CHAPTER 54: V DISAPPROVES

A loud knock echoed in The Queen's room. "Come in," she said.

V burst in, her face red. "What is the meaning of this?"

Queen Lili sat upright, the sheets fell off her bosom but she did not bother to cover up. "Good morning to you too V. To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"Enough with the act. Why do you have the boy running around the shore like some dog? I hear it was on your command."

"Exercise V and I don't see how that's a problem. Ki-an is a great teacher."

"He does not need to learn anything and I will prefer you ask me before making decisions by yourself."

"I asked him. I don't see why I have to explain myself to you, you aren't his mother and even his mother would appreciate him getting stronger."

"It is not necessary, I can protect him." She exclaimed.

"You won't be here forever!"

"Don't be so sure about that."

"I can't fathom your annoyance, is there something you aren't saying?"

"Now, who is making assumptions? We had a deal, demon, we stay with you for as long you want and we can leave."

"A pact and I don't see how this breaches that."

"When are we leaving?"

"When I say so."

"Let me guess, you intend to teach him magic."

"Even I would do something that radical. However, I was thinking you would. Dark magic is all we know."

"There is no need to," she turned her back and started walking away.

"Just so you know. I don't trust you human, I don't think I ever will. Whatever your plan is with the boy, you must know that I will do all I can do to stop you."

V turned and smirked. "We have a pact demon, no matter how long it takes, you have to let us go eventually. I have got all the patience in the world, I can wait. Besides, if the boy decides he wants to leave you can't keep him here, can you?"

Lili's face fell. "You wouldn't dare."

"That's what I thought," V said with a smile. "Have your little fun, for now." With that, she was gone.

She quickly made her way to the beach, where she watched the boy run around. He did a few press-ups on the beach, some more exercises, and more running around.

For the first day, Ki-an was going easy on him in the slightest. V could not help but acknowledge that Ki-an knew what she was doing. It was a lot but she knew the boy's body could keep up.

His healing capabilities at this point were through the roof. He had picked up a broken glass a few days prior and as soon as he pulled out the glass, his wound closed up.

He no longer looked like a child, he was almost as tall as she was now and he had added a lot of flesh. Compared to when she had found him in prison, he looked a whole lot better.

She swore she could not see how this route was better. She was behind a month already as if the journey back wasn't long enough. The worst part was the Queen's idea. He didn't need to learn any fighting skills. The crew could keep him safe, after all, that's why they were hired.

Zek better has a good explanation for this. He had his good uses but most of the time, the bad side often overshadowed the good part.

Ki-an and the boy started walking toward her, they were done for the day. The boy looked exhausted while Ki-an looked proud.

"V," he said when he got close enough. "You came to watch me."

She shrugged. "I didn't have anything better to do. Do you really want to train?" She asked.

"Yes," he said a little too happily in her opinion.

"You don't have to. I will gladly protect you even if it costs me my life." There was no cheesiness in these words, V meant it.

"I don't want that." Fate said with his head down. "At some point, I will slow you down and we will take losses. I can't die but I want to be able to help you."

"You don't have to. I have help. Zek and Dewdrop, it's their job to make sure that we reach my hometown safely."

"I want to do this. Being powerless and having to rely on people sucks. I want to do this for myself. Maybe, if I had some power I would have rescued myself, and maybe my mother would still be alive."

"I see if that is what you want. Do as you like." V said and stood to her feet. She dusted the sand off her body and started to walk away.

She was not worried but she wanted to avoid every setback, however, all she has gotten has been nothing but setbacks. Her major worry was leaving the town, she intended on working towards that.

She had not minded staying as she had seen the improvements in the boy's health and since the journey was a long one, it was better for him to be in good health but that was over, they needed to leave.

"Hey V!" Ameita called.

V raised her head to look at the demon and looked away.

"V," Ameita called again.

She ignored the demon again, she had gotten distracted. She had a goal and if she was not careful she wouldn't fulfill it. She had no intention of letting a few demons get in her way when she was so close.

Now that she had her wake-up call, she could act properly. She got to her room and locked the door. She needed a moment to herself to check things and see what step she could take.

She could not say anything wrong about the demons because it was against the pact which meant she would have to look for other ways to convince the boy that they should leave.

"V," Ameita called, which was followed by a knock.

She opened the door.

"Are you okay?" The demon asked.

V forced a smile. "I just have a lot on my mind."

"If you need anything. Let me know."

"I will, I just need to be alone for a while."

"Alright. See you at dinner."

"Not tonight."

The demon frowned but didn't say a word. V slowly closed the door, she will have to prevent herself from being seen as hostile. The Queen was already suspicious of her, she didn't want to make it worse.
