Chapter five

The next day, Kyrie reported to work glowing differently. She untied the elastic ribbon she packed her hair with and let it sway occasionally in the air as she walked from the gate to the entrance. On both sides of the avenue, rose petals dropped from its branches to form an imaginary red carpet. It was like scene in a movie.

Hakeem was mesmerized as he looked from his window. Kyrie slayed as though she knew he would be watching. Her mentality had been reprogrammed completely- she now saw herself as a potential billionaire.

Hakeem stood where he could, at least, share some pleasantries with her employee.

"Good morning, Coco."

"Good morning Mr. Hakeem."

They both responded as she walked. But, Hakeem was in her way so her body brushed his.

He felt the new vibe. Her fragrance spoke volume. Even Coco complimented her magenta color shirt and shoes.

Hakeem and Coco looked at each other.

Kyrie wore her apron and commenced work in the kitchen.

When it was only them in the building, Mr. Roberts took her on a tour in the mansion- the left and right wings. It was as big as Disney Land. Kyrie was marveled. In the basement was a large garage where he parked his expensive auto mobiles like Rolls Royce phantom, Maserati, Aston Martin, Porsche, several fifteen others etc.

Kyrie was dumbfounded as she touched the gold plated Rolls Royce.

"Common... you like it?" He asked. She nodded.

"If wishes were horses... I mean, I doubt if I will ever ride in luxurious cars like these ones."

"You can, Kyrie. Pick any one of your choice and you will ride in it right away."

She picked a Lamborghini. He threw the key at her and asked her to drive it out.

"We all deserve to have fun while we can."

Kyrie kissed his forehead. She got in, gave life to the engine. She stepped on the accelerator, then she reversed. Mr. Roberts waved at her.

Kyrie hit the road speeding. Every car she passed, the driver turned to look at her car. She turned on the music player and selected "Twice as Tall" Afro beat music by Burna boy, a Nigerian musician.

At some point she opened convertible roof and raised the doors up while speeding. Cool breeze blew from all sides to keep her feel- good -hormones up. She drove to her house and picked her boy. He was very happy.

"Wow mummy you bought a flying car..." His mates looked on. They were happy for him. Men, women and children rejoiced and waved at Kyrie from their windows. She waved back. That was where she grew.

She drove her son to Walmart where her ex was working. When she pulled up, everyone was awed including her ex. As they came out of the car, Zion locked eyes with Kyrie; he felt humiliated. They walked in to pick some groceries. In the little time they spent there shopping, she didn't allow Denzel go close to him. He only waved from a distance.

Even Coco caught a glimpse of Kyrie in the car when she rode past their office. She later informed Hakeem of it.

When he interrogated her, she told him that his father authorized it. So Hakeem kept quiet. He was not sure what was happening. He didn't want his suspicion to be real.

He also queried her the day she brought Denzel to the mansion having disturbed Kyrie countless times to know her place of work.

One night Kyrie wore an evening gown to the house, to surprise Mr. Roberts.

"You are so beautiful, Kyrie." He said when he saw her.

"I have a surprise for you."

"What could that be? "

She asked that she dress him up. Why not. He allowed her. So she put him in one of the cars and took him to an amusement park.

"Sir, I want you to be happy always."

She pushed him around the place. They bought ice cream, ate popcorn, played casino. Then finally she urged him to get on the giant rotating swing.

"I can't. I'm an old man."

"But I need you to be young at heart, forever."

They paid for the swing and got on it together. As they got up, high in the sky, Mr. Roberts screamed joyfully. He felt young and energetic once more. Kyrie was also happy. It was obvious she was in love. Hakeem was awake in his bed when they got back. He heard sounds of their laughter and conversations. His dad was literally back to live. He was happy for him. But then, that feeling would never be consistent.

A night after, Hakeem sneaked into Kyrie's room after she deliberately left her door open. The moon rays were the only source of light in the room. He told her that he had long stopped visiting the night pub. He vehemently begged her to make love to him. She refused. From where she was standing, the blue light enabled Hakeem to see her nakedness through her see- through night wear. She continued to resist him until he could not bear it. He forcefully turned her back, pinned her to the wall. She tried to free herself but Hakeem's strong arms overpowered her. Within seconds, Hakeem spat on his palm, rubbed it on her to make it easy to accomplish his motive. Quickly he got intimate with her. Having lubricated her oracle already, it sent different signals to Kyrie's brain, ordering her to relax. So, she enjoyed as he caressed her passionately from behind. He threw her to the bed, made her desire him again and again. Then Kyrie laid on the bed smiling from ear to ear, reminiscing what transpired between them. Their sweaty bodies rammed against each other. Soon it was over.

Hakeem left the room in his briefs like a Spartan warrior who had just slain his foes.

God! He didn't even know who the real enemy was. But, only time will tell.

By the second month, terrible things began to play out.
