"So someone, or something, came here tonight, killed the forest guardian and injured a demon, or the demon killed them?"

"Why?" She asked.

Dimitri murmured, "It's possible that it was a demon in search of valuables that was caught off guard by the guardian. Or even one seeking vengeance." Dimitri added.

"Or seeking the lagoon?" Blanca agreed.

"Shit! Why didn't I think of that? Of course, it's a demon who is after the lagoon-"

"But?" Blanca grumbled under her breath.

"But, how about the witch that you sense?" Dimitri finally asked.

"That I don't know."

She met his gaze squarely. "It's possible, but you don't think it was a group of witches? or someone seeking vengeance?"

"No." His beautiful features were hard in the dim moonlight. "The timing of the attack is too much of a coincidence. I think whoever is hunting you returned to this clearing."
