16 16. As if Alex is interested in her

CHAPTER 16 : AS IF ALEX IS INTERESTED IN HER

Because the next moment Alexander wrapped her in a gentle hug, patting her back.

"It's alright. I am here with you." His low voice right next to her ear.

Even Alexander felt a little surprised at his sudden statement, but his fear about harming Eleanora was on another level at the moment.

In all honesty, he had murdered a lot of people, even tortured others brutally and threatening had no limit.

But it was always done purposefully. There was nothing accidental in it like the way it was this time.

"Alex.. Alex." Eleanora muttered, her voice weak.

"Shhhh… I am here. Nothing will happen. Take a deep breath." Alexander said, as if saying this to himself more than Eleanora.

And somehow Eleanora seemed a little settled, following his statement and inhaling. 

Meanwhile Alexander patted her back and rubbed her head, his own heart rate coming to normal.

"We have reached." Suddenly the elevator man said, and Alexander had never been so thankful for leaving an elevator as he was right now.

"Come with me." Alexander said, breaking their hug before wrapping his hand around Eleanora's shoulder, taking her out of the elevator.

"Open your eyes, Eleanora. Look at me." Alexander said and she did, her eyelids fluttering before opening completely, fear visible in them.

Eleanora looked around, the elevator and man behind and lastly Alexander standing in front of her.

She took a step back, creating some distance between them.

"I am sorry." She said, the scene from the elevator vague in her mind.

"You should have told me." Alexander said, straightening his clothes, being a little overwhelmed himself.

"Uh huh." Eleanora replied absentmindedly before turning towards the CT scan room, followed by Alexander.

The examination went silently and this time Alexander accompanied Eleanora through the stairs. None of them spoke even a single word, but the silence was better than any word exchange between these two complicated characters.

"I will sleep in the adjacent room. Wait, let me finish." Eleanora said as soon as she saw that Alexander was about to interrupt her yet again.

And maybe the guilt from watching Eleanora's claustrophobic fear was still fresh in his mind, Alexander surprisingly relented.

She needed to breathe properly, which meant she needed to remove her mask, which in turns was never possible in this room.

"You can ring this bell whenever you need me and I'll be here within fifteen seconds.

Secondly, if you doubt that I might run away, you can ask your men to keep a watch. I have zero problem with that. But I can not sleep here." Eleanora explained her point.

"Why?" Alexander asked.

'Is he paid for using as few words as he can?' Eleanora had this funny thought in her mind but she brushed it away.

"As you have seen, I have a fiance and he would definitely not like his wife sharing the same room with another man, even if he is my patient. So please be a little understanding of my situation and allow me to rest in the adjacent room." Eleanora said in a polite tone.

"As if I have any interest in you." Alexander muttered under his breath but Eleanora, being so used to Alexander in the past, knew what he meant.

"You might have negative interest in me but my fiancee's opinion matters as well. Being a doctor I am not lacking in attending you. But at the same time I am a human as well." Eleanora said.

Alexander looked at her face, as if trying to read something but he couldn't. Her eyes were once again sparkling, and were nothing like the vulnerable ones he had seen in the elevator.

"Fine." He replied, shocking Eleanora for a moment, but she was more than happy to leave this room as fast as she could.

"Good night Mr. Laurent. Ring the bell if you need anything." Eleanora said before picking up her bag and leaving the room, not even once looking at Alexander.

Alexander similarly picked up his phone, not paying any attention to Eleanora.

But the moment she was gone, the phone faced a fate similar to the previous one.

'Who does she think she is? And what? Her fiance might not feel this right? Man as if I have eyes for someone else's wives. Am I blind? And what does she feel so insecure about, hiding her face all the time! This woman is truly getting on my nerves!' Alexander thought, frustrated at Eleanora.

'Somebody tell her the amount of women flocking behind me! Tomorrow will be a tedious day for you, Eleanora. Mark my words. I won't let-' Alexander was thinking when the images from the elevator came back to his mind.

And for unknown reasons he had this guilt in his mind, an alien feeling for Alexander the-stone-heart Laurent. 

"Just hope I don't wake up frustrated, Eleanora." Alexander muttered before laying down, and closing his eyes.

*NEXT MORNING - 6.30 AM*

"Alex! Child are you alright? Why are you-" Irelyn Laurent entered Alexander's room with a loud thud of door opening, waking him up in the worst possible way.

And any other person who would have done this, would have had a gun pointed at him, which was still present beneath Alexander's pillow, and died a silent death by now.

"Good morning mum." But this was Alexander's mother, someone that Alexander loved beyond his own life.

"Why are you not picking up my calls, child?" She asked while catching her breathe before walking towards him and kissing his forehead.

Alexander simply looked towards the place where his last phone was still lying in peices.

"Why didn't you ask Tyler to bring you another phone? I was so worried that I rushed here without returning home." Irelyn said, her worry visible on her face.

"I am fine mum." Alexander said in a groggy voice, rubbing his own head sleepily.

"Your father has already captured three of their men who are facing the worst possible torture in our dungeons. You just get back to your original health and-" Irelyn was speaking when her eyes fell upon the empty bed on the other side.

"Where is your doctor?" Irelyn asked suddenly.
