Chapter 3: To Learn is to Get Stronger

"You must be new here, kid. Take a seat at the back." I habitually bowed before taking one of the vacant seats.

"Two more kids before I start my class." Not long after, a kid entered the room. There was also another one after him.

"Alright. Welcome to my class. I am Negisto Kaneki, in charge of y'alls asses for two weeks." He wrote his name in demonic language that we can automatically understand.

"Today, our topic is based on Demons and the Introductions of the Demon World." Everyone went quiet.

"Demons are immortal beings that exists to suffer and pay the price for the sins of their past lives. That means no matter how much you kill yourself, you will respawn back to where you died. Not only that, everything that you worked hard for will be gone the moment you die."

"This is why this world is called Hell. Speaking of Hell," He pulled a roll of map, similar to the image that the guy told me. "this is a map of the whole Demon World." He summoned a stick and circled an area.

"This is the Outer Demon World, where demons are born and taken care of for two weeks. Right here is the north where we are right now." A classmate raised their hand. He was given permission to speak.

"Why is the Outer Demon World on the inside?"

"It's because the gate to the Demon World lies somewhere around here. As for where it is, no one knows. Any other questions before we move on?" Another one raised their hand.

"Now that we saw the map of the whole Demon World, isn't it time for us to move on to the next topic? I'm pretty sure everyone here already knows about how the Demon World works, right suckers?" Everyone got offended and started yelling at him.

"Damn children." The teacher sighed loudly. "Alright, I guess it's time for you to learn the true nature of this world." I watched as everyone else levitated. This teacher looks like he will be a strict and lazy one.

"Let me go!"

"Damn it!" They squirmed as chains appeared and enveloped their bodies.

"Since you need to be taught about how this world works, I will need you to be chained for the rest of the lesson." That looks too harsh.

"Since it's what you deserve anyway, I won't hear anything from you all until tomorrow. Anyways, where was I again?" He looked at my direction, where me and the rest of the people in the back are watching quietly.

"This treatment is nothing compared to what you will witness in the future, so prepare your guts as soon as you take a step outside." Everyone else fell down to their seats while he turned around to look at a notebook.

"Alright, on to each of the rulers in the Inner Demon World. There are 7 lands in that area, each ruled by the strongest of them all." He circled an area in the left corner of the map.

"For example, this is the Land of Lust. The demon king that rule this area is named Salvi Hogandy. Next to this area is the Land of Sloth, ruled by Deran Villarente." He sighed for a bit, realizing that explaining things is a pain, so he wrote each name inside their corresponding land.

"Arthur Belphegos." The Demon King of Pride. The ruler of the land where I was born.

"Hey, can you see what's in the front?" I looked beside me, where my seatmate was jotting down notes.

"Of course, let me write it down for you." He handed me his notebook and pencil. Then, I wrote pretty much the whole map. Jennifer Quintillo for Envy, Xenon Lee for Glutton, Vemos for Wrath, and Wessex Charlemagne for Greed.

"This is what I see, so don't blame me for any mistakes." I gave him back his notes. For some reason, he had a smug look in his face. He looks like a bully.

"Listen up, everyone. Remember the names of those Demon Kings you learned back in the Human Realm? Yeah, those are outdated, like the Kings from billions of years ago. These are the newest ones." He tapped the board with his wand twice.

"As I said earlier, Demon Kings are demons who rose to become the strongest ones in their respective land, that's why you shouldn't be jumping on the guns, you hear me?" My seatmate rose his hand.

"Kaneki, what happens if you become the Demon King?" He got his notes ready.

"Obviously you can just do whatever you want. Rebuild the whole land, slaughter everyone, rule your own domain, even try to take over another land. Although, that doesn't change the fact that you are a demon. You exist to suffer."

"So, being the Demon King means you get to take control over the whole land and that's it?"

"Yeah, that's it. Now that we're finished, I'll untie you all so go to your respective rooms and do whatever you want until tomorrow. Our lesson tomorrow will be about Demonic Magic, Rituals and Spells." Everyone was released, and another classmate raised her hand in hurry.

"Wait, you didn't teach us anything about the Outer Demon World!" The teacher glared at her as if he's looking at her soul.

"You don't need to learn anything about this world. Everything we teach you is the information you need in order to survive, and that's it. Class dismissed." He walked out first, looking like he was free from prison.

"Everyone, since we will be kicked out after two weeks anyway, why don't we all team up?" A kid blocked the door, preventing anyone from going out.

"Sounds like a great idea! I'm in!" Five people approached the kid.

"Anyone else?" My seatmate stood up and closed his notebook.

"Girl, we're all demons here. No one is falling for your scheme." He pushed her away and opened the door.

"GET BACK HERE! I'M NOT SOMEONE WHO USES PEOPLE LIKE YOU!" She clenched her teeth as he entered the classroom again. "Apologize! You just pushed me like that!"

"What are you, a kid? No one is gonna apologize even if I stabbed you." He summoned his pen and pointed it at her neck. "Just like Kaneki said, this is the Demon World, not some apocalyptic earth. Get in your senses." The pen disappeared like it was never there.

"Tsk, you just ruined my plan."

"Exactly." He left again together with the five people earlier. Everyone dispersed as she was left there dumbfounded. I just sat in my seat and waited for her to leave.

Time passed and she never left. It also seemed like she never noticed me since she's mumbling about something I cannot comprehend.

"That was the first step of my plan but it's already ruined!" I watched her stomp in anger as I contemplate about when will she leave. I was planning to use this time so I can plan my way out of here.

"Hey, you! When are you leaving? I need to use the classroom for something!" She yelped in surprise as I shouted at her.

"What the fuck? Since when were you here?" She ran to my seat for a proper conversation.

"I never left. I heard everything." I crossed my arms, demanding an answer from her.

"Why are all my plans a failure?" She stomped harder, complaining about everything.

"You act like a kid."

"Of course, because I really am a kid! I died when I was seven!" Whoa, kids really are spawns of devils!

"What did you do to get thrown here?" She sat next to me.

"I wanted that famous, new game Cyber World III, so I stole from a game shop. Unfortunately, the store owner caught me so I stabbed the guy with a loose wire." That's brutal, even more so coming from a seven year-old kid.

"Why didn't you just buy it?"

"Because I wasn't allowed to." Either she's a spoiled kid or someone that comes from a poor family. It's not of my business anyway, besides, what's done has already been done.

"Anyways, I need to use the classroom. If you can, will you please go out as soon as possible?" She shook her head and sat down.

"I told you mine, now it's your turn. What did you do to get thrown here?"

"Even if I knew, I won't be telling you."

"So you don't know?"

"I don't, now please get out." She sighed and stood up.

"Fine, I'm going. But since I told you my secret, we'll be friends from now on." What did I just hear?

"Just go away, don't talk to me again." She left, and it was finally my cue to continue doing my plans.
