1 Eldritch's favored [1]

On the second night in the thirteenth month of the Pilinos Calendar, on the night the Northern Frost Comet only comes every ninety years.

To the other inhabitants of this world, it may seem to only be a beautiful sight that can be seen once in a lifetime, but for the clan in the north, it was a blessing.

Late at night, up in the north, in a manor that was shrouded by a blizzard, maids and servants are talking amongst themselves as they anticipated the birth of their lord's child.

"Congratulations master Caile, they're twins." Standing outside of a door, a woman in her middle fifty's happily spoke in front of a man.

"..." The said man in front of her had his mouth agape. He had a rather tall and studly figure, complimented by his dark hair, it would easily make one mistake that he was in his early thirties.

He was the current head of the Frostford Clan as well as one of the Dukes of the Arnasian Empire, Caile Augustus Frostford.

"Twins...? I got... twins...?" Caile silently muttered. It was clear from his expression that he was in a momentary state of disbelief.

"Yes," The woman nodded. She then touched the door handle behind her. "Ma'am Alicia should be resting right now, but you can come in and see your twins."

"...Alright," Caile said before entering the room.

The sound of the door opening rang around the room and Caile saw inside.

Laying down on the wide bed was his wife that was quietly resting. Her snow-white hair was neatly tucked behind her as she rested.

Beside her bed were three maidservants, however, Caile saw two of them holding something.

Caile walked over to his wife and sat on the bed next to her before gently grasping her face. 'Rest now...'

He then looked at the two maidservants near him and stood up. "Let me see them."

The two maidservants nodded and approached him. They then slowly showed the newborns covered in white cloth in their arms.

Just like the older woman said earlier, they were twins. Both have inherited the Frostford Clan's snow-white hair.

"Master Caile..." Suddenly, one of the maidservants spoke in surprise.

"What..." Caine was about to continue asking when he noticed something fall from his face.

It was a tear.

Caile slowly tapped his face and noticed that he was shedding two tears. For someone as stoic and rarely shows any emotions like him, this was certainly an enigma.

"..." For a moment, Caile didn't know what to say. However, in a second later, he extended his arms.

A blue circular pattern soon emerged from the tip of his hands. Consequently, after doing this, the two newly-borns that were in the hands of the maidservants floated as they were covered with a blue tinge of light.

And in just a second, the twins were placed in Caile's arms as he carried them both.

"It's surprising... isn't it...?" Suddenly, a voice rang out from behind Caile.

He turned around and saw his wife who had a soft smile on her face, her eyes looking a bit tired yet showing happiness.

"Alicia..." Caile muttered as he sat back down beside her. "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine..." Alicia nodded her head slowly. She then looked at the two newborns in her husband's arms. "Their names... we argued what our child's name would be if they're a boy or a girl..."

"But since we got both..." She smiled at him. "Shouldn't we use both of our ideas...?"

Caile nodded. He then looked at the twins in his arms. "In that case..."

"Sophia Frostford..." Alicia spoke her daughter's name. Whereas Caile spoke his son's name. "Blake Frostford."

On this night, the twins of the Frostford Clan are not only born but have also been blessed by the cosmos.

Unbeknownst to everyone, the newborn known as Sophia had already received the gift of consciousness and awareness, albeit a bit.

The Constellation that walked among the icy planes and commanded the frost giants to other worlds— the Northern Star Constellation— has reincarnated.

'How limiting...' The newborn Sophia thought.

Due to a mistake she had made in her last campaign, her status as a constellation was stripped away and she was forced to face the gates of the underworld.

As a last resort, she used a forbidden art she had stolen from the Warden of the underworld and reincarnated to gain a second chance in life.

Because she has only been born, her body and mind were still not fully developed, as such, she could not stay conscious and aware of her surroundings longer and had to be a 'child'.

'Humans... I see...' She vaguely saw her surroundings, revealing her crystal-like blue eyes.

Caile noticed his daughter's eyes move and saw her eyes. He then spoke, "This... She even got your eyes..."

Alicia was surprised for a moment before she gently smiled. "Then that's the proof that she has a pure bloodline..."

"She'll be a great ice-type mage..." Caile stated his opinion.

"Seriously? Already deciding your child's fate?" Alicia sighed.

"...Forgive me." Caile shook his head as he sighed.

Although Sophia didn't understand what they were saying and what they meant, she understood one thing— they were her parents. 'Good...'

'For now, I'll temporarily sleep...' She thought before closing her eyes and falling into her inner mindscape.

'...What is this...' However, it seems like she was not the only special child in the household.

The newborn known as Blake opened his eyes, revealing his conspicuous luminous green eyes that seems to be glowing in the night.

"...huh?" Caile then saw his son's eyes and immediately noticed them. He saw the deep green eyes and instantly remembered something from the back of his mind. "This is..."

"He has your grandfather's eyes?" Alicia saw her son's eyes from the bed and spoke.

"...yes," Caile spoke as he remembered his grandfather.

Throughout the empire, everyone knows of the feats of the late emperor Heins Augustus Arnasian II.

After all, his campaign against the demonic continent has what brought many new technologies to the empire.

But what truly made him a revered emperor of his time was not his campaign, but the procedure.

His brutal and bloody method of advancing through the demonic continent had both benefited and damaged the empire.

Every day, many young men of that time died in the campaign— yet Heins did not bat an eye on them and continued marching forward.

Eventually, they managed to build a stronghold and secure a port in the demonic continent.

Unfortunately, due to the constant exposure to demonic energy, the late emperor died before he can even reach his late forties.

His most identifiable feature was his deep-green luminous eyes that seem to pierce through the dark and see what a person truly is.

"He seems to have inherited those eyes..." Caile said as he looked at his son. He then hugged Blake closer. "I just hope that he won't end up as that man..."

"..." Alicia looked at her husband and understood his worries.

That is because... ever since Heins died, no other heirs have inherited his eyes. In fact, Heins was the first and last in the royal bloodline to have 'those' eyes.

...until now, that is.

Alicia extended her hand and touched Caile's arms. "Don't worry... we'll make sure to guide him properly..."

"Yes..." Caile nodded as he touched his wife's arm.

There is a rumor going around the aristocratic circles that whoever in the royal bloodline inherits Heins' green eyes would inherit his will and the soul of Heins would inhabit the inheritor... and reincarnate.

With Blake's eyes, this rumor was the first that went through Caile's mind, however, although this world revolves around magic, even something like reincarnation is not possible for the current head royal mage.

But there is one true thing... Blake— or rather the soul inside Blake— is a reincarnator. More specifically, a transmigrator.

Opening his eyes one more time, Blake looked around the room before closing them out of tiredness.

'...You have got to be kidding me...' The newborn thought. 'To think...'

'I'd reincarnate into a novel...'
