The Dimensional Chat Group

Before this whole story kicks off, just a few important things to say before you decide to read this book. First off all, this story is a harem, but it won't be a catch them all scenario where every girl he meets and knows is a potential love interest. The harem will be slow progressing and I will try my best to develop said relationships the best I can.

Second of all, this story will probably have rather dark themes involved, so just be warned about that before hand. While I certainly can't stomach myself to write something like a r*pe scene, the concept may be mentioned but it won't physically happen.

Anyway, this chapter is a bit of an info dump, but hope you enjoy.

Kusanagi Kenji.

That was his name, at least his new name.

It had been more than sixteen years now since he was reborn into this parallel version of Japan, and the new family he was born into was just as loving and caring towards him as his old family was. He had even received the same name he had answered to back in his old life, the only difference being his new family name.

He remembered vividly the way he died, burning to death when a massive fire broke out in the school he was attending. He wouldn't at all be surprised if other students suffered the same fate he did, a very painful and horrifying way to die it was. He definitely sends his regards to the students who suffered the same fate.

Anyway. after living in this world for sixteen whole years now, he had pretty much gotten used to the fact that he died. It was a hard pill to swallow at first, but he eventually came to accept it and move on. At least he was given a second chance to live, for that he was truly grateful.

It was because he knew that he was resurrected that Kenji found himself more open-minded when it came to supernatural forces, but what he was seeing right now was making him question his sanity. In front of him was a holographic screen, which when he touched with his hands, felt as if he was touching cold glass.

These past sixteen years were nothing crazy, just a normal Japanese male's life, nothing supernatural at all had happened in those years. The only supernatural thing he ever experienced was being reborn again, and that was crazy enough as is.

"Dimensional... chat group?"

As Kenji stood in front of the mirror in his room fixing his new uniform for the school he was going to be attending soon, that was when this strange screen appeared to him out of nowhere. His initial reaction was to just stare at it, and had just thought he was hallucinating.

Before continuing though, Kenji was a young man no older than sixteen, though his overall appearance could probably have him mistaken as being eighteen or so. He was rather tall for his age, along with having an athletic build that he attained from training in the gym, which was hidden beneath his uniform.

Kenji had slightly pale skin along with a pair of vibrant pink eyes that were sharp at the edges, along with having slightly messy white hair that ran over his right eye, Kenji knew that his appearance could label him as a bit of a delinquent, but he didn't really care about that, he felt more comfortable like this.

Despite his seemingly cold and intimidating demeanour, he was a friendly a guy on the inside.

Moving on, back to the holographic screen.

『You have been invited to the Dimensional Chat Group. Would you like to accept? (Accept/Decline)』

Kenji stared at the screen for a second as a small frown formed on his face, he was pondering whether or not it'd be a good idea to accept. He was enjoying his new life, but if he was being completely honest, there was very little about it that was considered exciting.

He understood the phrase of 'Curiosity killed the cat', but he was honestly curious as hell what this whole thing was. He obviously knew what a chat group was, but was it even referring to the same thing he knew? It also had the word 'Dimensional' there as well, so was this something that extended across entire dimensions?

If he had his old mindset then he'd be questioning his own sanity, but after reincarnating and everything, it wasn't as farfetched as it would have been. Shaking his head, Kenji gave a deep breath before tapping his finger onto the 'Accept' option.

'I hope I don't regret this...'

『Invitation has been accepted. Welcome to the Dimensional Chat Group』

『As the first member to join the group from the four sent invitations, you have been given a starting package. Would you like to open it now? (Yes/No)』

"A starting package?" Kenji blinked when he read this. He also took note of the other few words this strange screen stated, there seemed to be three others out there who had received an invitation just like himself. Since he was given this package, it seemed he was the only one who's accepted thus far. "Might as well I guess..."

When Kenji tapped onto the 'Yes' option, the screen turned blank for a second before a few dot points appeared with text that kept changing at an incredible speed that he couldn't make out any of the letters. Kenji watched as the text started slowing down before finally stopping.

.

『You have received』

● 250,000,000 Yen

● World Travel Ticket (Amount: 3)

● Reactive Adaption (Ability)

.

Kenji's mind completely clocked out on the last two items as his entire attention was focused on the first thing, the insane amount of money that this screen just told him that he received. A dinging sound soon sounded in the room, Kenji slowly but surely took out his phone and checked what the noise was.

"What... the fuck." Kenji muttered as he saw that the sound was due to a notification that he had just received. It was a message telling him that money had just been transferred into his account, a whole damn 250,000,000 Yen that is! "This is actually real... holy shit! Wait, hold on, what if my parents find out...?!"

While Kenji was honestly ecstatic about the amount of money he had in his account, he was worried about what would happen if his parents suddenly decided to check his account. They'd swarm him with questions, they'd probably think he was doing illegal shit that could seriously get him arrested!

Though, as long as they don't check his account, he'll be fine! Calming down, Kenji made sure to take note that he needed to watch how he spent this money and what he spent it on. If he just went out and bought a house along with a few supercars then that would be a major red flag.

"Alright, calm down now..." Kenji took a few more deep breaths as he turned off his phone and felt his heart starting to return to its normal pace. He then turned his attention back towards the chat group screen. "World travel tickets... I can already guess what those are, but what is this Reactive Adaption?"

From the small bit of text next to the two words, whatever this thing was it seemed to be some kind of special ability or something. Though, he could try something. "Umm... chat group? Is it possible for you to give me more information regarding this ability?"

