Shocking Revelation

A hand made of dark element particles rose from David's shadow, grabbed the gun lying on the ground, and passed it to him. He grabbed the pistol and aimed it at a capo, who was watching everything happening in sheer disbelief.

Only when the gun was pressed against his head did he snap to his senses. He screamed in fear, "W-Wait, wait, wait—"

BANG!

David then aimed at the other capo's head and coldly muttered, "You have sixty seconds to speak or I pull the trigger. Tell me, why are you after the detective?"

The capo ended up spilling everything under the sheer terror of death, coupled with the insane mystical things he had just witnessed. Meanwhile, Phil, who was utterly dumbstruck at all the things that had happened, suddenly snapped out of his daze when he heard David's voice.

Only now did he realize that the mysterious person who could conjure hands from shadows was actually the teenager he had been working with all along!

Suddenly, he recalled all the things Olivia had told him about Elena. He couldn't help but wonder if what she had said was the truth, but was abruptly jolted out of his thoughts by the sound of another gunshot.

He saw the head of the last capo being blasted apart like a watermelon and his headless corpse limply falling to the ground. Then he saw the hooded figure turn around and walk back the way he came from.

Phil got to his feet and called out, "David, is that you?"

Without looking back, David replied, "Go home, detective." With that, his body was enshrouded in darkness and he soon disappeared.

Phil looked at the shadowy passage, shock etched all over his face. The things that he had witnessed were straight out of a fantasy movie. He never would have believed it if he hadn't seen it.

All of a sudden, Olivia grabbed him by the shoulders and incredulously said, "Now do you believe me!? That kid is just like that rich bitch! They have the same eyes. I told you it was real!"

"Y-Yeah… I guess so." Phil himself was having difficulty believing it, but it was indeed real. His gaze then fell on the two dead capos beside him and he couldn't help but sigh. Although he would have liked to have taken at least one of them in alive, it didn't matter much anyway.

After all, now he had proof that the Rosettis had sent gangsters after them to silence them. That alone was more than enough to double down on the investigation of the crime family.

...

In the walk-in freezer of Bobby's butcher shop, David looked at the corpse that was hung on a metal hook, just like the skinned animals. The Rosetti gangsters had slashed Bobby's body with knives, then slit his throat and pulled his tongue through the resulting wound, and left his body there as a message.

A hint of sadness flashed in David's eyes as he muttered under his breath, "Forgive me…."

Bobby was the closest thing he had to a friend. The man had helped him quite a few times in the past and was the only one who'd never betrayed him. After having been told by the capo that he was the reason for Bobby's death, he was overcome by guilt.

He carefully took Bobby down from the hook and gently laid him on the ground. He then closed the corpse's eyes, which still shone with extreme unwillingness. He silently knelt beside the corpse for a long time, then looked at his shadow and softly asked, "Can you arrange a funeral for him?"

Natasha emerged from his shadow and took out her phone. After sending a text she looked at David and nodded. "It's done."

"Thank you…" David sincerely said. He then turned around and continued sitting in silence.

...

Inside the penthouse of a sixty-story skyscraper in Manhattan, a middle-aged man with blond hair and blue eyes was looking at the dazzling city skyline through the floor-to-ceiling window with a bored expression. He was wearing a gray suit and swirling a glass of red wine in his hand.

A servant wearing a butler's suit approached him from behind and bowed respectfully. "Master, Don Rosetti is here to visit you."

"Oh?" A hint of amusement flashed past the blond man's eyes. "Send him in."

"Right away, sir." The servant left, then a few minutes later, returned with Enzo Rosetti following him. After that, he left the room again.

Enzo looked at the man in the gray suit who was drinking a glass of wine and looking out the window and respectfully greeted, "I pay my respects, Don Luciani."

The blond man, Antonio Luciani, turned and looked at Enzo with a smile full of disdain. "Look how far you've fallen, Enzo."

Enzo could only lower his head in shame. What Antonio had said was indeed true. Because of a stupid mistake made by his son, everything he'd built had come crumbling down. With no other options left, he could only come and seek help from the leader of the five families one more time.

He dropped to his knees and desperately begged, "Please, boss. I really need your help. I know all this is happening because someone's trying to get revenge for David, who was killed because of the foolish actions of my son—"

"HAHAHAHA!" Enzo was suddenly interrupted by Antonio's loud laughter. He looked at the kneeling man and sneered, "You still don't know anything, do you?"

Enzo, who had discarded his pride and dignity to literally beg in front of Antonio, was suddenly taken aback by the man's remark. He couldn't help but feel frustrated as he replied, "I don't know what you mean, boss."

Antonio was about to reply when a figure dressed in black approached him and whispered something in his ear. After the figure drew back, Antonio looked at Enzo with a smirk. "Looks like your plan to kill the detective failed miserably."

"Impossible!" Enzo's eyes widened in disbelief. He knew seven people had gone to kill only two. It should have been an easy job and he couldn't fathom how his men could have failed.

Antonio chuckled, "And the person who saved the detective is none other than the same one that killed Nico and Marcel."

Enzo was speechless, and it took him a long time to come back to his senses. He looked at Antonio and pleaded, "Boss, you knew everything before I was made aware of it. Please, I beg you! Please, tell me the name of this person so I can redeem myself and save my family."

"Fine, I'll give you a hint," Antonio looked at Enzo with an amused expression. "They call him… the Bricklayer."

"I-It can't be!" Enzo was thunderstruck.

"And I'll tell you one more thing," Antonio added. "He's become something the likes of which mere mortals can't contend with."

Enzo instantly froze as he understood the underlying meaning behind the Luciani don's words. The first thought that came to his mind was to tell Lucia and Angelo to immediately leave the city, perhaps even the country.

A long time later, Antonio looked at the dazed Enzo being escorted out of his house, and couldn't help but chuckle. He then turned back around and resumed staring at the Manhattan skyline as he took another sip of his wine.

"Looks like things will finally get exciting in this ass-backward fuckin' city."
