Chapter 2

I pulled up at school a few minutes before the bell rang. I parked in my usual parking space and teens are just lounging around like usual but this day feels like anything but usual. I walk up to my friends who were dutifully waiting for me by the front entrance " Hey girls " I greet them " Hey Rose " they replied and I hugged them ,separately because apparently they don't like to share. We went to class since we all had the same class first period. " BTW happy birthday Rose " says Angel and Susie hisses in anger " Didn't I tell you not to wish her " she says looking around to see if anybody heard, luckily not " I don't see what the big problem is " says Angel shrugging " Both of you know what the problem is which is why everyone thinks my birthday is tomorrow so just keep quiet please " I say and they nodded but started to feel guilty " After school okay " I say looking at both of them and they nodded more enthusiastically and I smiled to myself they are very easy to please I say to myself and shake my head. Lost? Okay let me explain , 17 years ago on the 9th of February 2003 was the first blue moon in over 1000 years and the same moment the moon was completely covered at exactly 23:59 a little baby girl was born from what was said the most complicated pregnancy that the doctors have ever known, apparently it was a double miracle as both my mother and I were suppose to die, my mother was in labour to long and she was way to exhausted to even have the energy to push me out and according to records my heart slowed to such a pace that they thought I was dead 5 times, still it picked up just a bit everytime but on the 5th time the moons rays hit my mother through the window at an impossible angle my heartbeat picked up and my mother pushed me out and both of us are safe. Due to this story my entire family thought it'd be better if the world thought I was born on the 10th February and only the doctors and us know the real story and the doctors agreed due to the fact that they were under doctors patient confidentiality and that they are family doctors, so on my 14th birthday my parents decided to throw me a surprise party and since it was the first day at high school they didn't expect me to being friends over and when I entered with Angel and Susie they saw when my actual birthday was and we convinced them to keep it a secret but they always celebrate with my family and I on my real birthday. My mom believes that my birth was special and that the moon protects me and that it and I ( or she as mom puts it ). I used to think it's a whole lot of jeberirish but now I'm not so sure. A lot of weird thinks have been happening ever since I turned 14 like wolves has moved here, here in Colorado isn't that weird, I'm sure it's them I hear them at night when I look out the balcony toward the forest out back "Earth to Rose" I break out of my revere to see both of my friends standing in front of me looking worried " What was that?" I ask "What were you thinking so deep about?" Asks Angel " Nothing just thinking about my parents and their surprise " I tell them and luckily they bought it and the rest of the day went by without any hassle just like your usual first day but I was still on edge for some reason. I said bye to my friends and told them the restaurant we would be at tonight.

I reached home my anxiety grew.

I went inside straight to the kitchen because I knew who would be there and I was right my brother Damien was there making lunch " Hey bro" I say with a smile, he looks at me with a huge grin "Hey birthday girl whattcha want for lunch?" He asked " The usual " I say and as I say that the words just sounds wrong but brush it aside as I look at my brother that looks like the perfect compromise between my parents looks with my moms warm chocolate brown eyes and my dads dusty brown hair and my dads smile that cringle at the eyes when he smiles giving him smiling wrinkles and has my moms and dads tanned skin while me in the other hand looks nothing like my parents I have dark blue eyes a slim figure with a lot of curve ivory skin and... what am I forgetting, oh yes I have long luxurious white hair yes white some people used to make fun of me but my brother would always bear them up and so they stopped. My mother always told us bedtime stories about a woman in the moon called the moon goddess and she said that from the way her grandma described her, she looked just like me especially with my eyes and hair and told me to be proud of my hair " Yo sis what's with the spacing out?" My brother said bringing me back to earth with two beef and mayo sandwiches sitting next to me and handing me one, I gratefully took it " Don't you feel like something's off today? " I asked him the question that's been bothering me whole day "Nah it's just the birthday jitters. It gets worse the older you get " Damien says between bites and I eat slowly and nod but he's words does nothing to calm me and I think he sees that cause his next words surprise me " Look if it will make you feel better I'll skip practice today and spend it with you, how's that sound?" I looked at him with shock but it quickly turns to gratefulness as I smile flashing my teeth " That sounds great Damien thanks " Anything for you little sis " he says and we ended up watching Netflix whole afternoon
