11 11. Will Astoria make it or break it

CHAPTER 11 : WILL ASTORIA MAKE IT OR BREAK IT?

"Oh is that so? Then I must thank her for saving the life of someone who is this important to me." Astoria said while placing her hand over Alexander's, showing who Alexander belonged to, though none of this mattered to Eleanora.

Also, Alexander removed his hand the next minute.

"I need to go use the washroom." Alexander said before getting up slowly, excusing himself from Astoria's presence for sometime.

"Must be feeling good to fool Alexander." Suddenly Astoria said the moment Alexander was out of sight.

Eleanora didn't even raise her head, knowing Astoria didn't deserve even one percent of her attention.

"Stop pretending to not be a gold digger! You think I don't know how cheap girls like you get closer to Alexander under the name of his health and safety!" Astoria finally lost her cool after being ignored multiple times by Eleanora.

After all she was someone who had only been in the limelight since her birth. Alexander was the only man who ignored her and she felt herself obsessing over him even more.

But how could she tolerate similar arrogance from other girls!

"Then tell him to kick me out." Eleanora finally raised her head, pausing from irritatingly tapping her phone multiple times, yet not being able to see anything except Alexander's perfect portrait.

"What?" Even Astoria was suddenly shocked at Eleanora's cold reply.

"Ask Alexander to kick me out of this room! I have zero interest in staying here, but he is forcefully making me stay." Eleanora said straightforwardly.

She knew that maybe if Astoria truly tried and annoyed Alexander beyond limit, he might as well kick her out, permanently.

"Stop pretending okay, I know your type. Acting all innocent and-" Astoria was still speaking when Eleanora interjected.

"Tell him to remove me. It is as simple as that. As for you calling me cheap, either you convince him to kick me out, or I'll make sure that you apologise for running your mouth like that." Eleanora said, tired from all this act.

The more she was running away from her past, the people who brought her misfortune, the more she was getting trampled by all of them again.

Why let them have their way always? She might have been powerless in front of Alexander in last life because of his psychotic infatuation with her, but things were different in this life.

"You! How dare you-" Astoria was almost shouting when she heard the flush in the washroom and the next moment, Alexander was back in the room.

"Alexander! This cheap girl disrespected me! You have to kick her out right now!!" Astoria began as soon as Alexander reached near her.

'Guess she had been a chameleon since the beginning. Only I was stupid enough to believe that she befriended me when all she did was infuriate every single Laurent member against me. Her acting skills are truly top notch given her mediocre acting career!' Eleanora thought to herself, keeping her phone down while watching the drama unfold.

"What disrespect?" Alexander didn't even spend his energy on properly speaking with Astoria while getting back on his bed.

"She said.. said that I was being a bitch and told me to fuck off. She even said that you are falling head over heels for her and would never trust me! This is so outrageous! Alexander you have to avenge me and kick her out not only from this room but from the hospital itself." Astoria lied without even pausing.

"Is that so." Alexander said while turning his head towards Eleanora who still hadn't removed her mask and glasses yet.

'All lies but I don't mind till the time I get my freedom! Should I fake being scared, as if I really said that? Maybe that would make this a little more believable! Yes, maybe I should join in!' Eleanora thought, hoping the act would let her go.

As for her job in this hospital, she would deal with that someday later.

"Sorry.. I.. I shouldn't have said that.. Please forgive me.. I was out of my mind! I.. I should…I will leave." Eleanora said and immediately stood up, knowing this was her cue.

'Keep walking Ellie! You did a great job. Maybe if Astoria hadn't screwed my past this much, I would have truly hugged her for this. She truly has some acting-' Eleanora was already at the door when Alexander called her.

"Eleanora." And as if on instinct, she paused in her tracks, her flesh covered with goosebumps, a reflex from her past.

"You said those things?" Alexander asked, his voice plain, but Eleanora could well sense this calm before the storm.

"Are you distrusting me Alexander? She even confessed her crimes! You should be kicking her out by now and yet you stopped her!" Astoria truly felt relieved when Eleanora had confessed and stood up to leave.

"Did you said all those things, Eleanora?" Alexander ignored Astoria, his voice laced with something that even Eleanora couldn't interpret.

"Yes.. I did." Eleanora didn't even turn before replying meekly, her back facing Alexander.

"Then.." Alexander said before-

'Must be feeling good to fool Alexander.

Stop pretending to not be a gold digger! You think I don't know how cheap girls like you get closer to Alexander under the name-' Astoria's voice was being replayed on Alexander's phone when Astoria cut him off.

"No, this is her voice! She was saying all that to me. Alexander, you have to trust me!" Astoria was speaking but Alexander wasn't even paying her any attention.

He was looking at Eleanora's back, who looked stiff. Thankfully he wasn't witnessing her frightened face, which had turned pale after completely forgetting about Alexander's habit of keeping all evidence even in his absence.

'No no.. this can't be happening! How could I forget that he keeps his recording to collect evidence! Ellie! Stupid girl. What other reasons do you have now?

Most importantly Alexander hates being lied to! Forget Astoria, at least she is his family friend and with her connections, Alexander won't do anything to her. But you are nobody now! 

Maybe the Alexander from the past would have saved you a hundred times by now, but this is Alexander not-fallen-for-Eleanora Laurent! You are bound to die now! Ellie, you should have said I love you dad and mum before leaving and died peacefully today. Now you won't-' Eleanora was still babbling from her fears when Alexander spoke after he was finished listening to the entire recording.

"Eleanora, look at me." His voice was authoritative, one that gave you no chance to object.
