Death to the demon

There was no signs of the invasion before it happened, let alone time for her to anticipate their arrival. After all, she was only a girl.

Men from the nearby village broke threw the door to her room, throwing her mind into a state of shock. Their footsteps echoed in her small wooded room, making her ears vibrate.

Their killing intent washing down her spine like a cold bucket of water.

The leader of the group, a man whom she recognized as the High Priest, shoved a porkly man with a chubby face toward her bed. His fat body stumbled a few steps from the sudden push, but quickly regained his balance and made a V-line to her bed.

"What are you waiting for? Grab her you stupid fool!" The Priest roared, showing a very unsightly and ugly expression.

The porkly man did as he was told and charged his fat body toward the girl. He grabbed a handful of her long silk like hair and pulled the girl from her spot, dragging her to the cold hard wood floor.

They took their turns beating her, one after another, each getting their fill of violence.

Not knowing what else to do to, the girl curled her small body into a ball, trying to protect herself the best she could against such cruelty.

Why was this happening?

She never asked the High Priest to bring her here, he simply did so on his own accord, and now he wanted to murder her in cold blood?

He said she would be safe with him! Now she had to die because she dared to trust him?

How could this world be so cruel? Not only did it strip her of all her memories, but now it was to strip her of her life as well?

The very man she thought she could trust had sold her out, and is now leading her to death's door!

Her whole body screamed in pain. It felt as if a thousand tiny knives tore their way through her milky white skin from each kick she received. Her lungs set to fire with each breath she inhaled, sending hot magma down her throat and into her heart.

Tears misted over her eyes from the pain, making her surroundings blurry and hard to see. Despite the agonizing pain she felt, her eyes still pored over the crowd, searching for that one familiar face. If he was going to kill her, then she would make him look her in the eyes to do it.

Hiding behind the group of men at the far corner of the room stood the High priest, stroking his long white beard with his wrinkled hand. Enjoying the show of his beasts taring apart the girl, arrogance and pleasure twisting his face into a wicked smile.

Killing her in her sleep would be to merciful! After all, as a priest it was his duty to extinguish the immoral souls that pledge the lower realm, murdering each and every one until none are left!

The high priest had his reasons for such strong hatred, the girl was a demon! A demon in the shape of a beautiful young girl, hiding among the sheep!

She even had him fooled. He found the girl on the bank of the river, completely unconscious. How was he to know the girl was from the demon race? She looked like a beautiful, normal fifteen or sixteen year old girl!

He would of continued on none the wiser if the girl's demon aura didn't reveal itself to him. When she at long last opened her big almond eyes, darkness took complete control of her milk chocolate eyes. The entirety of her eyes were consumed by a black mist, revealing her true monstrous nature!

He was a man of the true Gods, how could he bear to let such an atrocity taint the minds of his people? As a the High Priest of this village, it was his sworn duty protect his people from such Hell Spond!

What if she had whispered in the ears of their children and drove them all to madness, just as demons have done for centuries before!

The demon had to be purged, there was no other way.

He wasted no time In rallying the town folk behind him, leading them as if they were white knights about to save the realm from a horrifying dragon.

They truly believed they were doing the right thing, their minds completely wiped of guilt. Not an ounce of remorse could be seen on any of their faces.

Just as she was close to loosing consciousness, they dragged her limp body into the court yard, leaving a trail of bright red blood behind her.

The group of men held their torches high in the air, making their shadows dance menacingly across the woods behind them. A mixture of smoke and blood filled the air with a thick coppery odor.

The young girl was confused, she had only awoken moments before and these people already wanted to kill her! She had done them no harm, but here she was like a pig to the slaughter.

The men surrounded her, throwing anything their hands could find toward her frail body. A mixture of sticks and stones sliced open her skin, leaving several bleeding gashes across her once smooth skin.

"Die Demon!" screamed an older man in a black robe. He chucked a fist sized stone hitting her across her temple, coating her small oval face with a thick layer of warm blood.

A Demon?

Why would they call me such a thing?

She racked her mind for her missing memories in hopes she could find evidence of their slander, but it was in vain. Her mind was as empty as blank slate, nothing there but the brutal acts of the men accusing her now.

If any outsider were to see such a scene they would view it as several angry beasts destroying a small, delicate, powerless flower. Each man towering over her, nearly three times her size, making her look even more pitiful in comparison.

Her delicate brows knitted together, agony and confusion clearly showing on her pale face.

She had at least four broken ribs and her right forearm's bone was broken clean in half, crippling any chance to flee.

She tried to kept it down, but she couldn't control the continuous stream of blood that oozed from her mouth. A sweet copper taste over flowed her mouth, making her stomach turn against her.

