one studio, so I'm thinking of switching studios here and there, and later on making my own production studio, with a distribution channel farther down the line.
Oh god, I went off track there didn't I?
Anyways, I sent the screenplay in a PDF format to Mr. Christopher, and then looked up articles about 'Halloween' and got myself some coke.
Because coke is eternal.
I nearly choked on the coke, however, after seeing the news headlines.
Stuff like ' 'Halloween drops just 32% in 2nd weekend, best for a horror movie in a long time.', ' 'Halloween' crosses $50 million domestically.', ' 'Halloween' is already making profits for Red Fox and here's why.' Were being uploaded.
And this was a big deal. Horror movies generally drop higher than 55%, even for ones that are well received, so 'Halloween' dropping just 32% is insane. Though, a 32% drop is a huge deal for most movies in general.
I guess the closet comparison would be 'Smile' from my old world, which only dropped like 20% in its 2nd weekend. Though that's still a large gap.
Not wanting to die from all the good news, I checked the forums to hear what the Internet had to say. And to no ones surprise (I guess), the forum posts were all incredibly positive, even after two whole weeks, which isn't really that much long to be honest.
However, I did find one post that was negative of 'Halloween'.
Here's what they said:
'I watched Halloween: It was bad.
As the title says, I watched Halloween on Sunday and found it be bad. I have no idea why it has a 95% on RT. It's quite a boring movie, and doesn't even make you feel scared. It's more of a thriller than a scary movie, but I guess that's how slashers are. It was also way too goofy at times for a modern horror film. What do you think?'
And as expected, the guy was flamed.
'What the hell did you expect? some Shakespeare shit?', 'It's goofy because its paying homage to the slashers of the old, ya knucklehead.', 'Dunno bout you, but I felt plenty scared in the last thirty minutes. Like yeah, it's more of a thriller, but it's still scary. Maybe you're just desensitised to this kinda stuff, idk.', 'Make a better movie' etcetera etcetera.
I did agree with the guy a little. He shouldn't have been flamed though, after all, he was just expressing his opinion.
Ah shite, I feel bad now.
And so, I spent the next few hours browsing through discussions and opinions about me and 'Halloween'.
And then fell asleep on the chair.

Anyways, sorry for not getting this chapter put yesterday. I was reading some more mangas because I didn't really have nothing do, and didn't really know what to write in this chapter anyway.
I also have some more bad news: Chapter 15 will released on Tuesday, June 6th (For any future readers), and the chapter releases will be shortened to 2 per week from 3.
