Chapter 1: Water.

<p>The old orphanages gave shelter to many children who were affected by the 2012 bombing in California's small town. <br/><br/>The town was targeted as it was believed, that in 1823 a celestial body collapsed in a field there. It emitted such energy that it was consumed by a few people who were in the nearby area. They possessed powers, natural powers gained through the source of energy that helped them make their families and communities better.<br/><br/>In 2012 the bombing occurred in the same place because the celestial was still sending radiation waves in the ocean nearby. The bombing was done by The Zuturi Inventions and Co. It was a company on Earth 366 located in our Galaxy.<br/>They wanted to get their hands on the fragments that were still present in the soil and water. But their efforts went in vain. The bomb killed 500 plus people living in the small town and everything was devastated and  demolished. They found no element or power source.<br/><br/>The people who survived were given shelter in old age homes, centers and orphanages.<br/><br/>Martha Orphanage gave shelter to 13 kids. 6 girls and 7 boys. 6 of them were later taken by their families who lost them and found them. The other 7 met their new fate. <br/><br/>Days changed into weeks and weeks changed into months, by now some of them lost hope. They knew no one was alive to come back for them.<br/><br/>One girl in particular, knew what happened to her family. She didn't smile, she didn't talk, she rarely blinked or slept. She had a necklace and a piece of cloth in her hand from the day she came in there. Nobody wanted to be her friend because she never replied or played with the kids.<br/><br/>But one day, something strange happened that many eyes witnessed. She was recognized for the first time.<br/><br/>"What exactly happened?" A man dressed in black suit asked, lowering his voice and glancing at the girl sitting on the stool.<br/><br/>"No one can explain it. We all saw a huge wave coming into the garden. " The incharge said, glaring at the girl who was looking at her torn shoes.<br/><br/>"What kind of wave?" The man furrowed.<br/><br/>"Water." The incharge said with wide eyes. The man looked at the girl again.<br/><br/>"Are you sure she is the reason? " He asked again and the incharge scoffed.<br/><br/>"Our whole garden is filled with water. Ice cold water. You see children playing in that water. Don't you?" She said angrily and he sighed.<br/><br/>"I'm just saying it can be a leakage from the sewerage system. "<br/><br/>"Pipes! You think it's caused by Pipes?" The incharge spat.<br/><br/>"This building ran out of electricity and water in the morning. The staff was trying their best to fulfill the needs of these children because they felt hot and dizzy. All of a sudden we heard screams! She was about to drown the whole place if my husband didn't slap her!" She shouted and the girl looked up.<br/><br/>The man looked at the girl and their eyes met. She looked scared and her eyes were bloodshot.<br/><br/>"I promised you I'll pay for the damage. I need to make some arrangements. If you please give us some privacy. I would like to talk to the girl." <br/><br/>"Do whatever you want but get her out of here. She's a curse." She said, and the girl must have heard it because she wiped the tears in her eyes.<br/><br/>"Anything else that gives evidence that she is the reason." The incharge looked at the man in disbelief. <br/><br/>"We don't serve ice cold water. Her drink always had vapours erupting from it. We asked her but she never replied how she got it." She hissed angrily.<br/><br/>It seemed as if she was tolerating the girl for so long and now she's had enough.<br/><br/>"She's stubborn and has an anger issue. She doesn't listen. She keeps on clinging to old rags she had with her when she arrived."<br/><br/>"Will you please just give me a minute. Thank you for the information." He said again and she nodded.<br/>The man opened the door and the incharge went out. He closed the door and slowly turned the lock. The girl heard a click and she made a run for her life.<br/><br/>"Wait! Hey!" The man shouted chasing the girl in the corridor. She met the end of the room and started crying. He stopped, and gestured to her to stop.<br/><br/>"I'm not going to hurt you." He said and she shook her head.<br/><br/>"You locked the door." She said and he nodded.<br/><br/>"I did. Because I want you to show me what you are." He took a step close. The girl yelped and tried to go back further into the wall.<br/><br/>"It's okay! It's okay! Shh." He said and she gasped as she felt his hand on her shoulder.<br/><br/>"What is your name?" <br/><br/>"Sarah Maxwell." She whimpered.<br/>You do speak." The man chuckled and the girl kept staring at him.<br/><br/>"Your name is going to save you big time. Can you show me what you can do?" He asked gently.<br/><br/>"I can't." She said in a frightening voice.<br/><br/>"I know you're scared but I promise you I'll not hurt you. I am here to take you out of here if only you show me what you're capable of." He said bending down to meet her height.<br/><br/>"It hurts. " She said while wiping her face again, the tears never stopped. The man frowned as he saw her hands. He grabbed her hand and she quivered.<br/><br/>"Oh my god." He whispered in horror. Her hands had cuts and they were purple as if they were lifeless.<br/><br/>"Does your hand hurt?" He asked and she nodded.<br/><br/>He grabbed her other hand, it was just the same. He pulled out a small bottle and a cloth from his coat. He sat down on the floor and pulled the girl down as well. <br/><br/>"Hold still. This may help you." He said and dropped a few drops of the liquid on her hand. She screamed in pain as it burned her skin.<br/><br/>"Shit shit! " He said wiping it off. The healing potion had no effect on her. It made her worse. She pulled her hands away and turned them into ice.