When he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was a white ceiling and a luminous lamp. Shifting his gaze, he saw different types of medical devices were planted on either side of him and a curtain that shrouded his area from the outside. Assuming that he was in the infirmary, Kael slowly got up from his position because he needed to sort his thoughts.

Massaging the centre of his eyebrow, Kael feels like he woke up from a long deep slumber. In his sleep, he had a dream of his childhood. Oddly enough, he couldn't remember a single memory of that day until the dream came true.

"Was it just a dream?" Kael muttered in doubt. The dream felt so real that it's hard for him to distinguish whether it's real or not.

Just then, the curtain was drawn off, and the familiar figure of Maya greeted his sight, "H-hey, You. You're finally awake. I panicked when you suddenly decided to faint."

Her breath was unstable and looked disoriented as if she was running for a long time. Understanding that he was the reason for her current state, Kael rubbed his nose in embarrassment, "Thank you for bringing me here, and I'm sorry for being such a nuisance." He paused before scratching his cheeks, "And for your information, me fainting was unintentional."

Not knowing what to say, Maya rushed out of his sight after saying, "Ummm...Let me call the nurse first."

"O-okay, thank you," Kael replied.

Seeing her back gradually fading out from his view, Kael leaned his head to the headrest and tried to recall his dream earlier. He had a hunch it was related to something important.

"If I'm not mistaken, I hear something like...Assimilation?" As soon as Kael pronounced the word, a game-like screen appeared abruptly in front of him, startling the poor man.

"What the fuck is this?" Kael couldn't help but curse out in shock.

Right in front of him, is a notification screen which he frequently saw on the video games he frequently played.

Suddenly, the screen changed into a status screen where he saw many information displayed.

Seeing the stats were directly related to him, Kael went to skim through it attentively. Lines start to form between his eyebrows, "How the fuck is my intelligence only 9? It should be over 9."

Finding that he was talking nonsense, Kael shakes his head and proceeds to study the system further. As a gamer, who plays a lot of games, Kael's curiosity is at its peak at the moment.

He also noticed that there were other tabs other than status information. Surprisingly, just by a sheer thought, the tab changed into the other tabs he wished to visit. A glint of understanding flashed across his eyes.

"Woah!..." Kael exclaimed in surprise. Never did it ever cross his mind that he was actually capable of controlling 10 elements, excluding the second last one which apparently hasn't been disclosed yet by the system.

Although he has many questions revolving inside his head, such as, who gave him this system, what's that person's purpose, etc. Kael knows that he is currently in no position to inquire about such matters. Therefore, he throws the matter off his head temporarily and tries to explore the system deeper.

He was in a dilemma as to what ability, he should spend his point on. After pondering for a long time, Kael finally decides to assign his point on Fire Element, because of the previous test, he demonstrated fire ability.

"Can I really trust this system?" Kael mumbled in a distrust manner before shrugging his shoulders, "Well, whatever, there's no harm in trying."

Lifting his hand, Kael directed his palm at the curtain beside him, "Incinerate."

Instantly, he felt a peculiar force surge through his body, before travelling directly into his palm. At that moment, a fire ignites from the centre of his palm and promptly shooting straight toward the curtain. This makes Kael dumbfounded for a moment before crying out in panic, "Fire! There's a fire here!"

"Thank God it didn't escalate into something terrible." Kael patted his chest in relief.

After screaming with all his lungs, the nearby personnel immediately barged into his room and diffused the fire that almost devoured the entire curtain. It took him about a minute to extinguish the fire. Luckily, it was only Kael who was present in the ward. Therefore, it did not cause any commotion nor hurt anyone.

Afterwards, he gets confronted with questions regarding the source of the incident. Originally, Kael intended to lie, but after careful reflection, he finally told the truth that he accidentally burned the curtain.

Scratching his forehead with a pen, the personnel asked after heaved a sigh, "So, you're telling me that you're a freshman? And today is your first day at the academy, yet you've already caused such a mess."

Kael replied much to his embarrassment while lowering his head, "Y-yes."

Before the man could say more words, the door gently opened, and a middle-aged woman wearing a nurse outfit entered along with Maya.

As if detecting something, the nurse sniffed, her eyes glinted in suspicious, "What's with the burning smell?"

Shaking his head, the man pointed at the curtain with most of its colour turned black charcoal, "Your patient did this."

"My patient?" The nurse asked confusedly before glancing at Kael, "It's you?"

Scratching his head awkwardly, Kael nodded his head affirmatively, "Yes, ma'am."

Turning to Maya, the nurse whispered, "Your friend seems to be a troublemaker, young lady."

Maya immediately blushed and subconsciously refuted, "He's not my friend."

"Then, boyfriend?" The nurse smirked seeing Maya's ears turn red.

"Impossible." Maya screamed before becoming aware of her action and quickly lowered her voice, "We just met today."

"Oh.." The nurse stopped teasing her and turned to Kael, "I heard that you're a freshman?"

"Yes, I just performed the test around an hour ago."

"Then it's your lucky day!" Seeing Kael's confused look, the nurse explained, "The punishment for breaking the academy's property is a deduction on the perpetrator's point. However, this rule does not apply to you because your insignia has not yet been created."

Hearing her statement, Kael's face brightened. But at this moment, another person enters the ward. He surveyed across the room before asking, "Who's among you named Kael Lys and Maya Vluke? John Cenny ordered me to send both of your insignia."

Kael's face couldn't help but turn ugly, while Maya simply chuckled at the situation they were in.
