Chapter 8: Surprise Visit!

The following morning, as Angelica was getting herself ready for their day out together, there was a knock on the door.

" Higurashi-San, there's a knock on the door. What should I do?" Angel asked from afar.

Angelica responded: " Open the door and ask what that person wants. I'll be there in a minute".

Angel walked towards the door very slowly. Meanwhile, Angelica was getting her hair done as soon as possible.

" Hello! Who are you looking for?" Angel opens the door to Francois unbeknownst to who he is.

Francois glanced at Angel from every angle and the constant stares started making him feel uncomfortable.

" I'm Francois Shan and I'm here to meet my girlfriend Angelica. Is she there?" He introduced himself before Angel.

Hearing the word " Girlfriend" from Francois' mouth made Angel's heart ache and he couldn't tell why it was happening.

" Higurashi-San is taking a shower. You can wait for her to attend to you or you can leave her a note". He answered.

" No, that's okay! I'd rather wait for her". Francois came inside and Angel closed the door.

Francois sits somewhere in the living room and Angel retook his seat which was far away from where Francois was seated at.

" Why are you sitting so far away? Is there a problem?" Francois asked suspiciously.

" No, there isn't! I like where I'm seated at". He responded enigmatically.

Francois couldn't help but think that something was wrong with Angel. He decided to ask him more questions to test his reactions.

" You're Angel Jay, aren't you?" He asks.

" Yes, I am!" He nodded.

( Did Higurashi-San tell him about me?)

" Your name is enigmatic just like your personality which makes me think that you might not be from here. Who are you and where are you from?"

Angel froze as he didn't know how to answer Francois' numerous questions. Francois was staring at him once again and that made Angel even more uneasy than before. Thinking of a plausible story to tell him, Angelica appeared in the living room, saving Angel on the spot.

" Francois, what a pleasant surprise! What brings you to my humble home?" Francois' attention shifted to Angelica who was wearing a light blue dress.

" Angelica, you're very stunning in this blue dress". He complimented her outfit.

" Thanks, Francois! You're not bad yourself".

Angelica shifted her attention to Angel who was still frozen due to Francois' numerous interrogations.

( Why is Angel in that state? What did Francois tell him while I was absent?)

" Angel, weren't you in the middle of making breakfast?" I signaled to Angel from the corner of my eye for him to leave the living room.

" Yes, Higurashi-San!" He stood up and left the living room.

Angelica got seated and thought of asking Francois about what happened with Angel.

" I wasn't expecting you, Francois. Have you come here for something?" I asked him straightforwardly.

" Why are you asking me all those questions? Can't I come to see my girlfriend whenever I want?" He avoided my question swiftly.

" You haven't answered my question, Francois. What's the real purpose of your venue today?"

" I came here to see your tenant and from what I saw, he's very enigmatic". He finally answered the question.

" Enigmatic? In what way?" I asked.

" Before you came in, I was asking him where he was from and that he didn't look like someone from our world and he froze. That guy, Angel Jay, is very suspicious and enigmatic". He answered very assertively.

( Francois asked him about his origins! It's no wonder he was in that state when I came in. He was searching for someone to save him and I just happened to come in at the opportune moment).

" Have you thought of what I told you the other day? Will you accept my offer?" He brought out the conversation they had the other day.

( Francois is so adamant about me kicking Angel out which makes me wonder why that is so. It can't only be because we're living together, just the two of us. There must be another hidden reason which only Francois knows).

" Let me ask you something, Francois and I want your complete honesty about it".

" What?"

" What's the real purpose that you want me to kick Angel out of my house?"

…

" I know it isn't because of the living conditions alone. I know there's something else and I'd like to know what that is".

…

Angel who was hidden in a corner of the living room heard everything.

( I see! The solution Higurashi-San talked about is related to him. He wants Higurashi-San to kick me out of here).

Angel thought back on the conversation he had with Angelica regarding his living conditions and finally reached a positive decision.

( Higurashi-San's offer, I think I'm going to accept it. That way, Higurashi-San will be relieved and the matter will be solved for good).

Back in the living room, Francois answered Angelica's question by saying: " That guy is pretty good looking and that's making me uneasy".

( So, that's it! He's jealous).

" Let me get this right!----- The primary reason as to why I should kick Angel out of my house is because of your jealousy, am I right?" I asked him straightforwardly.

…

" I wasn't expecting this from you, Francois. How can you be insecure about our relationship? Am I making you insecure?" I said with a sigh of disappointment.

" It isn't about you, Angelica. Don't get mad! I trust you completely, believe me! It's him that I don't trust. Leaving together like this under the same roof could create romantic feelings on his part which is what I want to prevent at all cost. You're my girlfriend and I only want the best for you and our relationship". He makes his point clear to me as crystal water.

…

" It's not like I'm asking to leave him out on the streets or anything. I already have lodging ready for him. All I need is your approbation to commence with the paperwork". He said to me swiftly.

" I know this situation isn't easy for you but, I'm sorry. I can't kick him out as you asked". After being silent for a while, I finally resumed my silence.

" Why are you so adamant about keeping him here despite all the trouble it may cause you?" He shouted with slight anger in his tone.

Just then, Angel showed up from the kitchen, pushing a tray towards the dining room before coming towards the living room soon after.

As he stood three meters away from them, he said straightforwardly: " Higurashi-San won't face any trouble because of me".

( Did Angel hear our conversation?)

" I see that you heard our conversation. You must agree with me that moving out is the best option, right?" He slightly grinned.

…

" Don't worry about a thing though because I have a new lodging ready for you to inhabit. All you have to do is pack your belongings". He said further.

( Putting the whole living conditions aside and the job, Angel didn't want to live here in the first place. Maybe, he'll accept Francois' offer and move out).

" Higurashi-San and I don't have the kind of relationship you think we have. The only relationship we share is that of an employer-employee relationship". He uttered in an assertive tone.

" Employer-Employee relationship!"

" Yes! Let me reintroduce myself to you!"

???

" I'm Angel Jay, Higurashi-San's housekeeper". Francois was stunned by the turn of events. Angelica was rather happy that Angel had finally accepted her job offer.
