POV: SCHOOL

The bell rang, signaling the end of the day at Elmwood High School. Seraphina, known as Shadow to her friends, gathered her books and started walking towards the exit with her best friend Suzain, whom everyone called Bestie.

Bestie was always into the supernatural and mysterious. "Hey, Shhh, listen to this!" she whispered excitedly to Shadow. "I found something fascinating today. It says it's possible that we might have our own parallel world!"

Shadow rolled her eyes playfully. "Bestie, you know I don't believe in such silly stuff. I'd rather focus on my academics."

"But imagine, Shadow, the existence of a hidden world beyond our perception," Bestie persisted. "Don't you find it intriguing?"

Shadow laughed. "I'll stick to the real world, thank you very much."

"But wait," Bestie grinned mischievously. "What about the paranormal activity? You don't believe in that either, do you?"

"Nope," Shadow replied confidently. "Where do you even find all these strange ideas?"

Just as they were about to leave the classroom, their teacher reminded them to maintain silence and form a straight line. The principal was patrolling the school premises.

Bestie had a plan in mind to prove Shadow wrong. "Let's play the Japanese horror elevator game!" she whispered.

"Japanese horror elevator game? What on earth is that?" Shadow asked, looking bewildered.

"Hurry, or we'll be left behind, and everyone will take all the bus seats!" Bestie urged, grabbing Shadow's arm and pulling her along.

POV: OUTSIDE THE SHADOW'S HOUSE, THE SCHOOL BUS STOPPED, WAITING FOR SHADOW TO COME OUT. BESTIE, AKA SUZAIN, SLIPPED A SMALL THIN BOOK INTO SHADOW'S SCHOOL BAG, TELLING HER TO READ IT. IT'S ABOUT THAT MYSTERIOUS GAME.

Later that evening, as the sun was setting, Shadow entered her room with the windows open, allowing a gentle breeze to sway the curtains. The view from her window was breathtaking, overlooking the city below.

As she sat on her bed, contemplating her studies, the memory of the mysterious book surfaced in her mind. "Bestie and her fantasy worlds," she sighed. "I should probably check out what she's so excited about."

Curiosity got the better of her, and she took out the book titled "The Elevator World." Intrigued, she flipped through its pages and discovered detailed instructions about a game that supposedly connected different worlds.

The rules seemed eerily real, cautioning her about the dangers involved. It sent shivers down her spine, yet a hint of excitement gnawed at her curiosity. "This can't be true," she whispered to herself, feeling a chill in the air.

Shadow couldn't resist the temptation to test the game if only to prove to Bestie how silly it all was. "Alright, why not? Let's see what this elevator game is all about," she said with a mix of skepticism and intrigue.

With trembling hands, she opened the book and began reading the first page. To her surprise, it was not what she had expected. Instead of instructions or a narrative, she found a poem:

"The more you read, the more you see,

Things happen the way you see."

The words struck a chord deep within her, leaving her even more intrigued. The cryptic verses seemed to hint at the power of perception and how one's beliefs might influence their reality.

As she continued reading, the words seemed to come alive, swirling with mesmerizing energy. Her imagination ran wild, and she felt an inexplicable connection to the poem's meaning.

With each passing line, she felt herself being drawn into the enigmatic world of "The Elevator World." It was as if the book itself had taken on a life of its own, inviting her to uncover its secrets.

Shadow shook her head, dismissing the poetic words as mere literary flair. "Hmm, poems are good, but the meaning of this book is nothing. Just poetry and stuff, maybe a few chapters," she concluded with a hint of disappointment.

Suddenly, the alarm bell rang, indicating that it was already 8:30 PM. "Damnn, it's 8:30 PM already? I am running late now. I need to finish a few chapters now, ahhh," she exclaimed, feeling the pressure of time.

Her mom's voice echoed from downstairs, "Sweety, dinner is ready. Come fast."

"I'm coming, Mom," Shadow called back.

Shadow hurriedly had her dinner, finishing it within 20 minutes, and then rushed back to her room to complete her studies. Time seemed to slip away as she immersed herself in her books and notes, trying to catch up on her coursework.

The clock ticked away, and it was already 2 AM. Exhaustion gnawed at her, but Shadow was determined to finish her study session. She fought off drowsiness, pushing herself to stay awake and focused.

However, her weariness eventually caught up to her. As the weight of sleep overpowered her, she unknowingly dozed off while sitting at her study desk, with her unfinished book and notes sprawled around her.

In her dream, Shadow witnessed a bizarre world with a flying cow, people walking on water, and wars raging everywhere. The dream took a dark turn when someone shot her, and she jolted awake as her alarm clock rang. It was 7 AM on a Tuesday morning.

Outside, the fresh morning greeted her with the pleasant chirping of birds and sunlight streaming into her room. "Thank God, it was just a stupid dream," she sighed in relief.

However, her relief turned to panic as she looked at the alarm clock. "Not again!" she shouted in frustration. She had overslept and was running late for school. Without wasting any time, she rushed out of her room, grabbing breakfast on the go.

"Hey, wait for me, Suzan! I am coming," she called out to her best friend.

"Hey, hi! So, ready?" Suzan greeted her.

"Ready for what?" Shadow replied, feeling confused.

"For the math test, Shadow. Today is the 8th of October, and today we have the test, right?" Suzan reminded her.

Shadow was shocked and couldn't understand what was happening. She felt numb and was on the verge of tears. "How is that possible? The test was supposed to be after 20 days," she protested.

But Suzan insisted, "No, stupid! Today is the day. Didn't you study for it? It's okay; I'm sitting in front of you; just copy from me."

Shadow was at a loss for words and utterly confused. In her mind, she wondered if she had somehow time-traveled. "How is that even possible? Did I time travel? But how? Damnn, I am only half prepared for this test. I was so excited for it, and now I know I am not going to do well," she thought in frustration.

Her anger reached a boiling point, and she couldn't contain her emotions. She shouted her frustration out loud, causing everyone in the classroom, including the math teacher, to look at her.