Despite herself, darkness consumed her mind, bringing her into the soft cool embrace of nothingness. Her mind cut off from the out side world, no longer feeling any pain. Maybe she should just stay here. If she didn't wake up, would it be so bad?

Just as she felt the life begin to drift from her body, a voice call out to her, holding her firm within her own mind, not letting her soul to leave without saying it's peace.

A child's voice sweetly echoed around in her mind, like a enchanting harp strumming its strings.

"Kita, silly girl, why don't you kill those nasty men?"

Kita? Was that me?

It felt right to her, almost familiar.

How would I kill any of them? My bones are broken, and I've lost too much blood! Even on my best day, I couldn't last five minutes against even the smallest among them.

The voice in her head laughed, as if she told the worlds best joke. A child's sweet voice danced across the vast emptyness of her mind, as if talking to a good friend that had known her for years.

"Not be able to kill them? In What world?"

"Im weak" Kita said in reply, felling very dejected.

"You're not weak", retorted the voice, "Just simply lost. Since you have forgotten how, this big sister doesn't mind to remind your body of what it's capable of."

What her body was capable of?

Did this mean I could live to see another day?

"All you have to do is let your consciousness sleep, and let your subconscious take over. Then your body will do as it's done a thousand times before, and kill those you wish dead." the voice let out a child's girlish chuckle.

"Simply let the blackness consume you, this big sister will wake you when it is time."

Kita's heart was conflicted, she wanted nothing more than to live, but how could this little girl in her head be good news?

There wasn't a lot she knew these days, but she knew talking to a child within her own mind had to me the first signs of her loosing her mind!

Maybe she was struck in the head to the point of insanity?

But then again, the voice seemed to know her, it did know her name after all! How could it know something she herself did not and still be a figment of her imagination?

If she listened to it, not only would she live, but maybe even get some clues as to who she was?

Death was bearable, but living a life in constant confusion and fear of not knowing her own past was too much for her fragile mind to handle.

The more she thought on it, the more she felt she had no choice. This was the only way for her life to be spared, and there was no way she would lay down and die without a fight!

Just as the voice instructed, Kita turned off her consciousness. She felt as if she was simply asleep, her mind completely void of thoughts, fear or pain, the only thing left was a powerful darkness. And that darkness went on to consume her whole body.

The men thought they had completed their holy quest to slay the demon, and began to turn towards their homes, leaving her lifeless corpse to rot where it lay.

The lifeless body they were about to leave behind, suddenly started to pulse, just out of their view.

The sky above their heads became dark. Enormous rain clouds began to form fast enough for the human eyes to see, completely blocking the sun's ray. The air they breathed became dense and carried heavy on their shoulders.

They stopped mid step in union, dumb struck to natures sudden change. An eerie silence filled the court yard, no one dared to so much breathe from the intense fear they felt. A cold sweat broke out, and their blood ran cold as if the plague had entered their bodies one by one. turning the white as sheets.

-CRACK-

A distinct cracking echoed from behind them, breaking the silent's hold on them. The man closest to the lifeless corps suddenly felt a cold chill on the back of his neck, covering him head to toe with goose-bumps.

He slowly turned his head to look behind him, and found himself face to face with a demon!

She stood tall on her bare feet, her once white robe completely emerged in her own blood. Her long silky black hair was soaked with red, making it it cling to her body.

Her once cute milk chocolate eyes were completely transformed into two black demonic eyes. No sign of life shown behind those deep, terrifying, endless eyes.

Kita's body grabbed her own right arm with it's free hand and snapped the broken bone in her arm back into it's original place.

-CRACK-

Not an ounce of pain was shown on Kita's lifeless face, just a skin crawling blank stare. Like a rabid animal about to hunt down its prey, no emotion, just a desire to hunt.

The body's muscle memory only knew how to do one thing, kill what ever was in front of it. Everyone in front of her was an enemy that needed to be slaughtered.

If it stood against her, then it would cripple their legs so they could not stand. If they spoke against her. then it would rip out their tongues so they could not talk. And if they wished her death, then it would murder each and every last one of them, granting them a long and miserable death.

As fast as one could blink, the girl speared her left hand threw the nearby man's chest, ripping out his heart in one fell swoop. The man's fat body crumbled to the ground with one loud BANG.

The group turned their heads in union, to search were the bang originated from. And what they saw almost made their hearts stop!

They saw the girl with her endlessly black eyes already looking their way, the fat man's heart still gripped in her hand dripping fresh blood onto the ground. A crimson lake pulled around her feet, making everything around her illuminate a crimson glow.

