Chapter 26: Druid

Walking back to the playground, Iris and I don’t expect to see Riley and Lucian by the entrance of the woods and behind them, ten to fifteen Mystics excluding the four we already recruited. We forgot, didn’t we?

Today, we were supposed to greet the newcomers, but instead Iris and I played with plants and made-out on the loveseat in the living room. We were so focused on each other that bringing in other Mystics was in the furthest corners of our minds.

We step out of the enchanted woods, welcomed by Lucian and Riley’s not-so-happy expressions, eyes in a glare. I let go of Iris’ hand and wipe it on my jeans.

“Glad you could show yourselves.” Lucian huffs. “You’re our leader, Iris. It’s most important that you’re here for these things.”

Iris looks down, probably a bit ashamed of herself, and I don’t blame her. I would be, too. “Right. Of course. It won’t happen again.”