He wasn't sure if this chat group was sentient or not, but whatever the case, the screen soon switched itself into a large bit of text that Kenji realised was giving him a few thorough details regarding what this Reactive Adaption thing was all about.

.

『Reactive Adaption』

A special power belonging to the monster known as Doomsday, which proved to be the sole ability that allowed Doomsday to become the overpowered monster that his enemies came to know him to be

Effects:

● Whenever the user suffers great pain, and upon recovering from said injury and/or pain, the user's body will adapt and grow to resist the cause of said pain along with growing physically stronger upon healing. The degree of resistance gained and amount of power gained is in accordance to how fatal and painful said injury was

● The user gains an immense healing factor, allowing the user to regenerate lost limbs in matter of mere seconds. On top of that, if the user finds themselves killed, this ability will automatically bring the user back to life within mere moments with at least twice the physical power and resistance the user had prior to the death

.

"Wait... from DC Comics?" Kenji felt his right eye twitching uncontrollably as he stared at the screen. He knew very well who Doomsday was, the literal overpowered weapon that brought incredible amounts of pain to the literal Man of Steel himself. "You're fucking joking..."

Doomsday was notorious for his overpowered ability to not only resurrect himself automatically after death, but to become extremely resistant to the cause of said death. It was because of this that the characters from the series had such incredible difficulty in taking him down.

From what Kenji was reading, this form was very much like the HP Doomsday with how he can adapt mid-battle and not just after dying. A common misconception from what he understood was that Doomsday becomes immune to things that kill him, but that wasn't entirely correct.

If Doomsday is killed by something, he just becomes very much resistant to the cause of death to the degree that he was killed. Meaning, as long as someone is capable of dishing out more power compared to what killed Doomsday the same way before, they could do so the same way again.

If anything, killing Doomsday was worse than letting him live.

Doomsday adapts and becomes more resilient towards what harms him as the battle goes on, but gains a massive resistance towards what harms him if it kills him. Killing Doomsday with a powerful punch was just a shortcut for the guy in building a resistance to the amount of power in said punch.

Of course, Doomsday doesn't just adapt, he evolves. While Kenji doubted Doomsday could adapt to become immune to something like physics in general, or something like magic, he could at least evolve to become immune to a specific form of magic. Such as if a magic spell targeted his heart, his body could evolve itself in a way to prevent that from happening again.

To put things simply, Doomsday's ability was just overpowered.

And that ability now belonged to him from what he understood...

"Haha~..." Kenji couldn't help but laugh as he thought about the situation he found himself in. He was just a normal high school student a few moments ago, and now he was a potential future embodiment of hacks. "I won't grow spikes and bones out of my body, will I?"

Kenji got his emotions under control as he thought of this. As Doomsday evolved, he evolved to grow bones and such to protect himself, and Kenji wasn't entirely sure if he was comfortable with that. It was definitely a concern he might need to address in the future if that were to happen.

Anyway, while he knew that he had this overpowered ability now, he definitely wasn't any stronger than he was before, physically at least. His current body hadn't endured what Doomsday has endured, and this world, at least to his knowledge, didn't have overpowered beings like Superman to give his body a reason to evolve.

As of right now, he was as strong as he was before gaining this power.

"Hold on, isn't this even more powerful than Doomsday's?" Kenji decided to read the information provided once again as he took notice of one particular detail. "If I an resurrect in only a few moments, isn't that even better than Doomsday?"

From what Kenji could recall, it would usually take Doomsday a good while to resurrect depending on the degree of power used to kill him. The time being because Doomsday's body had to evolve to resist the amount of power and reason in which was used to kill him, but that didn't seem to be a problem if he understood this description.

If his assumptions were correct... holy shit, he was overpowered.

Though, Kenji honestly was concerned with the ideas that were going through his head right now. He wanted to try and starve himself to evolve past the need for food, along with holding his breath and not breathing as well. He even wanted to stab a knife through himself to build up that physical resistance.

Don't get him wrong, he wasn't suicidal or psychotic...maybe.

Thankfully, as he was going through all kinds of ideas, the chat group screen took his attention back as he looked to see that the screen shifted from the description to a blank chat group screen similar to one you would see on a social media chat group page.

『Dimensional Chat Group Members』

● The Final Doomsday

● Invitation Pending...

● Invitation Pending...

● Invitation Pending...

.

"The others haven't accepted yet, not surprising." Kenji couldn't blame them, they were probably more cautious about it than he was. If a screen just appeared in front of you, it would be weird if you weren't concerned or worried about it. "The Final Doomsday, huh? Fitting name."

"Kenji, come down and eat breakfast! You need to get going soon!"

"Okay, mom! I'll be down in a moment!"

With a swipe of his hands, Kenji was glad to see that the action caused the chat group screen to close down as if it were an internet browser. He didn't want to have that screen in front of his face for every day and night of his life, it would be honestly jarring.

For now, he had to eat breakfast and get to school. He and his family had only recently arrived here into town a few days ago from Tokyo, and his parents had enrolled him here in the nearby school which if he remembered correctly, was named after the town itself.

"What is called... oh yeah, Kuoh Academy. Why does that sound familiar? Whatever, probably my imagination."

(A/N: What's up, ladies and gentlemen. This chapter was a bit of an info dump, but I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless. Anyway, I was hoping to ask for your opinion on whether or not Doomsday's power allows him to become resistant towards something like Time Manipulation. Such as if someone froze his body in time, can he adapt and break free from that? I can't remember whether or not he's accomplished feats similar to that or not)
