1 Prologue

In the stony plain north of Blossom Petal Mountain, there lived humans ignorant to Martial Arts and Immortality. A beautiful village, surrounded by blossoms and petals and a field of translucent jaded rocks.

Tian Hu, the little ten-year boy who ventured into the outer world with an Immortal, was now a dashing middle-aged man, bringing a little girl around the age of six on his return. Shortly after his return, cheap alcohols and dry meat prepared for winter were unload to celebrate the joyous day.

Five months later, smokes and mists hovered up above Blossom Village and burning flames scorched the huts into a pile of ashes. On the cavern southeast of Blossom Village, Tian Hu looked at his hometown turning into a slaughterhouse. Although he was one mile away from the village, he could hear the screams of agony that echoed into the world like a thunderclap.

"Everyone! Tian'er!" Tian Hu cried. "How did this happen!!"

Subconsciously, the middle-aged man gritted his teeth as he hurried to his destination. The sweat on his forehead was apparent to the uneasiness he felt.

His feet were as horses, bolting into the canopy of trees. Wild animals who dared to obstruct him was either chopped into two pieces by the sword on his waist or died with holes on their stomach. There were still remnants of spiritual energy lingering around the dead bodies of the wild animals, indicating the hunter who killed them was a Foundation Establishment. From the looks of it, the hunter should have entered the realm recently.

In the span of two breathe, Tian Hu arrived at the rear of the village. He was panting heavily. His chest was tight but he still preserves and looked at the burning village right in front of him.

As he moved closer and closer to the village, corpses were everywhere. Some were burnt into charred by the flames which Tian Hu couldn't identify who were they. But he did notice familiar faces amongst the corpses whose death wasn't caused by the flames, a woman desperately hugging a little boy. As he saw what's the cause of the death of this mother and child, a spear piercing both of them together, Tian Hu turned around and continued moving deeper into the village with tears streaming out from his eyes.

"Tian'er..." Tian Hu felt his heart tearing apart from the wreckage. He desperately searched amidst the village, hoping to find a little girl wearing a pink dress and the treasured ribbon she always used to tie her hair.

Tian'er was Tian Hu's daughter. After Tian Hu's dao companion left the world due to worldly interference, Tian Hu settled in his hometown bringing his wife's promise to take care of their child.

Truth to be told, Tian Hu partially guess who's behind this slaughter — Chen Jiyu, his wife's childhood sweetheart, who excels in martial arts and was a well-renowned genius of Sky Reaching Sect: Tian Hu's former sect.

"So they came?" Tian Hu bitterly laughed. He had hidden in this desolated land, but they still find him to this cornerstone. If anything happens to Tian'er. Chen Jiyu, you'll feel my wrath!

Tian Hu moved forward. As he arrived at the west of the village, the foggy surrounding diminished. And what appeared on his front was a man sitting atop a pile of corpses.

The man exhibits an indifferent face. He had a piercing look and sturdy build. He held a spear in his hand, and there was something that pierced in its' tip.

As Tian Hu moved closer, the smoke entirely disappeared, and there he saw the spear with the head of a little girl on its' tip.

Such a scene electrified Tian Hu as if his entire soul left his body. His feet lost their strength, causing him to kneel on the ground. Tian Hu held his head and continue shaking his head with tears flowing out of his eyes.

"No. No. No. This is not real!" Tian Hu laughed. "This must be a dream. Right. Right. This is illusion."

"Foolish." The man replied. Tian Hu breathed heavily as he grasped his chest. He managed to take a glance at the man and gritted his teeth.

"MU TIAN!" Tian Hu swang his sword, and a crescent slash, filled with Sword Qi, materialized to the air heading toward the man.

"Hmph!" The man snorted, causing the slash to shatter, and the remnant of his voice knock Tian Hu from afar.

"Why?" Tian Hu asked, wiping the blood on his lips as he stared resentfully. "Five months ago before we left, she called you uncle. After we went to hiding she asks me if she could still meet her uncle. Why did you include her? If you're here to kill me, why not me? Why?!"

The man stopped on his track. There was a concealed emotion deep within his cold eyes, followed by a shake on his head. "I treat her as a niece even on her death. Tian Hu, you cause the death of Jing'er. And you caused the death of our Master. You disappointed me. I want to kill you but I can't. Young Master said as long as I bring the head of your daughter, annihilate your hometown, and kill you, my loyalty is reassured."

"Hahahhaha!" Tian Hu laughed, his voice hoarse and rough. His laugh was more like a hysterical madman. As he stood up and gripped his sword, his laughter ceased. "So in other words you killed my daughter to save your life."

Tian Hu looked at the spearman with deep hatred.

"You're the traitor! You killed Tian'er. You betrayed her trust. You have no right to reason out to me. You're a traitor, a scum!"

As he spoke, Tian Hu gripped his sword and sent three consecutive sword slash to the man with a spear. However, the man merely postured a punch and the three sword slashes were overwhelmed. After the disappearance of the three sword slash, the Fist manifestation of the man with spear continued towards Tian Hu, causing Tian Hu to cough out blood as he flew to the wall. The remnants of the flames on the wooden wall further cause Tian Hu to scream in pain.

"Tian Hu, don't turn white to black." The man with the spear walk towards him. "You're the one that caused Master's death! I won't kill you today and go run with your tortoise shell. If you want to take revenge, I'll welcome you anytime."

He then followed a mockery: "But I guess with your mediocre talent, you can't do anything. You're weak and powerless. You watch your wife killed herself. You're a coward who hides and use master to shield your life. And now, you watch your hometown burning into nothingness. The perpetrator is in front of you, but you're powerless to avenge your daughter and your village. You're nothing but trash."

The spearman Mu Tian leaned to Tian Hu's ears. "But don't worry. As your Senior Brother, I'll take revenge for your wife and master. Be grateful."

Tian Hu wanted to speak back, but Mu Tian's strike causes him severe injuries. He helplessly watches Mu Tian disappear from his sight with the head of his daughter.

At this moment, Tian Hu finally realized.

He was weak. In this world where power was absolute, the world of Martial Artists had no place for him.

With that thought, Tian Hu's willpower crumbled. His vision blurred and soon lost consciousness.
