To keep her safe

By the time they finished all the food on the table, Kael looked at her face intently, as if he was curious about something.

"What? is there something wrong with my face?" she asked, touching her face to check if there is any of the bread crumbs on her face. She even went down to her neck to see if there is any, but she found none.

"No"

"Then why did you look at me like that?"

"I wonder why you didn't even ask anything about the food that we ate just now"

"I was famished that I forgot to ask. But now that you mention it, did Clause and Lauren cook all of this?"

"No, the palace chefs cooked it"

"I see.. he must be a very talented one, the steak especially, was very tender and savoury, it really suit to my taste" she smile happily.

"I'm glad you like the steak, do you know what kind of meat they use to cook it?" he smirked.

"Isn't it was from a cow?"

"This castle situated in the Dark Forest, do you think that there is any cow around here?" he replied, still smirking.

"Well.. it doesn't taste like fish to me" she said while thinking.

Kael looked at her with his teasing smile.

"Do I really need to know about it?"

"Aren't you normally a curious one?"

"it's just steak... wait! this is the devil's castle! Vampires live here and the werewolves guarding the area! that's.. the meat.. the steak just now.. don't tell me.." she stuttered, horrified to her own thought. Kathleen's face went paled, she almost throw out everything she had just now.

Laughing at his bride's reaction, he went closer to her and put his hand on her shoulder, "relax my darling, it is not like what you on your mind right now. Come, let me show you something that you might find it interesting"

"Are you sure the steak was not made from human's flesh?" she asked, not sure whether to trust him or not. It was proven that Kael is a teaser from what she had experienced so far. She looked at him suspiciously.

"Come with me" he said helping her up from the chair and hold her hand to guide her to the chamber's balcony.

Outside the room, on the balcony, it was night time. The full moon shine brightly, lighten up the palace ground.

"This is so weird" she exclaimed.

"Why?"

"You said before that there is always thick clouds on the Dark Forest area, then why at night time like this there isn't cloud up there?"

"It is only made it that way ti cover the sun light, it didn't applied for night time. Moreover, the moon light is important for the werewolves"

"Was it for the werewolves to see clearly when it's dark at night?" she asked innocently.

"They don't need the moon to see clearly at night, darling" said Kael, embracing his wife to keep her warm in the night breeze.

"The werewolves have clear vision just like us devils and the vampires in the dark. The moon light is their main source of power. They can go in full power whenever it's full moon" he added.

"I see. I'm sorry, I must have sound so stupid, I don't have enough knowledge about the night creatures" she said ashamed of her lack of knowledge.

"It's totally fine Kathleen. Now if you don't have any more questions, look down to the ground, at our left side. Can you see the meadow?"

Guiding her eyes to where Kael pointed, she saw the lushly green meadow not far from the castle.

A herd of four legged animals caught her attention.

"It that a deer?" she asked.

"Yes it is, my dear" they both laughed at the rhythm.

"Kael, am I allowed to walk around the castle area?"

"I'm sorry but I can't allow you to be out of this room. It's fine when I'm around, but there will be time where I have to go out to do something and as you out of my reach, worried me. It will be much safer for you to stay here".

"But the vampires can still force enter this room if they want to, right? They were strong enough to do that".

"Remember the last time when I went to meet you at night, and I have put a symbol on your hand?"

"Yes, I remember. You said the night creatures are afraid of it. It is still attached to my skin, look.." she said while showing him the symbol on her back hand.

"The symbol is like a curse for them. It is true that this will prevent them from hurting you, but inside this room where my presence is the most apparent, is the only place where it have its full power to protect you. Outside this room, Sinners overpowered me, it's dangerous for you" explained Kael.

"Then I have to stay inside for the rest of my life?"

"I will take you out sometime, when I feel like it is safe for you to be out"

"Alright, I understand. Thank you for thinking about my safety Kael, I will stay inside and wait for you to take me out" she said smiling at him understandingly.

"Good girl" he replied with a kiss on her forehead.

Kael took her inside when she yawned out of lack of sleep. He let her sleep for a few more hour. 'I let you get some rest for now darling, when you wake up, we shall have another deep rapture activity' he thought to himself as he gave her another kiss on her forehead.
