Confession

David glided across the streets of Brooklyn with a nonchalant expression. He himself hadn't realized that what he had just done was practically impossible for any human to do without a proper spell model.

However, the life that he lived as a wyvern in his dream had been ingrained in his very bones. Thus, he jumped off the tower thinking that he was an actual wyvern.

It wasn't until a few minutes later that he realized that he was actually in the air. His eyes widened as panic set in. "H-H-How the fuck!?"

And before he realized it, his balance in the air was disturbed and he veered off in the direction of a metro bridge. As he saw the bridge enlarging in his vision, he couldn't help but curse, "FUUUCCCKKK!!"

BANG!

He crashed straight into the bridge and fell to the street below. The black element particles dissipated as he fell on his back. "Ugghh…." He caressed his head as he slowly got up to his feet.

Surprisingly, it didn't hurt as much as he had expected it would. He looked up at the bridge and could faintly make out a dent at the place where he had just crashed. He then looked around and was relieved that the street was empty, except for some homeless people.

Pulling the hood of his hoodie over his head, he immediately walked away. All the while he thought in shock, 'So the life I lived in that dream actually had consequences in the real world!?'

He was slowly beginning to understand just how much of a blessing that dream had been. All the things he'd done while dreaming had magically become muscle memory in reality. He decided to analyze the dream in detail when he got home and check just how much of it he could replicate in real life.

...

In the suburbs of New York, a black sedan came to a halt at the gates of a luxurious mansion. The passenger door opened and Elena stepped out of it dressed in all black.

She had a cold look on her face as she entered the compound. This mansion belonged to her family and was a vacation home they used whenever any of them came to New York.

A butler with black hair and black eyes stepped out of the house and respectfully bowed. "Good evening, young miss."

Elena approached him and asked, "Where'd you put her?"

"The human is locked downstairs as per your order," the butler dutifully replied.

"Good." Elena nodded and then went toward the living room. "Get her upstairs."

The butler bowed. "As you command, young miss." With that, he immediately walked toward the basement.

Elena sat on the couch in the living room, then took out her phone and dialed a number. A few moments later, she said, "Uncle, it's me…. Yes, I'm doing fine. Actually, I need a favor from you…. Yes, it's like this…."

She proceeded to explain about all the girls she had kidnapped and murdered. She even talked about the detective that she had kidnapped and imprisoned. After explaining everything, there was a brief pause on the other end of the line.

"…Yes, I wanna confess everything to the officials…. Yes, I know what it means." She stopped speaking and thought back to how things had gone between her and David.

'If this means he'll be willing to accept me again, the price is worth it,' she thought. Her eyes shone with resolve as she replied over the phone, "I'm willing to bear the consequences…. Yes, I'm at the vacation home in Scarsdale…. Very well. Thank you, uncle."

She hung up the phone and put it back in her pocket. Right at that moment, the butler came back upstairs with a handcuffed and shackled woman. He made her sit in front of Elena, unbound her, and left.

"Olivia, is it?" Elena looked at the woman across from her and coldly muttered, "Count yourself lucky, you'll soon be free to leave."

Olivia glared at Elena as she gritted her teeth in anger. "You think you can get away with what you did?" Even though she was angry, she didn't dare to make a move on Elena. She knew that the black-haired girl in front of her was different; it was almost like she wasn't a human.

After all, during the time she'd been locked up in this house, she had naturally heard a thing or two from the maids and servants—and sometimes even Elena herself, when she came to gloat to her.

"Is that a threat?" Elena scoffed. Her eyes suddenly narrowed. "Let me tell you something, lowly human. Even if I were to kill that fool sitting in the oval office, they still wouldn't be able to lay a finger on me."

Enraged that Elena would even dare to threaten the president, Olivia got to her feet and pointed at her. "How dare you!" She couldn't tolerate the thought of any criminal that thought they were above the law.

All of a sudden, a terrifying aura gushed out from Elena and drowned Olivia. The detective was so scared that she stumbled back and fell back down on the couch. Elena looked at her and coldly sneered, "Know your place, mortal."

Olivia began trembling in fear, and right at that moment, the door to the mansion opened and a group of people in suits walked in. Olivia looked in that direction and when her gaze landed on the man at the front, her eyes lit up and she exclaimed, "Phil!"

She got up and rushed toward him, then gave him a warm hug and completely broke down. Phil, on the other hand, was elated that his partner and goddaughter was safe and sound.

He warmly patted her head. "It's good that you're safe…." The two shared a heartfelt moment, then Olivia turned to look at Elena, who was still calmly sitting on the couch. Now that police and government officials were there, she had gained the courage to act.

She pointed at her and spat in hatred. "We must arrest this vile criminal." She looked at Phil and the people behind him. "Not only did she murder a dozen innocent civilians, but she also dared to kidnap and... and imprison…." Midway through her impromptu speech, she stopped speaking when she saw the looks on the officers' faces.

"W-What's the matter?" she asked, confused.

Phil looked at her and shook his head. "We can't arrest her."

"WHAT!?" Olivia's eyes widened in disbelief. She couldn't understand just what the problem was.

Right then, Elena got up from her seat and walked toward the group. She looked at Olivia and sneered, "You still don't understand do you?"

The next moment, the people in suits behind Phil came forward and handed a document to her. "Miss Moreau, here are your deportation papers. You're not to set foot in the United States from this day forth."

Olivia was at her wit's end and screamed at the top of her lungs. "She's a fucking murderer! She even confessed to the crimes and you're just... you're just... handing her deportation papers!? What the—"

Phil grabbed her shoulder and somberly shook his head. "Her uncle is the French Ambassador to the UN, and she holds diplomatic immunity as a deputy ambassador. And that's not all…." He looked at Elena and added with fear in his eyes, "Her family's too powerful for small people like us to mess with."

Elena took the papers from the government officials and walked toward the door. Everyone could only helplessly watch her leave. Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks and turned around to look at Olivia.

Her eyes had turned completely red with black vertical slits, and a terrifying killing intent gushed out from her. "David is mine, and mine alone. If you even dare to look at him the wrong way, I'll kill you and everyone you hold dear."

With that she turned around and walked away, forever leaving the country.

...

Two days later, David was standing across from the Mulligan, wearing his black hoodie with the hood up. Through the windows of the bar, he watched his former crew drinking and having a good time.

When he looked at the other end of the bar, he saw a slightly burly young man smoking a cigar and reading documents. When his gaze landed on the man, an unprecedented fury welled up in the young bloodline wizard's heart.

"Roberto…" David growled like a savage animal. He crossed the street and entered the Mulligan. Tonight would be the beginning of the war he would wage against New York, a war that would dye the streets red.

It begins...
