6 Chapter Six Construction

The squad of villagers the deity sent out quickly searched each house. They found many goblins lurking around, but no other monsters. After about an hour they had killed nine goblins and the village was completely purged from monsters. But the aftermath from the monster wave that passed through the village had left it in ruins and was in no condition to live in. Thankfully it was mid summer and winter wouldn't arrive just yet, so they had some time to reconstruct some houses before winter arrived.

The grass around the roads in the village had been ripped up and was now more like a field than a lawn.

The men who went out to hunt started making their journey back to the lodge. Their strength had been noticeably enhanced from before and their muscles had been shaped for killing and hunting.

As they were walking back to the lodge, a storm was brewing and rain started to pour on them. The rain quickly soaked the ground and mud was formed. Each step they took risked burying them in the mud.

When they finally reached the lodge they were covered in mud and drenched in water. As they opened the door they were greeted by the scared children and women who stayed. While the men who stayed were hard at work, storing their food and preparing for the aftermarch.

The squad told those who stayed about the situation and many were filled with dread, what would they do now?

After the bad news was spread, the village decided to stay in the lodge, meanwhile Jantyr was hard at work.

~Pov Jantyr~ (First person)

After they killed nine goblins and returned to the lodge, inside the safety of my walls, I could finally focus on other things. The first thing in order was to check on Jasmine.

I used the totem I gave her before she left, to see how she was doing.

There she sat, listening to stories of the distant kingdoms on this continent, oblivious to all the villages had experienced in the last twenty-four hours. The wizard who had taken her, was making faces and exaggerating his stories, while making the young women laugh, smiling when he did so. All in all a wholesome moment, unbefitting to what her people are going through. But I won't disturb her yet, as she can't help the situation in the slightest and talking to her now will be a waste of energy.

Now onto the next mission, how the hell do I help this village? I could make the villagers build a wall and strengthen the wooden wall. But the question is, how do I make a huge wall like that? But maybe I'm going about it wrong? Maybe instead of going big, I should go small!? This way it will be easier to protect and build and it's winter right now so they don't need to protect the fields yet, as they are needed in eight months or so. The farm animals and all non-sentient species in the village are all dead and don't need housing! Let's go with that then, let's build a small wall and protect that. While at it they should gather wood for shelter inside the walls and slowly build houses inside. Everyone can't stay inside the lodge, they will start getting sick and it will spread quickly, only on rainy days should they be here!

Now for the next mission, we need to secure all the food, so it must be moved to the lodge and slowly be stored inside other places without moisture to ruin the food and make it rot. Yes that's it, let's put the plans in order.

I focused my energy on conveying my thoughts to Lenart who was resting against one of the lodge's four walls.

"Lenart take the four Axes and the Saw in this village and start chopping down trees. You and your squad will go out, five will chop down trees, while the other two will guard you! You need to chop down a lot, because you're building a wall with that wood! Then you will have the village best craftsman make a door for that wall and a barricade for it. While you all are out, the rest of the men will be out and moving all the food to this lodge! After they're done they will help carry the chopped down trees back to the lodge, where the construction work will be done! Get to work!" I told him and went quiet.

Lenart quickly got to work and started ordering people around and they seemed to accept his orders, thinking it as my command, which it was.

The restless men who had organized everything seemed happy to finally be able to do something and rushed at the opportunity to help. I'm honestly shocked they accepted doing nothing while the others were sent on a hunt.

They quickly got to work, carrying out their orders. The strongest who had killed, rushed to the woods and the weaker carried food, while the women did nothing for the moment. as I don't want them risking their lives. There is a good reason for that of course, one man could have hundreds of children at the same time, while females could only have one. So for future generations as many women as possible was a must. Even if I had to make a harem or two.

Some days passed by without a hinge, no monster attack, or wild animal attack. Many trees had been chopped down and transported to the grounds around the lodge and were being debranched and prepared for their duty. As for the food, it had been moved successfully and had been sorted and placed in a safe place by the women inside me!

Some of the young boys started to volunteer to help with the construction of the wall.

The wall is being built fifty meters away from me and the trees are about half a meter in diameter. This means that they will need to cut down about six-hundred-twenty-eight trees to go all around the lodge and that's without taking the lodge into the equation! I think at least seven-hundred trees will be needed, just for the basic structure of the wall! Later we will make stairs and have a floor where we can look down from the wall, but that is a future project.

Six-hundred trees have been chopped down and three-hundred have been carried to the lodge, while fifty have been prepared for their job. But that is speeding up because of all the women and children who have started to help.

More and more joined to help and over a thousand trees had been chopped down and brought to the lodge. The strongest had stopped chopping down trees and returned to help build the wall and today marked the beginning of the construction as all had been prepared. Let's hope it goes smoothly.