Just as their eyes met her's, the body took off into a sprint toward them, giving them no time to flee. A mixture of fear and shock took over their faces.

She was dead! There was no doubt about it! They watched the light fade from her eyes.

A black misty aura circled around her body, then slowly concentrated itself toward the tips of her fingers, forming a deadly sharp point.

Her body moved as if the wind carried her, dancing around them with a petrifying ice cold glare.

A heavy force bound them to the ground they stood upon, making it impossible for their frightened legs to move.

With a flick of her slim wrist, she slashed the throats of the men as she glided past, dropping one man after the other like flies to the ground.

The court yard filled with their desperate cries, echoing off the trees and into her uncaring ears.

Soon, the court yard was piled high with corps , the air had a strong copper smell from the abundance to blood, pooling around their lifeless bodies like a ruby ocean swallowing them whole.

The only man left standing was The High Priest, the very man who seconds ago wanted to leave a her a pile of rotting flesh for the birds to pick clean. The table had completely turned, and he knew it.

He had courted death by targeting Kita, and now he would have to pay for it with his life.

Terror contorted his face, making him a pale shade of green then white. His knees buckled beneath him and he hit the ground with a lound 'thud'.

"Please spare me! I'll repent my ways, I swear! Just let me leave here with my life!" his face was covered in his own snott and tears. A sight quite unsightly.

Where was this remorse when he tried to kill her moments ago?

Kita's expression was void of any emotion, not feeling a thing for the man on his knees begging for his life. A strong killing intent washed over his whole body, and he felt his fate was clear. He wailed as loud as he could, his forehead touching the ground in a pitiful bow.

Kill.

Kita's body grabbed the High Priest's head with both hands, her fingers gripping his cheeks white from the pressure.

-CRUNCH-

As if she simply plucked a flower from the ground, she ripped the High Priest's head clean off his shoulders, resulting in a bright red shower to spray from his neck, covering her from head to toes in blood.

She watched as he fell to the ground, still spraying the air thick with blood. His body still twitching.

Now, completely free of all enemies, Kita's body began to wobble and feel unsteady. It stumbled backwards, falling toward the ground and landing flat on her back.

Her body was in desperate need to rest, and her wounds slowly began to heal, fast enough for the human eye to see, taking the last bit of its strength. Before returning her consciousness to her, it fell into a deep sleep right where her body laid. Smack down in the middle of dozens of dead corps, she had mercilessly slaughtered moments before.

Hours flew by in the blink of an eye, and a new days dawn shone its light over the morbid courtyard. Bird's flew high in the sky above her, making large circular motions, scoping out the feast they were about to have.

In the middle of the sea of death, laid a beautiful white lily of a girl, seemingly sleeping with a peaceful expression. He soft cheeks had a faint pink in them, that contrast against her blood splattered face.

"Wake up, silly girl, the humans are bound to look for their missing men" called out a familiar gentle voice, as light as a child's.

Kita's eyes began to stir, and flutter like a butterflys wings. The sun's Ray's violently invaded her sensitive eyes, making her pupils dilate. She squinted her big almond eyes, and pulled her out infront of her face, using her delicate hand to provide shade.

Her body felt stiff, and found it hard to move. The intense pain she once felt before faded away, the only pain left was simply some sore muscles and a few light bruises.

How was this possible? She was at death's door only hours ago! How was her body healed to such an extent?

Her muscles felt as if she had over extend them, but other than a bit of soreness she felt perfectly fine.

She studied her right arm in front of her face and gawked at it in amazement. It was completely healed! She distinctly remembered the bone being split in two! How was this possible?

Her mind raced, trying to wrap her head around everything that happened.

Slowly, she picked her small body up and stood firm on her feet. Everything around her was covered in a thick layer of blood, and she saw several dead bodies sprawled out before her. Their expressions frozen with a look of pure terror plastered across their pale faces.

Did I do this?

The last of her memories were of the voice in her head telling her to let her consciousness sleep, and let her subconscious take over...

Did my subconscious kill all these people?

Guilt swirled around in her heart, making her chocolate eyes glisten from the tears threatening to spill over on to her pink cheeks.

She forced her mind calm, and steady her breath.

It was either her life or theirs, she had no other choice. Shaking her head as if to shake loose the pain she felt for them from her mind.

She needed to leave from here as fast as her legs would carry her. The voice was right, the rest of their village would come looking for their missing brothers, and she needed to be gone from here when they arrived.

With a heavy heart, Kita made her way threw the dead and straight into the massive forest that surround the church. She gave one last glance at the destruction she left behind her, and a single tear fell down her face.

Her big almond eyes squeezed together tight, and brows creased together, leaving a pitiable frown curving down her lips.
