41 Wolves, bats, and sometimes ghosts?

"Hey."

Luca jolted when a warm hand held her hand, turning to see Adam looking back at her curiously. He cocked his head to the side while assessing her face.

"You're pale," Adam pointed out. "Don't tell me you're the one who murdered the lady in a red dress?"

"No!" she denied, realizing she sounded even more suspicious. "I mean, the body was found near the club I frequent. The hotel I was staying at is just nearby."

"Ahh…" he leaned back comfortably, gazing at the television screen. "Hmph."

Seeing his mellow reaction, deep lines resurfaced in between her brows. "What?" she asked.

"Nothing." He shook his head, his lips drawn into a thin line. "I just thought this world was never safe. I mean, things such as these happen more regularly and the crime rates have soared through the recent years."
