A capable secretary

One month later.

"Your Highness, why are you so late? Boss is in a terrible mood today!" Ryle's driver came rushing towards Daisy who was absent-mindedly past the door.

Daisy, who was disguised as Dexter, halted in her tracks when the man blocked her path.

''What happened?" she asked the driver who shook his head wordlessly.

Daisy registered the man's terrified expressions for a moment before she walked towards the elevator.

Controlling the thoughts that haunted her in the past one month since her night in the nightclub, Daisy made her way to Ryle's office.

When she opened the door, she saw a man kneeling on the floor with his head lowered while Ryle leaned back on his swivel chair, playing with the gun in his hand.

The air in the room was filled with thick tension.

When Ryle spotted Daisy, his brow lifted slightly, ''Is there anything you have to say?"

If she remembered it right, the man who was kneeling on the floor should be a new top ranking bodyguard who was hired and made to undergo through special training six months ago. He was personally hired by Ryle and even dispatched to guard some young lady. She had no idea why he seemed to have been reduced to this condition by Ryle.

Following her gaze, Ryle glanced at the man who was kneeling on the floor. Ryle twirled the gun in his hand, ''Get up.''

''Y-Yes…'' the sturdy man pushed himself up to his feet.

''Any sort of involvement with the client is a breach of the contract that you have signed,'' Ryle tilted his head to the side as he spoke, ''There is no smoke without fire. I do not care if the rumours are true or not but I believe you are wise enough to tread carefully around the socialite circle. Because if there is a single stain on my company's reputation, then you won't know what happened to you,'' the corner of his lips tilted in a devilish smile.

But that smile sent shivers down, not only the bodyguard's but even Daisy's spine.

Because she knew she had a secret to keep. If her secret was out, it would not take her long to be in the bodyguard's place.

If Ryle knew that she had tricked him and pretended to be a man in order to get his attention, then she could not imagine the consequences of what he would put her through to make her regret her actions.

Once the bodyguard left, the only people left in the office room were Daisy and Ryle.

Daisy instinctively touched her wig and while she did so, she did not notice when Ryle approached her. Not until he tapped her shoulder.

''Back to earth, Dexter.''

Ryle's voice was amicable but to Daisy's ears, it sounded like a demon had crawled out of hell to converse with her.

She cleared her throat and changed her voice to a strong masculine one as she spoke, ''Yes?"

''You seemed curious about what was happening.''

''No, I…'' how was she supposed to tell him that she was not curious but she was picturing herself in that man's place if her secret was ever exposed?

In the end, she kept her mouth shut.

Looking at the 'man's' cold face, Ryle sighed and threw an arm around 'his' shoulder as he led 'him' to the chair, ''You have nothing to be modest about. If you are curious, you can ask,'' Ryle said, in a rare good mood. Undoubtedly, Dexter was one of his most treasured assets. Be it his work efficiency, his wits, intelligence or his top-notch hacking skills, everything about the young man was unparalleled in Ryle's eyes. Even the young man's ability to attract ladies of all categories left him amused.

Daisy sat on the chair, frowning slightly at the boss-employee affection being showered on her, ''Is there something you want me to do about this situation?"

Not coming up with problems but being a part of the solutions. Ryle could not have been more pleased with this secretary of his, ''I have it under control. I received some information about his personal involvement with the client.''

Daisy's lips parted as she looked at him.

''Don't look so surprised,'' Ryle tapped the table as he tilted his chin down to look at her, ''You should know how much I detest people who break my rules and cross me.''

A sudden wave of nausea hit her at the sound of his passive aggressive words.

Daisy's face turned pale.

''What happened to you?" she could hear Ryle's voice as she got up from the chair.

''I am not feeling well today, President. I want to recover soon so that I can get to the bottom of that matter and find the people that you have been looking for all this time."

Ryle frowned as he watched the 'man' disappearing at the speed of wind, his eyes narrowed in contemplation at what had turned his diligent secretary into a flustered fool in the past month.

Daisy did not know how she managed to make it to her bike and get away from the tall proud building of Harper Societies that seemed to be glaring daggers at her, the nausea inside her stomach intensifying with every minute.

Struggling to cope with her thoughts, she increased the speed. Once she made it to her condominium, Daisy alighted her bike and removed her helmet. But before she could take a step away from her bike, a wave of dizziness washed over her and she stumbled.

''Are you okay?"

A blurry silhouette greeted her vision as she heard the distant voice before her vision went completely blank.
