Chapter 6: Not human!

( Is this the place? Let me look to make sure I got the right place).

Angel, who was looking for Angelica to hand her lunch box to her, landed in the school cafeteria. He looked around to make sure he had landed at the right place.

Fukuoka Daiichi High School Cafeteria

" Where's your lunch, Angelica? Haven't you brought it with you today?" Anna asked as she didn't see her friend's lunch anywhere.

Angelica replied:" I kind of forgot it at home. I was in a hurry this morning, so I forgot my lunch".

" We'll share our lunch with you". Sarah offered to share her lunch with me.

" There's no need!" Francois appeared out of nowhere as we were just about to start eating.

" Francois?" Anna was the first of us to react.

" When have you arrived?" Sarah questioned him.

" I arrived just in time and got to know that Angelica forgot her lunch. Here, Angelica! Take this!" Francois offered to share his lunch box with me instead.

Angelica Higurashi

(Over there isn't that-----------------------)

Angelica spotted a silhouette in the distance and recognized the person from behind. As she was trying to look into it more clearly, Francois interrupted her.

" What are you thinking about?"

" Nothing!" I said in response.

(What is he doing here?)

As I was still looking in the distance of the cafeteria, Francois got my attention back to him. He said: " About what you promised me the other day, are you ready to keep it?"

( At a time like this, he's demanding the truth? Well, as things stand, why not? I might as well tell him the truth now than keep on reporting it).

" The man you had over the phone when you contacted me the other day is named Angel Jay. I know it might be hard to believe but, he fell from the sky and crashed at my doorstep. He was injured, so I tended to his injuries. He had no place to go, so I offered him squatting at my place for some time. He accepted the offer, but in exchange, he offered to do the chores around the house. In a word, that's what happened". I summarized the situation to him in as little as a few sentences.

I looked at Francois to see his reaction after everything that I had told him. After all, what I told him is unbelievable. It's more like something out of a fairytale. He'll certainly tell me that he doesn't believe me at all or so I thought.

" I believe you, Angelica. What you said sounds plausible, but, there's something—-------" Francois said halfway through as he left his sentence unfinished.

" What's the matter, Francois?" I asked.

He responded nonchalantly: " Him falling from the sky doesn't seem human, wouldn't you say? I don't want to make it awkward but I'm afraid that you got yourself in some trouble.

( Now that he mentions it, I didn't give it much thought back then, but, how could someone fall from the sky? Could it be as Francois said? Is he not human?)

( Angel must be here for something. Maybe, he came here to bring me my lunchbox).

" Please excuse me! I have to use the bathroom".

As Angelica left their table, Francois turned to the girls and asked them the following question:" How is that young man? How is he physically?"

" If you must know, he's increasingly handsome". Sarah answered Francois' question.

" Is that so?" He sighed.

" You shouldn't be jealous, Francois. Angelica's your girlfriend. You should have trust in your relationship". Anna said in addition.

( Where is she? Why can't I see her anywhere?)

Angel was unable to find Angelica anywhere as the cafeteria was very large and there were a lot of people around.

" Who are you and what are you doing here?" A classmate asked him.

" Don't come near me! Stay away! Stay away from me! Don't come any closer!" Angel schooled backward.

" What's wrong? Why are you so scared?"

" Stay away!"

By schooling backward inadvertently, his foot bumped into a rock on its way and his injuries reopened as a consequence.

" Don't get any closer!"

" It's you, Angelica?"

Angelica came to Angel's rescue just in the nick of time.

" He's with me! You may go now!"

" See you later, Angelica!" The crowds dispersed as everyone went their separate ways.

" Are you okay?"

Without notice, Angel hugged me tightly. His action didn't surprise me as much as it did in the beginning. It was becoming a bit like a routine.

" What's wrong, Angel?"

He was trembling. It might have been because of the crowd is what I thought as I held him close in my protective arms.

" I was so scared! I was so afraid of not finding you". He sobbed.

" You're afraid of people, so why have you come out? What was so important for you to come all the way here?"

" I came here to give you this".

In the precipitation, I didn't see that he was holding a bag with him. He opened the bag and—-------

" My lunch? Thanks for bringing it to me!" I took the lunchbox and thanked him.

" You're very welcome! I'll take my leave".

Blushing slightly, he turned around to leave.

" Can you get home by yourself?" I asked out of concern as I was worried about his injuries.

" Yes, don't worry! See you at home!"

I grabbed his hand suddenly as he was leaving, forgetting in the process that he disliked being touched. Surprisingly, he didn't look disdained by my touch. I dragged him to one of the benches and made him sit. I looked at his opened wounds, concerned.

( She's worried about my wounds suddenly opening up!)

I didn't have any bandages with me, so I used my handkerchief as a bandage for his wound.

" Be careful when going home!" I sent him off with a smile.

" Yes! I'll wait for you at home". He walked off from the cafeteria.

Fukuoka Daiichi High School Cafeteria

" You're back!" I got back to the others with Sarah being the first to notice me as I was getting closer and closer to our table.

" Sorry for taking so long!" I sit back in my seat.

" What's that in your hand?" Anna curiously asks me.

" Ah, this? It's my lunch!" I said in response.

" Your lunch? How did you get it?" Francois inquisitively asked.

" Someone came by to deliver it to me".

" By someone, do you mean the guy squatting at your house?" He asked doubtfully.

" Yes!"
