4 The Heavenly Sect

*Crunch*

Ilis stepped out of the Depths. Most people would get turned around trying to make it from the Valley to the outer court, but Ilis had amazing senses. Better than most. This was because Ilis rarely opened his eyes so his four other senses naturally strengthened and Ilis even developed techniques such as sensing vibrations in the air and echolocation so that he wouldn't have to open his eyes.

Ilis opened his eyes and allowed them to adjust to the light. Contrary to what it may seem, Ilis could see perfectly fine, he just found the world to be a bit too bright and closing his eyes brought a lot more joy. Even as a mortal he kept his eyes closed so though his eyes were normal, his sensory detection was off the charts for most normal First Heaven cultivators. As one cultivates it becomes harder to change physical senses, though this could be supplemented with treasures or spiritual sense so even in other heavens Ilis would be considered ahead of the game.

After adjusting Ilis looked around. He didn't need too, but he enjoyed the colors of the world that could be seen with his own two eyes and he rarely opened them to take in the sights. For whatever reason, people got really uncomfortable when he opened his eyes so he kept them closed around others especially. It wasn't a problem.

Generally, Ilis was cultivating. If he wasn't cultivating he was playing hide and seek or qi infused catch with the spirit beasts that normally were there. If he wasn't doing that, he would help out with taking down the rowdy or vicious spirit beasts that would occasionally wander near. Towering Bear, also known as Oslo, and the others resided in this valley because they had intelligence and most of the intelligent spirit beasts and animals that live in the outer courts hunting grounds resided there. Drawing attention to that place was not welcome. This trip would also serve to see if anybody had caught wind of the valley as well. Ilis always kept an ear out.

Ilis walked towards the buildings that he could just make out on his right. He could already tell who was there and, as he closed his eyes again, he smirked as he recognized the presence of the familiar receptionist that was the only one who remembered his name.

As he drew closer, he could hear the familiar catcalling and flexing of the disciples. They still hadn't changed. Arrogant young masters and thots were everywhere. People trying to make connections with people from well off families. It was annoying.

"How dare you?!"

Ilis paused and looked to his left. He had entered a courtyard that surround the H Center. In front of him he saw (Even though he isn't always using his eyes I'll just use this verb. It makes no difference) one of those arrogant young masters surrounded by his lackeys confronting a young female disciple.

The disciple was pretty, with peach colored hair and well rounded breasts. Her face also possessed a certain charm though she couldn't be considered a heaven defying beauty by any means.

"Do you have any idea who I am?!"

Though he said this he still didn't say his name.

The girl just nodded and apologized.

"I'm sorry. I really can't give you an answer right now. Please give me some more time!"

She bowed her head. It was the best answer she could give without directly causing offense. she had been bothered for too long by this guy and honestly just hoped to get strong enough to defend herself before he lost his patience.

One of the lackeys of the young master, much to her chagrin, had had enough.

"It is an honor and a privilege to be by the young master's side!" he proclaimed before moving to grab her arm.

But before he could, a rock flew from the side and pierced his shoulder.

"Argh!" he yelled and collapsed.

Using this as a distraction, the girl bowed and scurried away, but not before looking towards the direction of where the rock was thrown from. The rock had had qi infused into it, not something an outer court disciple would know how to use without special training, but there was no one there.

Ilis smirked as he slinked away. He didn't care for either party. While indifferent could be used to describe his demeanor, it was much too cold of a word. Unbiased would be more accurate. He didn't care for the world in the slightest. He simply wished to pass the time as interestingly as possible. Loud, emotional, or arrogant people had no place near him. This was why he enjoyed the spirit beasts company. They couldn't talk to him, but he could still sense their general emotions and have a conversation or play if necessary. But they also respected his personal space.

Besides, hitting that simp with a rock would outrage the young master who would look for the culprit to no avail and stir up the outer court without really harming anyone, but the annoying ones. Ilis considered himself an agent of chaos. Though he stayed out of the limelight, he loved causing minor acts of mischief.

Ilis entered the H Center and walked directly towards a familiar receptionist.

"I'm still alive. Don't sell my sh*t."

"Nice to see you too."

The receptionist looked up at the voiced with an exasperated look on her face. Her name tag clearly read Kay. She was the sect elder from the Illusory vs Heavenly meeting. Though she also ran the outer court test, something that would take place in a week, she also enjoyed her job as a receptionist here at the center.

"Got any news."

Ilis drawled lazily. One might look at him as being disrespectful for talking to an elder like that, but she had already gotten used to it. Kay was at a relatively large height, with large breasts and straight black hair. She had sharp intimidating eyes, that contrasted with her kind aura and slight smile.

"Glad to see you're still alive. If it's news you want you could always ask one of your fellow disciples. You know, make some friends."

"Not my style nor within my interest. They're too... bleh. Loud, clingy. You name it."

"*Sigh*, Well if you must know, the outer court test is taking place in a week inside the depths. Normally, we would wait for a year to administer another test, but we are kind of desperately looking for talents to train. The only problem is that Six Eyed Fire Wolf that has been rampaging in the Depths recently. A number of disciples have fallen victim. If it weren't for you being a cockroach, I might have been worried."

"Wow, thanks for the info. Oh, and I take that as a compliment." Ilis responded sarcastically before sauntering out. 'Six Eyed Fire Wolf hmmm... maybe I should ask the others if I should deal with that. Plus, the outer court test being in the Depths is not good news. Choices, choices. Oh well, I'll just go cultivate and return to the valley tomorrow to consult. The others should be back. I wonder if Mae will let me touch her tails?'
