The Devil's Secretary

The world-famous hacker, Dexter, is a woman and she is the daughter of one of the most prominent families of aristocrats, going by the name Daisy Chen. Daisy has stayed away from her family, and juggled from one job to another in disguise or while cross-dressing as her alibi 'Dexter'. It never once got her into trouble, not until she chanced upon him. Ryle Harper, the CEO of Harper Societies, manages a multinational company on the surface but danger lurks beneath every façade he presents to the world. Daisy had decided to tread carefully around the man but trouble always comes uninvited. One night. One mistake. A stranger. An unprepared pregnancy. To keep her façade of being a man and not offend the devil, she did what was feasible… She disappeared without a trace. However, two years later, she finds herself facing him again only to realize that the man was, all along trying to track her down. By a twist of fate, she becomes his secretary again but this time, their deal comes with certain conditions and a time limit. But when destiny rolls its dice and Daisy has to assume the position of the head of her family, how would she escape Ryle's clutches again? Would she want to? Or would he let her? ... “Look at me,’’ his eyes darkened as he stepped towards her. With every step he took towards her, Daisy took a step back until her back hit the wall. The curtains swayed in the night wind, the glow of the pale moonlight illuminating the dark room where she could see the danger lurking in those hazel eyes. She averted her gaze. He pinched her chin and turned her face towards him, ‘’Dexter?” his fingers grazed up to her wig, ‘’Or shall I call you Daisy now? Daisy Chen?” he leaned closer to her, whispering next to her lips. Her lips parted but before she could utter a single word, her wig was tugged off. Her long dark hair came cascading down, answering all his unanswered questions. ''Tell me Daisy, or there are more ways I can make you speak,'' his hand reached inside her shirt, his long fingers grazed on the expanse of her delicate, bare skin, ''You believe me, right?" he whispered. She shivered, partly in pleasure and partly in denial of that pleasure that she felt.

The infamous thief

Alice kicked the outfits thrown near her feet in Diana's room. The entire room was a mess with all of Diana's things and garments being strewn all around, ''You are seeing this, aren't you?" she glared at her husband, ''Both our daughters are such disappointments.''

''Don't get started now,'' the man's voice held a warning.

Alice narrowed her eyes, ''Or what? Don't you still understand? She has a man coming to her room at this hour. Didn't you hear what the security said? The man looked handsome. And nothing was stolen which means he was not a thief who was here to steal, he was here for our daughter and he probably lost his temper after not seeing her,'' Alice felt like her assumptions might not be accurate but they were not far from that.

Helian Chen turned to look at his wife, ''Don't you know her better than me? When did she ever introduce us to a boyfriend or any guy she potentially dated? You threatened every male around her just so she could stay pure and you can sell her off to some young master.''

''What sell? We are rich ourselves. Why would I want to sell my daughter?" Alice was stupefied, ''I threatened those lowlifes because they were not worthy of her. And you think our daughters are that obedient?''

Master Chen rubbed the spot between his brows.

On Daisy's wedding day, Alice had received threat messages and initially, she was doubtful but she had shrugged it off. However, just in case things went wrong, she had made sure to pay the person. Little did she know that the things that had to go bad would go bad regardless of what she did.

Soon after they transferred the huge amount of money to the dummy account, the managers of an orphanage entered the wedding venue with a child, who was apparently Daisy's child.

As much as Alice wanted to deny it, she just knew that the child was Daisy's, be it from the picture she had received of the child and Daisy together or be it the child's features.

Alice scoffed, ''One made us believe she hated men until we realized that she had spawned a wild child somewhere. Now, the other ran away from home and wild men are breaking into our mansion, specifically inside her room. Who knows if she has a child too? What is she up to?!"

''Alice!" the man snapped.

''Shout all you want. Don't you also agree with me?" Alice frowned, ''Also, did you find Diana's whereabouts?''

''She has discarded everything we could potentially use to track her,'' Master Chen said with a straight face.

Accepting and acknowledging Daisy's child would have been a stain to the reputation of the Chen Family. Alice had suggested to put the child in a foster care but before they could decide anything, Diana ran from home with the child.

''Whatever,'' Alice was starting to have a splitting headache just thinking about it. So she turned to leave, ''Let her survive in the wilderness with that child then she will come begging for us to take her in once her adrenaline is gone. As for Daisy, that girl better not show her face,'' with those words said, she was gone.

Master Chen was about to leave too but suddenly a thought crossed his mind after hearing the mention of his elder daughter.

He walked towards the bedside table of Diana's room amidst the mess and picked up the lamp. A glint flashed across his green eyes when he did not see anything except for the plain table surface.

He turned around and left the room.

Once he was gone, one side of the huge bed moved as the sturdy wood slid to the side, revealing a rectangular opening.

Nobody knew that while her room was being renovated, Diana had secretly bribed someone to prepare this secret space hiding inside her bed.

While it looked uncomfortable from the outside but it was like a cave from the inside with books, laptop, snacks, and other materials she used.

Nobody knew about this secret place other than Diana.

Except for one person.

One hand appeared at the entrance of the secret entrance followed by another.

Halfway through, the person flipped their body, revealing a bewitching face as he pushed himself completely out of the bed.

Unruly ash blonde hair framed the handsome face and a pair of emerald eyes stared at the ceiling coldly.

The handsome 'man' pushed himself to his feet and stared at the mess in the bedroom for one last time before he kicked the wooden opening of the bed close.

'Click' The bed was locked.

He adjusted the collar of his black leather jacket and stepped out of the room.

A guard who was running towards the store room to do another round of checking abruptly halted in his tracks and glanced at the stairs.

'The infamous thief'—Daisy, descended the stairs casually amidst the chaos that ensued inside the mansion because of her.

Dressed and disguised as Dexter, she walked like she was taking a stroll in the mansion.

The words 'Mission accomplished, huge reward' flashed in the guard's head as he sprinted towards the thief in a hurry.

But despite his rushed movements, he was cautious enough to take out his pistol and aim it towards the man, ''Stand right there.''

As the man stopped walking, the guard grabbed the person's arms in a deadlock and smirked victoriously, his nose thrust in the clouds and his face spelled 'SMUG' in seven languages.

Nobody could capture this pretty boy thief but he did. A better future awaited him now.

But gradually, his excitement started fading. Why isn't this pretty boy thief panicking?

''You should have stopped there...''

Those words were spoken suddenly, confusing the hell out of him by those words.

''What?" He could not understand what this guy was talking about.

But his confusion turned into horror when the 'man' suddenly flipped him around and snatched the gun from his hand before hitting the back of his head with it.

The strength in those frail-looking hands made him stagger.

The guard wanted to scream for help but it was too late and as his consciousness faded, he saw the pretty boy thief who still looked as calm except for the hint of disdain in those green eyes as he spoke—

''You had a weapon. You should have aimed it from a distance instead of stepping into my territory.''
