9 Chapter Nine Slaughter

Dark, red scales with an ugly snout. No hair and no shame. These are the beautiful monsters known as Kobold. Four of these naked, marvelous monsters had come to greet me and who am I to deny their pleasantries.

A sharp claw scratched my face and my instincts forced me into action. My spear shot out, passing by the closest Kobold. A small wound traced from my spear started pouring blood. Dead silence lurked between us, as the Kobold's drop of blood fell towards the wooden floor.

When the drop of blood hit the floor all five of us attacked at the same time. Just a second before one of the claws cut my face in two, I started sliding on the floor and passed them. jerking up I pierced the closest Kobold's leg with my spear. The Kobold bellowed out in pain. Its shriek of pain froze the other three, giving me the opportunity to end what I started.

With swift ruthlessness my spear found its way into the Kobolds neck. It yelped a last time before its lifeless corpse hit the ground.

I wiped some blood off my face and shook my spear to get rid of the excess blood. Then I jumped to the side. At the place I just stood a Kobold's claw slashed. Frustrated with its failure it joined up with its two friends and started to corner me to one of the sides of the square like tower. Slowly getting cornered didn't bowned well for me. So instead I opted for something more favorable, like making this into a one versus two instead of the tedious three. The wretched stench of the Kobolds breath caught my nose and made me gage. But I strengthened my mediocre resolve and allowed my instincts to guide me through this ordeal.

The wooden spear found its way into the mouth of my enemy to the right. It pierced right through its mouth with no difficulty. But the Kobold didn't die from the attack, but it was enough to staggare it. So I used its moment of weakness to push it towards another kobold and ran right past it. Thanks to me pushing the kobold, the kobold next to it could do nothing against my great escape. But my momentary advantage didn't end there, as I turned around and cornered them. 'How the tables have turned, as they say' I thought, watching their confused faces contemplating what just happened.

A visible smirk formed on my face, seeing their confused faces. But I didn't allow the moment of victory affect my performance and quickly struck the weakened Kobold, with a mouth leaking blood. My spear finished the poor guy and made this party a two versus one.

The kobold forced upon the burdensome of getting a kobold pushed at it laid on the ground. So I made it my prime target, but the other Kobold had different plans for me. As I approached its downed friend a claw graced my face. I just barely managed to avoid certain death through quickly evading when I felt pain.

The Kobold frowned seeing me get away from its mighty claws with but scratch. But it ultimately stayed with its friend until it got up.

The duo approached me quickly, this time they had no plan to let me use any unhinged methodes. But they didn't account for the oldest trick in the book. I stepped to me right and ducked, evading the closest Kobold's claws with ease, then I raised my legs in front of the Kobold and it tripped. As the unfortunate Kobold was downed for a second time, I gave it no mercy and claimed its life.

The last Kobold was a cakewalk and I killed it with no difficulty, no schemes this time. Each kill filled me with vigor and strength and by the end of the last kill I felt invincible. Killing four of those monsters almost doubled my strength.

With some seconds to breathe I checked on my friends. They seemed to be doing relatively well, my friend Ykrus did well and managed to kill most of the Kobolds alone, before getting knocked out. The rest were doing well too and soon the third and almost last wave would come.

~Pov Jantyr~ (Third person)

Lenart and the hunter were doing very well and it pleased Jantyr. His energy was skyrocketing and reached an all time high today. The constant slaughter of monsters didn't just help him, it helped the soldiers. While those greedy for strength gained the most, like Lenart and the hunter. While people like Ykrus also did well and gained a lot too.

The Kobolds and Goblin raid was over and the third raid quickly approached. This time it was a birdlike creature. It was similar to hawks, but only in wingspan.

Unlike the first and second raid the birds weren't stopped by the wall and they just flew over. Hundreds of birds flew over the village and pooped at the people, the first man to get poop on him got the pleasure of realizing that the poop was acid and after that the village entered a frenzy. People ran to take cover, some even abandoning their posts. While that was happening Lenarts friends woke up to the female screams from the men.

Except from some occasional swooping from the birds nothing major happened. Just some man losing half his head, nothing else. Then came the second wave and Jantyr wasn't looking forward to this one. This wave would test his patience and his walls. The walls the people worked hard on to make, via his instructions.

The deity sighed and watched an animal he was very familiar with from his old world. Making it the second animal he recognised from earth. A wolf and now a rhino.

Thousands of rhinos ran toward his village. Many would smash against the wall and have to reroute, but he feared how many would and if his wall would stand strong against such a mighty foe.
