17 17. Was Alex adopted?

CHAPTER 17 : WAS ALEX ADOPTED?

"And how can she do that? Isn't she supposed to stay here 24×7? I had contacted Tyler to update me every two hours and he had said that she will stay with you all the time. Did you kick her out?" Irelyn asked in a worried tone.

"No, her fiance has some problems." Alexander answered, still sleepy.

"And what if something happens or you need her? Is this how she is performing her duty? Where is her professionalism?" Irelyn asked more questions, her voice rising.

"I can ring this bell." Alexander said while pointing towards the bell.

And before Alexander could register anything, Irelyn was already ringing it.

"Mum!" Alexander called out, now fully awake.

"You can not let her do that son. What if you urgently need something? We will fire her-" Irelyn was speaking when Eleanora entered, wearing black night dress, her curls all over her face and shoulder, eyes swollen from lack of sleep but the blue mask covering more than half of her face being highlight of the morning.

"Do you feel unwell?" Eleanora asked, her voice hoarse from sleep, as she rubbed her eyes furiously to wake herself up.

"Is this how your professionalism is? Where were you when my son almost fainted minutes ago? Is he supposed to ring the bell even when he is fainting?" Irelyn immediately started firing questions her way.

"Did you faint?" Eleanora asked seriously as she was completely out of her slumber by now.

"No." Alexander replied courteously.

"But what if he would have fainted? Were you waiting to land him into more severe situation?" Irelyn questioned back.

"What kind of mother thinks such ill things about her own real son? Were you adopted?" Eleanora, frustrated from lack of her sleep , answered back, looking at Alexander with 'what-the-hell-is-this-now?' expression.

"How dare you? Alex, fire her immediately. I can not tolerate such reckless people around you." Irelyn said, triggered by Eleanora's response.

"Yes. Please fire me." Eleanora said with a frustrated-sarcastic smile, more than happy to leave Alexander at his own will.

"No." Alexander said, massaging his temples.

"Alex! We can replace her with the best doctors! We will bring doctors from foreign countries if needed but not her anymore!" Irelyn said, not wanting to let Eleanora treat her son.

"Mum, I will deal with her." Alexander said, clearly stating what he wanted.

"Fine. Since you are insisting. But if you ever leave him alone, it won't be good for you. I don't care what your fiance thinks or whatever problems you have. You have to stay with him 24×7, even if it includes sleeping here." Irelyn said, her threat subtle but not something that should be taken lightly.

"Young madam I won't sleep-'' Eleanora was about to refute when Alexander stopped her.

"Enough Eleanora." Alexander said while frustratingly running a hand through his hairs, irritated by the early morning fiasco, making Eleanora's heart flutter.

'Stupid butterflies, I can only fall for Ethan in this lifetime! This is Alexander Bloodthirsty Laurent. Don't do this to me and don't flutter for him!' Eleanora scolded herself internally.

"24×7 it is. Including you sleeping in the same room." Irelyn said with a smug expression, happy that her son took her side.

Thankfully Irelyn had to leave early, saving herself and Eleanora from more unnecessary arguments.

And as if lady luck was on her side, Alexander was back to his deep sleep, giving her time to bathe and free herself from that terrible mask for sometime.

She was sitting maskless while back-facing Alexander when she received a call.

"Hello mum." Eleanora said in a low voice, afraid to wake Alexander up.

"Ellie! Why are these men not allowing us inside? Tell them to let us in!" Clara shouted from the other side.

"What are you doing here mum!" Eleanora whisper-shouted, truly scared to know that her mum was standing under the same roof as Alexander.

"First, ask them to let me in! How can they hold you arrested like some prisoner Ellie!!" Clara's fury was visible from the other side.

"Mum wait-" Eleanora was speaking when the thing she was fearing actually happened.

"What is it?" Alexander asked in a hoarse voice, his sleepiness evident.

Eleanora immediately wore her mask, her speed lightening quick.

"Sorry for waking you up." Eleanora said while slowly turning back towards Alexander.

"Who are you apologising to? Ellie, come here fast!" Clara said from the other side.

"Mum wait, I am-" Eleanora was speaking when Alexander spoke.

"Go meet her." 

"Huh?" Eleanora was shocked for a moment as she hadn't expected this from Alexander.

"Your mom is waiting right? Go meet her. I will tell my men." Alexander said before calling Tyler from his phone as Eleanora looked at him for another ten seconds before walking out of the VIP room, still stunned from Alexander's sudden benevolence.

'Is his brain malfunctioning? How can Alexander Merciless Laurent become so kind? I must have hallucinated I guess-' Eleanora was still thinking while walking when she heard her mum calling her from the front.

"Ellieee! Elliee!" She shouted before the men moved aside and gave her way.

However Clara was not alone, as her dad, Warren, was also accompanying her.

"Mum dad? Why did you come here? I had asked Ethan to inform you." Eleanora said as she had purposefully avoided calling her family in front of Alexander.

"Yes. He told us how you were held captive over here. Return with us now!" Clara said as Warren without saying anything directly walked towards Eleanora while having a good look at her.

"Are you even listening!" Clara said as Eleanora hugged her father, knowing her father understood her the most, while the burden of thinking about Alexander had vanished momentarily.

"Yes mum." Eleanora replied with a smile.

"Then return with us." Clara said, her voice decreasing a little.

"Mum, my patient is truly in a critical condition and I have to observe him for a while. Once he is out of danger, I'll return home." Eleanora explained.

"Do you lack anything?" Warren asked.
