Chapter 19
At least one good thing came out of this night: Julien was now certain that he would not have any desire to see Gabriel again. For the past several months, he had been growing concerned that the Angel had some sort of strange hold on him that he was unable to shake. Gabriel had never been able to engage any emotion other than lust from Julien, but that had been worrisome enough. As for his actual affections, Julien kept them closely guarded and always had. When he was growing up, those very affections had been the prize his doting but warring parents always fought over, so Julien had always doled them out as carefully as possible to ensure that neither felt slighted.
