Prologue

College girl Amelia just got contracted as the new boarder of the vacant apartment room 122. Her neighbors couldn't believe that she actually chose the rumored haunted room in the entire building. A few months before it's vacancy, one girl died on the same apartment room due to unexplained things. But that seemed only silly to the naive Amelia. She wasn't sure if that's even true, what's important is that the rent's price a month is affordable for her and that this building is just a few walks away from the university she is enrolled in.

When she arrived early in the morning, as the landlord gives her the keys to the room, she was welcomed with rather exciting news.

"Someone will move in tomorrow as well in this room. No worries, the apartment has two bedrooms so you don't have to share a space." The old man muttered while smiling. Amelia feels nervous yet excited, having a roommate would mean having someone new as a friend whom she can share with her life experiences and school dilemmas with. That's what she thought.

When the landlord left, she immediately opened the door to her new apartment. She was welcomed with a nice ambiance and cozy atmosphere, different from the rumors she heard.

The living room is huge enough for her and her roommate so maybe she could invite her college friends over some other time. Behind the living room is a hall that leads to the bedrooms. Amelia opened the door on the right and saw how neatly the room has been arranged to. The queen-size bed is beside a medium-sized closet and on the other side is a door that leads you to the bathroom and the toilet. The room has wooden desk and a swivel chair but Amelia didn't like the window since it is facing the building next to their apartment room so she decided to check on the other door. When she opened it, Amelia immediately decided that the room on the left is going to be hers. The cream tiled floor is pretty plus the bedsheets on the queen-size bed is in terracotta shade which is her favorite. Weird coincidence since she was thinking of shopping so she could buy a few stuffs like pillowcases and blankets.

The room has the same stuffs as the other bedroom but what makes her choose this one is the balcony. The room has a small balcony with white coffee table and two chairs. You can see the entire city on it, a must view that Amelia wanted. So she settled in and opened her huge luggage. She unloaded her clothes and shoes and placed it neatly on the closet. She checked on the bathroom and toilet to list down things she needed to buy.

She changed to maong faded shorts and a pastel blue sweater and wore a pair of slippers before going out of the bedroom. Amelia checked every corner of the room especially the kitchen area. There's a huge island where they can dine including a huge long table with six chairs. Amelia decided to go out and shop for things and then go buy a few groceries. Since she's earlier than her said roommate, she'll have to buy at least the groceries for them.

She grabbed her purse, her student ID cards and the keys of the room before she left. She went out of the building and walked just a block away on the street. There's a huge convenience store on the side and a bookstore next to it. Amelia decided to buy the things she needed for school. She grabbed two notebooks and some stationary kits, she also grabbed pens in black, blue and red. Amelia was about to go to the counter when she saw a rack of novels. She decided to check it out and decided to grab one book just to avoid boredom before the school year starts.

After paying, she went inside the convenience store next to the bookstore. She grabbed a basket and stacked it with foods. She picked out a few meat and fruits. Most importantly, Amelia picked up a few packs of noodles and instant noodles. She hates cooking so she'll just ask for her roommate to cook for them.

When she got home, she noticed that the door was unlocked and opened. Her eyes widened and she panicked instantly. She grabbed a stick before slowly walking inside. The living room is empty and so is the kitchen area but she heard a small noise coming from the bedroom on the right. Slowly she put the groceries on the kitchen counter and tiptoed near the bedroom. The door on the right is slightly opened but when she took a peak, she saw no one. She pushed the door wider and her eyes widened when she saw a man standing near the closet, half naked. The man turned to her and Amelia got goosebumps by his intense stare.

"W-who are you?" Amelia asked, shaking. She can't move. But she gathered all her strength and attacked the man with a stick she was holding. "Get out of here!" She muttered. Amelia hit the man's arm while trying to shield himself from her attacks.

The stick broke and in a slow motion, it dissolved into thin air. She was more surprise but when the man walked swiftly and pushed her out, the man gripped on her neck and choked her. She was lifted off the ground so easily that she can't think straight of what's happening. The man's eyes turned red but his stern face remained expressionless.

"Who sent you?" He asked. His deep voice made her pale more. Amelia was suffocating but she tried her best to grasp some more air. "Who sent you?!" The man demanded.

Amelia's sight turned blurry when she can't breathe anymore. The last thing she remembers is the soft knock on the door and the landlord's voice before everything went black.

"Yes. I checked everything, Mira. She's just a kid."

Amelia woke up when she heard muffled noises. She can't move, she feels like her sould just left her body.

"I was about to but the landlord interrupted." The man's voice became clearer to Amelia's ears now and with that she jolted upwards and her eyes sprung open.

She immediately saw the man on the balcony of her room, talking to someone on the phone. Amelia in a panic, immediately went out of the bed and walked towards the door but before she can even leave the room, the door shut and she was pulled by an unknown force back to her bed.

"I'll talk to you later. She's awake." The man said, cutting of his conversation on the other line. Amelia's hand started shaking and her legs felt jelly when she heard the footsteps coming closer.

"Iris Amelia." The man spoke her name. She looked up and saw him reading her class card.

"W-who are you?" Amelia whispered but the man stared at her, she's sure that he heard her. "What are you?" Amelia asked braver this time. The man put her paper on the desk and walked closer. He crouched down so they could see eye to eye.

Those red eyes were hypnotizing but the intensity of it is burning her soul, she can't breathe properly again.

"I'm sorry. I'll leave." Amelia whispered. She was about to stand up but the man stopped her, she froze on her steps.

"I'm sorry but I can't let you leave." He muttered, monotonously. "You see, I have to live here and pretend to have a normal life. No one has to know about me." He whispered on her ear. She shivered and it traveled on her spine.

"I-I won't tell anybody." Amelia said immediately but the man smirked at her. "You can't tell anybody or you'll die." He muttered.

Amelia fell on the ground, on her knees with what she just heard. He isn't serious, is he? She thought. But she remembered the unexplained force the man have before she passed out. The way his eye color changed and his immeasurable strength.

The man pointed at a scroll on the desk next to her things and it flew directly across the room and landed in front of her. He gestured his hand and the scroll opened up. Amelia was going to faint of all the things that just happened but she tried her might to stay conscious.

"If you value your life, pretend that I'm just your ordinary human roommate. Sign it." He commanded. Amelia was hesitant. She isn't sure if she'll remain sane after all of these. The man offered her a pen. "If you talk about my powers, your heart will immediately be torn into pieces." He added. Amelia paled once more so she immediately signed the contract like scroll.

The man kept the scroll and it disappeared in a blink of an eye. He smiled, the kind of dangerous smile as he knelt in front of the stunned Amelia. The man extended his right hand.

"Nice to meet you, Iris Amelia." He muttered as if this introduction isn't useless. Amelia didn't move so he grabbed her arm and pulled her closer.

"This way, the contract will be sealed." He whispered before claiming her lips.

Amelia's eyes widened, she was taken aback but that ample time of a kiss awakened her sleeping subconscious. Oh. This is hell. She thought.
