god my town is boiling as it reached 37 degrees, even going outside for a second, I felt my skin burning from the sun, even the indoors was not safe as I needed to turn on my fan 24/7 to focus completely

"While it is true I have forgiven you, that does not mean everyone else will do the same," I said sternly.

"Thank you for giving me a chance," Liliruca replied, looking down at the ground as tears welled up in her eyes. Her voice quivered as she continued

"I won't waste this chance."

This scene triggered a buried painful memory from the depths of my mind.

-

"Mommy, Daddy, where are you going?" A vivid image of my younger self questioned.

"The Emperor has called us, dear. We need to go and fight in a war. You must be a good girl, stay here, and wait for us, okay?" A blurry image of a woman patted my head.

by now, I had forgotten how they looked as it was buried by the millions of faces I had massacred

"But I want to go with you!" Tears welled up in my young eyes.

"Honey, you can't. It's not safe there. Don't worry, we'll come back," she said, embracing my small figure. Another figure joined the hug.

"Don't worry; you're our strong daughter. Remember all the swordsmanship I taught you," a man's voice reassured me. He released the embrace and handed me a katana meant for an adult.

"Here, if you encounter any bad guys, use this to protect yourself while we're away."

"But I don't want you to go!" I cried out.

"I'm sorry, honey, but we have to. We promise to return in perfect health, okay?" The woman gave me one last hug and then they disappeared beyond the front door.

After that, I waited week after week without any news, praying to the heavens for their safety.

With the wealth my parents had left behind, I hired servants to take care of my needs. Then, one day, a knock at the door resounded.

Rushing to the door, I opened it, expecting the familiar hug from my parents.

Standing at the door was a soldier with a solemn face. With his helmet held over his chest, he delivered the heartbreaking news

My parents had perished on the battlefield, sacrificing themselves to give allied soldiers time to retreat.

In denial of this cruel reality, I resolved to become a soldier myself, driven by the hope of finding my parents still standing on the battlefield. I trained for years and eventually became a soldier, recapturing the land where my mother and father had last disappeared.

I had witnessed the true nature of this world. To me, it was clear that this world served as cruel entertainment for the gods above. Gods and humans were alike, looking down on those inferior to them and watching in amusement as they begged for a revelation that never came.

That day, I made an oath to the world: I would rise to levels beyond the gods and see the disbelief on their faces. I would stray from the path of justice and follow my desires.

That was the day the demoness of the battlefield was born.

As Liliruca struggled to hold back her tears, her resistance crumbled, and her tears fell to the ground.

judging from her demeanor, her parents had left her at a young age, and was forced to live a life of crime to gather money

Kneeling in front of her, I instinctively embraced her, leaving her stunned.

"You've done well to survive until this point. let go of the reluctance to show your feelings, I'm here to listen to all the sorrow and suffering you've endured," I said. I wished I had heard these words from my mother after finding her lifeless body.

Seeing a reflection of my former self in Liliruca, I decided that even if my mother hadn't said these words, I would be the one to speak them to others, the shared pain I had suffered before.

Liliruca's face broke down, and she cried as tears streamed down onto my shoulders. The cold breeze and the quiet night were the only witnesses to the child's sorrow. After a while, the sound of her cries began to fade.

I shifted my attention to her, and it seemed that the intensity of her emotions had overwhelmed her. She had cried herself to sleep right there in the alley.

With a sigh, I gently picked up her sleeping form and carried her to the Hostess of Fertility. As I looked at her peaceful face, I couldn't help but wonder how much I had changed.

A former demoness of the battlefield now feeling sympathy and empathy, it was a transformation that most soldiers would have found unbelievable. My heart was slowly regaining the humanity I had once discarded.

-

The sound of a ringing bell greeted me as I opened the door to the tavern. Mama Mia, the tavern's proprietor, looked up from the kitchen and noticed Liliruca in my arms.

"Welcome back! And who is that?" she inquired.

"Just a lost child I found," I replied before heading upstairs.

I carefully placed Liliruca on my bed and took a seat at the nearby table. With a sense of relief, I removed my blindfold, allowing my eyes to adjust to the world around me.

As I gazed at the blurry full moon through the window, I attempted to recollect any memories from my life that didn't revolve around combat. However, it proved to be a futile endeavor. My life had been consumed by warfare, with little room for anything else.

I let out an audible sigh, relaxing my body as I contemplated the new path I was embarking on. My gaze wandered back to the sleeping child occupying my bed, and it struck me that she had reminded me of a life of mine beyond vengeance and hatred
