In the library

My footsteps echoed in the huge hollow building as I walked around with books in my hand. With much work to be done, I paced my speed to approach a bookshelf.

"Okay row 3, column 43", I looked up the top shelf and counted till three.

I sighed and got on the platform. I pulled the lever again and again till I reached the third shelf.

Carefully, I placed the huge book in place and started pulling the lever. I heard a crack as I did that but I didn't mind. I kept on pulling the lever when it suddenly went down.

"Ahh", I screamed and covered my head. With my eyes shut and screaming as loud as I could. I was prepared to have fractured bones.

But my body never touched the ground instead I felt a strong pair of arms around me and I clutched silky fabric on my hands.

"Wow..", I said as I looked straight at a pair of eyes as blue as the ocean looking straight at me. Hair as dark as the night and skin as pale as porcelain, charming to the point where I got hypnotized.

I slowly let go of the black fabric, his shirt pulled to the point where I could see a glimpse of his right pec.

"Planning to stay like this all day?",he said with a smirk," I mean we can, if-"

"Oh.. um", I said avoiding eye contact ,"I mean you can put me down."

He raised his brow and looked at me with a flirty smirk. After I nodded, he slowly put me down.

I took a deep breath. My heart was skipping a beat as I touched the ground. That was unexpected, very much so.

Am I in a book or something where this handsome man rescues me or something? Wait... don't get your hopes up. Leave it.

He started to walk away as I was conflicted in my head.

"Um.. Thank you!", I said loud enough for him to hear. He turned around and smiled.

"And I'm uh sorry." I said rubbed my shoulders. He nodded his head and started walking away.

Asterin, things like this happen once in a blue moon. At least ask him name or something.

"Excuse me", I said and he turned around.

"Are you baffled by my beauty or something?" He said with a haughty smirk.

Wait. Did he just boast about himself? I can't believe people have that level of narcissism.

"You know what? Nevermind. Just wanted to say thank you.", I said and turned around to get back to my work.

As I gathered the books in my hands I glanced back to see him gone.

"Pretty quick", I said to myself as I tried sorting out how anyone could enter the library at this time of the hour which is 4:00 am.

As I turned I was hit by a strong surface.

"Ouch", I rubbed my head and looked at his chest in front of me. I was completely taken aback.

"How-" before I could ask anything, he spoke.

"Pretty quick?", He said and tilted his head looking at me with those narcissistic yet mesmerising eyes.

"I don't want any inconvenience when I work. Now please leave.", I said, stepping aside avoiding eye contact, completely ignoring the fact that I was just shocked seconds ago.

"Ouch..."

"Inconvenience? to describe the person who just saved your life?" He tried to meet my eyes.

I sighed and closed my eyes, getting annoyed "Thank you so much for saving my life but I think I need to work right now. So, could you please leave me alone?"

"Umm maybe."

"What the hell is wrong with you? I just thanked you. Now I think we're even.", I dictated.

The room echoed with his high pitched laugh before his face hardened.

"You'll do as I say", he grabbed my arms tightly and he said looking straight in my eyes. I could see his pupils dilate and contract as he did that.

"If that's a threat then." I challenged.

I quickly took the pencil in my pocket and tried to stab him. With a swift move, he threw the pencil from my hand and crossed my hands behind my back. My breath heavy with rage.

"It doesn't work on you, Huh?" He said breathing heavily.

"Aww... that's cute. Did I make it obvious?"

"What the fuck do you want from me?!"

"Nothing.", He said as he smirked," just bored."

"I swear if you-", I said with my nostrils flaring.

"Shit. Mommy mommy help me" He pretended to wail.

Slowly I could feel his breath on my neck. He stroked my neck with his nose while I tried to keep myself steady.

"You know... You don't smell like other humans. So, I'm really curious", the smirk on his lips just got evil by minute.

With all my might, I loosened my hands and pushed him against the wall.

"Get the hell outta here." I glared at him with every drop of anger in me.

"Okay." He said and put his hands up " As you say, M'lady."

The smirk on his lips returned "If I were you, I would not mess with me."

"Oh really? Mommy mommy I'm scared help me" I mimicked him.

In a quick move I was against the wall with his hands around my neck, choking me.

He narrowed his eyes and his lips never left the smirk "You'll be a good time killer."

My throat closed minute by minute till k couldn't breathe anymore. He let go of me and I fell coughing for air. He started walking away.

"Nice meeting you." He said, turning around, looking at me struggling.

Next minute I was all alone in the whole room.

What the hell just happened?