<br/><br/>The man looked at her hands in shock. He could not believe he found one of the pure elementals.<br/><br/>"Fascinating." He whispered and got up.<br/><br/>"What was that?" She asked as he put the bottle back in his pocket.<br/><br/>"It's a healing potion. It didn't work for you. I have no idea why." He said and she nodded.<br/><br/>"How old are you, Sarah?" He asked and she turned her hand back to normal. The cuts got deeper but the burns were not deep.<br/><br/>"12." She said and he nodded. The door banged loudly and it startled them both.<br/><br/>"Stay here. " He said and went to open the door.<br/><br/>"Have you seen anything?" The incharge asked and the man looked at the girl.<br/><br/>"No, she didn't show me anything. " He lied, "But I'm willing to pay for her. " He said and the in-charge, stared at the girl sitting in the corner.<br/><br/>"Fine. I got a call from Mr Maxwell. He offered the same. "<br/><br/>"How much?" <br/><br/>"2 million." She stated and the man nodded.<br/><br/>"Fine. You'll get your money in the next 30 minutes." He said. "Help the girl get her stuff packed. I'm waiting in the car." He walked out and the in-charge rushed towards the girl and aggressively pulled her out of the corridor.<br/><br/>The man walked towards his car. The weather was damp and it was drizzling. He looked at the garden. It still looked like a pool.<br/><br/>"Is she a monster? " Someone asked him and he looked at the person. It was a sweeper.<br/><br/>"No. She's just a girl." He said. He lit up a cigarette and transferred the money from his phone. He received a message from his partner, Maxwell. He looked up, understanding the message.<br/><br/>"Who witnessed it?" He asked the sweeper.<br/><br/>"Sorry?"<br/><br/>"The girl, using her powers. Who saw her?" He questioned.<br/><br/>"I did." The sweeper said. "And a few kids but, they screamed and ran away."<br/><br/>"Hmm." The man eyed the sweeper.<br/><br/>"You have a family?" He asked and the sweeper shook his head.<br/><br/>"No. I don't. I live here. " He said and the man nodded.<br/><br/>"Great. " He whispered and replied to Maxwell.<br/><br/>The girl was pulled out of the building towards the car. She just had a small bag and the man glared at the incharge.<br/><br/>"That's all?" He asked and she shrugged.<br/><br/>"You have the money to buy her new things. This is her punishment for destroying my lovely garden."<br/><br/>"Give me my necklace back." Sarah protested reaching out for the necklace the incharge held in the other hand.<br/><br/>"Ah! You cunning little rat!" She said putting it in her pocket and Sarah seemed to get angry and disturbed.<br/><br/>"Come on, Miss Donna. Give her the necklace back." The man said.<br/><br/>"I'm paying you 2 million for her. A necklace is all she wants. " He said and the incharge looked at the man.<br/><br/>"It was my necklace that she stole, Mr Nikolai. If it weren't for you I would've given her severe punishment." She spat and Sarah wiggled out of her grip.<br/><br/>"She's lying!" Sarah shouted and Nikolai grabbed her as she was about to charge on Miss Donna, the incharge.<br/><br/>"If it weren't for Max, miss Donna. I would've already killed you. So give her the necklace and I'll spare your life." He whispered darkly in her ear and Miss Donna looked at him in utter shock.<br/><br/>"Who do you think - " Miss Donna fell back as a water wave hit her, full of mud and grass. Sarah's right hand got worse.<br/><br/>"Give me my mother's necklace back."  Sarah shouted in a harsh tone and Miss Donna gasped for her breath.<br/><br/>Nikolai walked towards Miss Donna as the other staff members saw the scene. They started to yell and run towards Sarah, who was already a monster in their eyes. He pulled the necklace out of Miss Donna's wet coat and grabbed Sarah.<br/><br/>The door got opened from the inside and a fair looking agent came out. She held her gun, pointing at Miss Donna as Nikolai started the car. Sarah was safe in the back seat.<br/><br/>"Don't even try to take a step forward." She said, the people gasped as the bushes started to grow out of reach. The woman's eyes changed into green as leaves obeyed her.<br/><br/>"Let's go." Nikolai yelled and she sat back in the car.<br/><br/>"Is she the one?"<br/><br/>"I'm afraid so. Inject her." Nikolai said and Sarah looked at him with wide eyes.<br/><br/>"What! No!" She cried as the woman grabbed her both hands just in time and closed them in a fist, she injected a syringe on her neck. Sarah winced but she instantly fell asleep.<br/><br/>"Done."<br/><br/>"You're sure Maxwell will give us our money right? " The woman asked and Nikolai nodded.<br/><br/>He just needs his package to be delivered. Then we will get what we want.<br/><br/>"What elemental family does she belong to?" <br/><br/>"The second most dangerous Elemental. She's water. " He said. " She's just 12 and she can make ice already."<br/><br/>"That's impossible." The woman said who was in shock, as she looked at the fragile girl.<br/><br/>"I know. Her emotions are too strong. At such a small age. " He said and she nodded.<br/><br/>"Maybe she's seen death." <br/><br/>"This is a mystery only Maxwell can solve. Her name is also Maxwell." He said and the woman smiled.<br/><br/>"That bastard always gets lucky."<br/><br/>"He does." Nikolai chuckled. He looked at the girl from the front mirror. She was lying on the seat, deep in sleep. Her hands were still purple and cuts were deeper because she used her powers again.<br/><br/>"I hope the world doesn't find out about her." He mumbled and the woman looked at him.<br/><br/>"What about the scene we just created back there? " She asked.<br/><br/>"Maxwell said we need to take care of it."<br/><br/>He shivered as he pushed the red button in his car and the secret door opened.</p>
