20 The Anteverse

[MC's POV]

Predators, beings that were at the top of the biological pyramid, liked those below them to be subservient to their existence.

There was something about lower life forms being fearful, and respectful while at the same time, hateful towards higher life forms.

I let the scared witless human escape due to being in a good mood. He didn't pose a threat and I wouldn't have gained anything from mindlessly killing him.

Humans were fearful of the unknown and as Moretti once said, "The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest fear is the fear of the unknown."

I was a walking representation of statistical improbabilities, an unknown variable in the Pacific Rim universe with the potential to cause planetary destruction.

Humans, those intelligent bipedal beings, were masters of survival and analysis and soon, they were going to profile my intentions, likes, dislikes, and moral alignment. It wouldn't have to be complete, they would just make do with the little details they have.

I was ever-changing, not tied to one evolutionary chain, and that made hella unpredictable in a biological sense.

Right on cue, the computerized texts began auto-typing in my field of vision.

[Useless! Worthless!]

'Eh, what the heck?' I was dumbfounded by that specific prompt. This made me wonder about the mechanisms behind the system prompts.

I had come to understand that what I had wasn't your typical system. It only served as a database storage of whatever I was going to consume in relation to [Genetic Archiving].

Useless! Worthless! Was that ol' Evil douche playing jokes with me or was there an eccentric AI controlling the generation of the prompts?

To that, I could only shrug it off.

[You have consumed Slattern]

[Genetic traits analyzed.]

From my tailbone, two more gradually grew.

My original tail was no longer the same. It had mutated to look the same as Slattern's.

The seemed as if they had a mind of their own, moving restlessly. Their tips were also sharp and modified to have the same lethality as my claws.

Just as I was monologuing, the was suddenly activated and I felt my mind warp and distort before foreign memories and scenes began irregularly playing in my mind like a movie being fast-forwarded. It was like I was having an uncontrolled neural drift.

Through the , I saw the ways of the Precursors. How they created the gigantic terraformers in their cloning facilities. How they created an environment for natural selection and survival of the fittest, a system they used to bring rise to the most powerful fighter.

There were just many interesting things in the Anteverse that only served to amplify my curiosity and… inner greed.

I wanted to know more about the minds of these Precursors since the only served as an extra pair of eyes.

I just couldn't access the complete genetic memories of these extraterrestrial entities.

From the movie duology, I knew about their ambitions and the surface information about their origins but the movies didn't delve deeper into the inside circumstances of the alien warlords.

For that, I just had to go there.

I licked my lips when I finally turned my attention to the ruined Gipsy Danger, specifically at its core- the nuclear reactor which was pulsating with huge amounts of nuclear radiation.

Without further ado, I began to absorb everything until nothing was left.

'Ah, perfecto.' I released a mental sigh of satisfaction before burping a cloud of nuclear mist.

Now to look at the changes.

'Status!'

Well, that was beyond my expectations.

I was growing hella fast due to the tremendous increase of biomass given out by those deceased Kaijus weighing several kilotons.

Not wanting to waste any more time, I swam past the floor of volcanic activity.

There was superheated lava flowing from various cracks on the earth and also smoke holes that continuously emitted pressurized steam that reeked of sulfur.

I jumped into the pitfall, which from an outside point of view looked like a throat.

I didn't understand if the Breach operated on suspended gravity or zero gravity mechanisms as I effortlessly passed the Kaiju DNA screening security checkpoint.

There were many theories and stuff left for the fans to come up with since the producers of the Pacific Rim movie didn't provide a lot of concrete information.

Shaking my head lightly, I decided that I would learn things as they came since I was living in such an unpredictable reality.

I looked at the numerous webs of blue lightning zapping from the walls of the Breach.

To me, the walls looked like some sort of gigantified finger-like projections that could emit blue lightning.

The view inside the Breach was somehow kaleidoscopic and it made it look aesthetically cool - probably something I would use as a lock screen wallpaper in my past life.

Finally, when the last 'anal' looking sphincter gates spewed me out, I found myself in a completely different dimension - The Anteverse.
