The Demon Twins

"I've heard the rumors but you two truly look nothing alike." "Does it matter?" "I suppose not, kill me off then." "It's my turn, Louis." "Get on with it then." With a loud laugh, the giant man brought down his hammer. With a squelching sound, a head was ground to a paste. This story centers around twins, starting off from their youth they go through a gradual progress in getting stronger. The stronger they become, however, they realize more and more that they will never get peace. *** Disclaimer: Firstly, this is my first long novel. This story will be slow, hopefully, I can do proper world-building. Power progression also won't be all too fast. I have no editor, so grammar might be off at some places. Hopefully, you'll enjoy reading it.

Chapter 3

Opening it, the four of them were greeted with a large dining table, at the very end was a man of large stature, although he seemed to be into his forties the ages were kind on him, the very slight wrinkles around his eyes showed that he had smiled a lot.

Both his eyes and hair were dark brown, and his face showed that he must have been quite the looker during his youth, he had broad shoulders and calluses on his palms and knuckles. Behind him was a painting of himself, in a military suit with a greatsword, in the painting he was smiling brightly.

Beside him was a woman whose eyes were burning with jealousy, staring daggers at the trio. She too was attractive in her own right, and the accessories that accompanied her helped that fact shine.

In front of her was a boy, who quite obviously inherited his parents' good looks and was similar in stature to both Louis and Arthur, he gave off a look of curiosity.

"Welcome," the man seated at the end of the table said with a smile. While both Louis and Arthur didn't know what to say Mallory stepped up and said, "Thank you for having us."

Once the trio found their seats the food quickly came in, delicacies that weren't easily seen came out in droves and the twins quickly found themselves eating as much as they could.

While the three adults conversed quietly the unfamiliar boy asked, "How old are you two?" The twins looked up from their food and Louis replied, "We're both six." The boy looked surprised, "You're twins? You two look nothing alike!" The twins nodded as they kept eating what they thought to be the best food they've had during their lives.

Darion seemed quite interested in what the children were saying and asked Mallory, "So those two were your sister's children?" "Yes, my sister passed away due to childbirth so I took care of them." "It must have been hard on you." "No, not at all, they're quite good kids, I love them as they're my own."

Meanwhile, the conversation among the children went on. Arthur seemed as interested in the other boy as the boy was interested in them. "What's your name?" Arthur asked. The boy replied with a bit of pride, "My name is Augustus Bellthorne." Augustus quickly asked the same question in which Arthur replied, "My name is Arthur and my brother is Louis."

Augustus seemed a bit confused, "You two don't have last names?" "Only the nobility have last names," Louis replied while biting into his second chicken leg. The conversation quickly strode on until it led to the question most common throughout the history of humanity. "So what're your guys' attributes?" Augustus asked.

"Basic ice," Louis replied.

"Basic lava," Arthur replied.

"Wow, you two were both born with category three?" Augustus seemed surprised. Arthur quickly asked the same question to Augustus who replied with pride, "Bloodline lightning." While Arthur looked amazed Louis clicked his tongue inwardly.
