Grand World Foundation

Though Meiying spoke questioningly towards her mother, her eyes, filled with the light of curiosity, never let the mystical tree before her leave her eyes. A strange connection enveloped her the moment she allowed the initial awe to subside. It wasn't one of knowledge, as if she had known it all its life. Or one of intimacy, as if she had had a close relationship with it. Instead, she felt the tree to be... apart of her.

Still, even given her situation, she made no rash moves towards the tree, and awaited instruction from her mother, knowing all too well her bringing her here was not a product of accident.

"Do you feel a connection?"

Her mother spoke out to her once more. Her voice filled with a sense of anticipation, with a hint of dread.

"I do"

Her mother had never felt this connection before, therefore unable to properly identify what she was truly feeling. Still, following what her predecessors had left her, there was only one way to identify such a thing.

"If you feel comfortable, go ahead and rest your hand upon its stem"

She didn't want to push her daughters' limits. Even she, the current Queen of the Elves, whose power she possessed was amongst the top of the world, didn't dare to lightly dally around the Tree, much less touch it.

This was because it was no ordinary tree, but one that even her ancestors had great reverence to. This was the Grand World Foundation, known also as the Foundation of Beginning, the lifeline of the Elfin world and the keeper of world stability. It in itself was said to single-handedly maintain worldly order, and supposedly existed before the first Queen of the Elves, and only found into existence after her connection with the law of nature.

Even now the attributes and what the tree serves is unknown. Evidently, even with the millions of years in its discovery, little is known about its relevancy to the current descendants of the first queen. Only what she possesses now is the lifelong collection of minuscule information from her many ancestors lives.

Few have touched the Tree even after confirming its connection. This was because, the Tree seemed to be... sentient. It itself chooses who it could touch, with, or without the beings complete connection. She already knew she was ruled out, basing by the sheer feeling of near fear she felt upon the prospect of touching it. Still, while no more than 3 in the past thousands of elfin queens have touched it, she felt not an ounce of discouragement to try.

After all, she felt her daughter... named Meiying by that boy... is special. It was a feeling that came from her heart, spurred on by no substantial evidence.

Without another breath from her mother, Meiying stepped forward, walking strangely, almost mindlessly, towards the Tree. As she slowly closed the distance, step by step, the Tree slowly illuminated. Its many branches began exhibiting light she had never seen before. As she watched her daughter near it, flora made of a beautiful soft, pure white light appeared near her feet as she grew nearer. The illusory light of the Tree grew to such a brightness that even she did not dare keep her eyes open any longer. Though, even with her eyes closed, the intensity of the light saw no obstacle as it protruded her eyelids, forcing her to turn her head away. She had never attempted to touch the tree, and there had been no records of the events in which a Queen, or one soon-to-be does become accepted by the tree. While she was wildly stunned by its reaction, she used her senses to keep watch on her daughter.

Meiying neared the tree. Her green eyes were no longer, instead, a pure white light shone in its place. Even with the Trees abnormal reaction, not a single muscle present on Meiying's face tightened when confronted with its magnicity.

Arriving within arms length of the tree, one would be able to notice just how enormous it was. She had never neared the tree, so when she witnessed her daughter walking for several minutes to reach the base of the tree, she knew nothing of which to think.

Her senses wouldn't lie. Was the Tree really that big? From the entrance to this special room, it seems no bigger than an ordinary tree. But now, even her palace wouldn't hold a candle to the sheer width of the Tree. Suddenly, her senses perceived the halting of footsteps.

Meiying remained in front of the Tree, her pure eyes taking not a rest from its eyesight. She stood there, mindlessly for a few seconds, before she began to raise her arm.

The mystical feeling in the room seemed to sky-rocket, creating an atmosphere so dense she felt she could no longer breathe, no longer fathoming how her daughter was able to stand so close.

The mystical energy creating the form of the tree pulsed, its energy expanding and contracting blindingly with its colour.

Meiying's hand slowly rested upon the tree.

The world stopped.

Sound seemed to be but a concept.

With it, the Trees light...

disappeared.
