The gem of Bennett's

He opened his eyes only to witness Alexander, who stood there holding Ohio." You blocked it ? " He said with his eyes wide open.

" I knew you were loyal to Alaric but I didn't know you were blinded by loyalty to such an extent that you would kill Ohio. "

" I-I...N-No...I-I didn't want to. I'm sorry Ohio. You can punish me for this. I'm really sorry my friend. " He cried, kneeling down before his friend, who couldn't stand his helpless state.

" I left the mafia hoping that history wouldn't repeat itself. If I was a second late, I wouldn't forgive you ever. "

" It's fine Alex, he didn't mean to kill me. He didn't have any choice. After all, I deserve this for the mistake I made today. Alaric could've killed that innocent if he-... wait how was he sure that it wasn't Letty? He hasn't seen Letty yet."

Ohio finally had got he clear picture of everything.

" It was hard to believe when Max said that you changed, but it looks like you became a dumber version of yourself, Ohio." He snickered, looking at Ohio, who was flabbergasted by the duo.

" So, I was the only one who didn't know, huh? Then who is that girl? " Since he regretted accusing Cassandra and if there was a chance, he wanted to apologize for his act.

" Alex's to be girlfrie-- Ah ! c'mon dude." Before Maxence could complete his sentence, Alexander landed a hard punch on his abdomen. " Stop playing around and run to Alaric. Uncle will be rescuing her and my men might have started a ruckus there. "

He turned towards Ohio. " Come with me, I need your help. " Ohio nodded to his response and the three parted their ways.

Meanwhile, Alaric became alert of the sudden commotion. " As expected, his ways never changed, huh? " he said, seeing the number of people surrounding him, and looked at Cassandra, who was staring at him with vengeful eyes.

He knew this was all a play and decided to go along. He pulled her up and directed a gun towards her forehead. " Drop the act, old man. You and your sneaky little ways won't work on me."

Mason came forward in his response. " Leave her Alaric, she has nothing to do with this. She is just an innocent you mistook for " he said, controlling his inner rage.

" Oh c'mon I'm tired of playing nice. Let me get it straight, Damion must have triggered you, am I right? " Mason's face became pale hearing his name, which was noticed by Alaric, and proceeded.

" I would have settled everything if you stopped meddling in my business, but no, you chose violence. In that case, I have no choice other than to clear those thorns in my path."

Cassandra's mind was filled with fear as his fingers neared the trigger, but then her fear vanished on hearing a husky voice " Do it ", Alexander said through his earpiece. In a matter of seconds, she opened the rope tied to her hands and signaled her professor.

Taking the chance, Mason's bullet pierced right through Alaric's right arm. He gestured his men to take care of the rest. They went downstairs and saw guards fully armed in a circle covering someone.

Among them they saw familiar faces of Alexander and Maxence, but it was emotionless. They came near them as they parted their way. Mason froze at his place, seeing Ohio lying down unconscious.

His breath had stopped. Surrounded by blood, he couldn't stand there looking at him. On the other hand, Alexander had tied Maxence so that he wouldn't get caught when things get back to its place.

" He will be alright... H-He is just unconscious, right?.... H-He..w-will wake up again, won't he? " Alexander's dry voice rang in her ears. She looked at him as he kneeled down.

His clear tone was undercut with a choking heaviness that forced him to pause several times. His watery eyes closed and a single tear as clear as spring flowed down his cheeks.

Eventually, he stopped trying and lowered his head in a quiet sob. Cassandra had never seen this side of Alexander ever before. She concluded that the person lying dead must have meant much more to him.

" He wanted to apologize for telling all those in the room." Maxence said, looking at Cassandra, who now realized that it was the same man who spoke to her after being captured.

Ohio. A loyal high-ranked Mafioso, the best brother and best friend of Alexander ever since high school. Maxence was sobbing, clutching his clothes tightly. Cassandra didn't realize the tears had made their way out on their own. Mason's silent tears couldn' be ignored. While Alexander was now staring, numb with the news of his friend.

This is life. You never know if someone will come back home after he has left in the morning for work or not. You just hope for good, assuming the best, the positive ones. But life is all about surprises.

Just when Alexander thought everything would be fine, going as per his plan. He lost Ohio. Everyone lost Ohio. His body was still, his eyes closed, his skin was gradually turning dark. What made them more furious was that his death was not natural. He is murdered.

" Alex...Alex !" Mason snapped Alexander out of his intense thinking. He was crying while saying time would fly, wounds would heal, but would they?

For Alexander they may, but for Maxence? He had lost his only childhood friend, his only brother, the only person he called proudly ' his ' in this world.

Cassandra was staring at Alexander and her professor. It had been a week since they saw Ohio lying numb. Today was his funeral. Even though many arrived, they were waiting for Maxence to appear.

All who came gave their consolation to Bennett Mafia, for losing the second gem of Bennett's after Heath, the father of Bennet Mafia. All the guests had left when Maxence made his way towards the grave.

They were staring at the grave like Ohio would wake up anytime. But he is gone. Now, only his pictures, his memories would speak, not him. He was all over the news, a billionaire who lost his life rather mysteriously.

To the other world, Ohio was the right-hand man of Alaric who owned the J N constructions. The police came for the case but Alexander refused to get their help. He said he was good enough to find the culprit.

Cassandra sighed heavily and went near them. " It's getting late. You should go back home. " she said, and surprisingly he nodded.

" You all should head back home. I'll come back a little later." Maxence replied. All could see how miserable Maxence had become. Even in that condition, he could do nothing but remain in the mafia. He wanted to avenge his friend's death.

Alexander was about to stop him but Cassandra stopped him and pleaded him to leave Maxence alone. As far she saw, he needed some time alone to cope up with things.

Cassandra was worried enough, so she decided to drop both of them at their home. Reaching his place, Mason asked Cassandra to take care of Alexander for a while, since he wanted to be alone.

She could understand their pain and so she nodded assuring. Shockingly enough, Alexander was hesitant to get inside his home instead he pulled Cassandra towards him and embraced her in his arms.
