CHAPTER 4: DON’T KILL PHILLS

"Is it possible for me to lay low with you until nightfall? It will be pretty illogical to try to escape now." As she asked the question, she returned to her spot by the other table.

"Yeah, the only person that would show up in about two hours is Phills," he said and she raised her brow at him. "He is the boy who cleans after Felix is done with his nasty business. It is more for them than for me, the smell tends to get nasty. Today you are lucky to not see chunks of flesh lying around, Felix can be pretty enthusiastic sometimes. There was a time he ripped all the skin from my chest that I saw bone, it was a very gruesome sight. My inner organs were not very happy. It took me almost a full day to grow back all that skin but at least he left me for most of the day…"

He raised his head to look at her and then paused. "I am sorry," he apologized. "I have been here for so long, I don't think I know what is appropriate anymore."

"It is fine, besides the guards can hear you talk."

"Nah, don't worry about it. I talk to myself all the time, sometimes I even fake voices."

V jerked her head towards him. She did not have to say the words, he knew she thought he was crazy and she would not be wrong, he felt crazy.

"Too much. My bad. Also, they are pretty sure about their security that's why I have my doubts you can get me out of here alone." V glared at him.

He coughed, "Moving on. Why are you here so early though? If you are not making a move until nightfall why didn't you just show up then?"

She looked at her and rolled her eyes. "You don't have to worry about it."

"Um, I literally have all day." He gestured to the fact that he was chained up by lifting the chains. "Okay, maybe a few hours. A stranger just popped up in my cell, saying they would rescue me, the least they could do is give me a little info about themselves."

"But you are not asking about me, you are asking about why I am here now instead of later." She arched her head to the side as if she was addressing someone stupid.

"Small talks V, small talks. It seemed better than asking who are you and why are you here?"

"You know why I am here and I told you who I am, I am V."

He stared at her with a blank expression, "I can't tell if you are joking or serious but either way, I am pretty sure you are messy with me. Besides, your name does not necessarily say who you are and even though I know you are here to rescue, I still can help but wonder why anyone would do that."

She did not say anything for a couple of minutes. Fate's eyes darted back and forth in the awkward silence. "What is your name?" She asked after he was sure she was not going to say anything. She looked like she had given the question some thought before she asked it.

"Huh?" His eyes widened in horror. "You came to rescue me without doing any prior research. How are you sure that this is the right cell?"

She glared at him again, not bothering to hide how stupid she thought he was. "You have two freaking horns on your head even though it is very obvious you are human and no matter how you bleed, you won't die. I am pretty sure your name is not necessary to find. Besides, the magic spell used could never be wrong, it has taken years for us to be strong enough to use it."

"Uhm," he did not have a response to her words. She was right, his horns were the reason he was in this mess, and coupled with how fast he could heal. With the way a lot of people had reacted, he was pretty sure there was no human like him and if there was, they were pretty damn good at keeping themselves a secret.

He had more questions to ask but from the look on her face, he was pretty sure that was all he would get out of her and he was tired. All these were somehow taking a toll on him.

"Can you get me out of these chains then?" He asked. "It would definitely be easier to get out of here."

"Not yet, it will be better if Felix steps into this room and suspects nothing."

He blinked and blinked again, "I hate to break it to you but how will he suspect nothing when you are right there."

She grimaced, "I won't be so obvious when he walks in."

"Hmm," Fate murmured. He still saw this as a bad joke. As much as he wanted to get out of here, there was no way he could put his hopes in her even though she had more muscles than he would ever hope to get and that she would totally whoop his ass in a fight.

However,  this was a dungeon with a lot of guards and not just any dungeon, the famed inescapable dungeons of Euthunia. However, he wouldn't know for sure. All he knew was what he was told. So maybe Missy here might be able to get him out.

He closed his eyes and tried to rest his head. He was tired, hungry, and thirsty. A part of him tried to be excited but it was only when he was expecting something that he would get disappointed, for now, he would just go with the flow.

Fate jerked awake, he had not even been aware of sleeping. Almost immediately he knew what had woken him up. He could hear the keys turn a second time as the door unlocked. Fate knew the sound of the bolt would be next.

He was so infused in what had woken him up that he did not realize that V was by the door side with her hands raised, ready to smack whoever was coming in with a hammer that she had obviously picked from the table. It looked familiar and he did not recall seeing any hammer on her.

"Don't!" he yelled just as the door opened and Phills walked in, closing the door behind him but it was too late, V's hands were already coming down with a deadly force.
