1 Prologue: The tale of the trees

People ever wondered if the legend was true. The stories that spoke of the houses, glowing gently in the moonlight. The golden rays that shone through the strong trunks and the breeze that rustled the leaves.

That didn't stop people from imagining, though. Children picked up wooden swords and pretended to battle, imitating the Golden Warriors of the Forest, brave and true. People had reverted from their old ways, living more sustainably and green, conserving whatever could be saved. Productions and plays were written about the forest, trying to reenact the lives of the Forest.

However, what worried people most was that no news of the forest was heard of after the ending of the Dark Days. The supplies sent out by the Forest stopped completely after the Great War ended and victory was declared by the Free Peoples. They feared the forest was fading into oblivion, never to be heard of again. Supplies sent to other lands by boat stopped coming. The rustling of the leaves stopped, though the occasional song was still heard.

Still, people hoped against hope, that the land survived, that the beings they looked up to still lived, and they kept their hopes alive.

Nothing more was heard of the Alpine Forest since then.
