Chapter 14 THE RESCUE

Daniel called out to the voice in his ears that guided him to that space. “Where are you?” Crouching on his knee upon the tallest stone on the ridge he landed on, Daniel rubbed his fingers together as he felt Rosemary nearing.

Before he even saw them with his naked eye, his mind heard the beating of the hooves on the ground and the faint heartbeat that reached out to him. “There you are.”

When they finally appeared from the other side of the hill, Daniel closed his eyes and reassured the little one they would be together soon. “I’m here; it’s alright now.”

“Are you sure you don’t wish to turn back? It’s a long road ahead of us.” Not even a single day into their journey, Rosemary’s body ached from the hard seat underneath her, and as she stretched away from the soreness, Uzzi wrapped his arm around her to provide the little comfort he could.
