33 Set Out (2)

The episode ended there, and Arren returned his attention to the matter at hand. Arren wore more casual clothes the majority of the time. In any case, he can wear whatever he wants. After all, he was only going to see some bastard in prison, so he didn't need to worry about his clothes.

Of course, Arren would never forget the scent blocker. While it seems unnecessary this time, he had to wear it as it was required and Arren was used to wearing one outside. He then placed his phone and wallet in a small shoulder bag and was finished. Arren simply brushed his blue hair with his hand and was ready to go.

When Arren returned to the living room, the alpha remained in his position, talking on the phone. His voice was hushed, making it difficult for Arren to eavesdrop on their conversation, not that he would. From Arren's perspective, the alpha's handsome face was perfectly outlined, and even the way the alpha stood exuded absolute authority and dominance.

Arren remained motionless, staring at the alpha. One reason was that he didn't want to bother Spade, and the other was that Arren was captivated by the alpha's figure, which he couldn't help but admire. He thought the alpha was extremely attractive.

It didn't take long for Spade to notice Arren's presence. Arren noticed the way the alpha looked at him, and his deep amber pupils didn't separate from him as the alpha spoke on the phone. Arren simply stared at the alpha without moving his gaze. He discovered that the atmosphere had become strange, but he liked it.

This ambiguous and silent connection between them seemed to grow stronger over time. Arren knew he wasn't the only one who felt it, and the alpha was no exception. It wasn't bad either; the situation still required them to get to know each other. They weren't in a hurry, though; they had time.

Spade didn't keep Arren waiting long. Arren overheard the alpha say a few words before hanging up and putting the phone in his pocket. Arren didn't move but remained where he was, and it was Spade who walked the distance between them, with a few short strides from the alpha, Spade was now closed and in front of Arren.

"I'm done, when can we go?" Arren smiled, not attempting to shake off the vague but comfortable air.

Like they had an unspoken understanding, Spade did the same and answered normally, as if everything were fine and normal. "We can go now," he nodded, his gaze deep at Arren's, which the latter bravely meets. "Is this really what you want?" Spade asked Arren again as if confirming one last time.

Arren was not easily fazed, and he was bold and liked to take the initiative most of the time. His beautiful phoenix eyes shine as he gave the alpha a sweet smile. His striking and delicate face beams which even a superior alpha like Spade couldn't help but be attracted to and wouldn't want to look away.

"Of course, this is why I sneaked out of the house, remember?" The playful tone that Spade was so used to reverberated in that majestic but silent room.

The alpha opened his mouth and seemed to want to say something to something, but then he closed it again, and Spade just nodded. Arren interpreted it as the alpha finally agreeing with him completely. He gave the alpha an assured smile.

The decision was made, and they began walking toward the door, Arren following the alpha while remaining silent. Arren arched his brows as they exited the room and saw the bodyguards bowing to the alpha. They didn't say anything, but their respectful demeanor caught him off guard. They were most likely the alpha's subordinates.

So his guess that the alpha had a higher status may have been correct. Arren was still unable to connect with the Emperor because bodyguards were so common among nobles that even he in the Katz households had them. He didn't like them following him, so he used to trick his father into not sending him bodyguards to the capital.

Arren remained silent at the side, but the guards' sneaking glances at him did not escape his notice. He was perplexed for a moment, but he assumed it was just a normal reaction to seeing strangers with your master. Arren had made a decision regarding the identity of the alpha. After their visit to Ashton, he would truly ask the alpha his name. He had to find out this time.

When the alpha placed a hat on his head, Arren raised his head and looked confusedly at the alpha, "Do I need this?" he asked, reaching out and touching the hat.

The alpha nodded and gently touched his head to ensure the hat was properly worn and fit. "Yes, you needed it for the time being,"

"For the time being?" The alpha didn't elaborate, so he had to ask again.

The alpha only nodded again, "Yes, for the time being." He only answered vaguely again, which made Arren glare at him. Might as well not answer, no? However, the alpha didn't have any intention to tell him, as the alpha only gave him a small smile.

He rolled his eyes, knowing that asking the alpha would be pointless. He wouldn't ask him again if he didn't want to tell him everything in detail. Arren was never that curious person.

After the alpha made sure he was ready, they stepped into the elevator with some of the bodyguards. Arren also stopped teasing the alpha during that time because they were with other people. The ride was silent, not long after and they reached the ground floor. They stepped out of the alpha, and he also didn't even notice that Spade was already wrapping his arms around his body.

His attention was diverted by his surroundings. Because he didn't have a memory of this entrance, Arren didn't know that the hotel also has a backdoor like this. It was also not surprising, which was understandable given the hotel's size.

Arren, on the other hand, thought the backdoor was well hidden and that something wasn't quite right. He couldn't put his finger on it, but the feeling was there. Whatever it was, he shrugged and tossed the thought.

Spade and Arren walked to the car while being guarded by bodyguards. The security stunned him, what was going on? In the distance, he noticed some men dressed in suits. Everything was on high alert and vigilant; did they have to act that way?

When they were in the backseat of the car, about to leave, Arren couldn't stop himself from asking Spade beside him, "What's going on?" He was perplexed; the number of guards was insane. It was as if the Emperor left the palace and was escorted by his royal guards.

"What do you mean?" Spade, who was leaning back in his seat, asked Arren.

Arren pursed his lips and rolled his eyes; this alpha enjoys acting foolish.

"Why so many bodyguards?" His tone was a little loud, and he was certain the driver could hear it. He didn't give a damn.

Arren was perplexed; he was certain that the bodyguards he saw numbered no more than twenty or something in that range. Even his father, the Duke, had only five or six bodyguards with him at all times on normal days. The number of bodyguards accompanying them was greatly exaggerated. Were they under any kind of threat? Did the mastermind track him down here? No, Arren shook that notion because no matter how bold the one who wanted to harm him was, he wouldn't move here unscrupulously.

Just like earlier, the alpha only answered vaguely, "The bodyguards are necessary."

"Why?" Arren asked again, his patience wearing thin.

"For safety," the alpha calmly answered again.

Arren scoffed and shifted his gaze away. He now decided not to talk to the alpha, as he couldn't answer seriously. So fucking hateful. He swore that after this visit, he would ask for the alpha's identity and name, or he would not meet him again.

When Arren turned away from the alpha, he didn't notice Spade giving a playful smile. Spade would tell his identity after Arren met Ashton anyway. The alpha shook his head and turned and looked outside, his smile didn't fade off for a long time.
