38 Weird Weird

After a while she decided to sneak out not wanting to wake her new boss up from his slumber. But just as she stood up, the slight noise bestirred Elliot from his slumber. He wasn't in a deep sleep to begin with as he had fallen asleep not long ago. How could he when there was a beauty right opposite him?

"Where are you going? Wait for dinner. After that I will drop you off as you won't be able to hitch a cab here." Elliot said in a groggy voice as he got up from the sofa.

"Okay" Rain said after giving it some thought. He was right that there were no cabs around this place so she might as well grab the offer.

"Then do you know how to cook?" asked Elliot. "Ah! You saw earlier that I gave a day off to all the servants and I don't know how to cook" Elliot said scratching his head.

"I don't know either" came a curt reply from Rain.

"Then…. Let's go to a restaurant then" Elliot said with a sheepish smile.

"Sure" answered Rain.

After having a sumptuous meal at the restaurant, Elliot dropped Rain to her apartment. He looked on as she walked inside the building and waited until he saw the lights in her room light up. At that moment he decided to give his assistant a bonus for allotting the apartment facing the road due to which he was able to tell when she reached her home.

At the same time, Rain was also having a inner turmoil in her heart. She had never felt this way. Never. Her heart was pounding like how it would after she had an intense workout but that was what bothered Rain. She had not exercised at all. Kai had even taken a half day off which cut down her usual workload to half due to which she was in a relaxed state all day. But the same could not be said about her heart.

Elliot's peaceful sleeping face reminded her of the dog that she owns. And that picturesque was what was scratching her heart since then, making her to have increased heart rate. She did not know if there was something wrong with her.

Not being able to take that itchy feeling anymore, she made a call. "Dr. Rishi? Where are you?" After confirming that the doctor was in his laboratory and not with any of her brothers she continued, "I think there is something wrong with my health."

"What happened?" came an alarmed voice of Dr. Rishi.

"I feel weird," said Rain. "Like weird, weird. You remember, back when I adopted Alpha? I felt an itchy sensation when I saw him asleep for the first time and you said that It was feeling because I loved the dog. I am having the same sensation." Rain asked innocently.

Dr. Rishi laughed."It's because you love dogs Rain. You may have the same feeling when you see other dogs. You don't have to worry dear." Dr. Rishi's voice held a tinge of smile.

"But that's exactly what's bothering me Dr. Rishi. I don't think I am having this sensation because of a dog. Infact, I haven't seen a single dog for weeks now. And beside that itchy sensation, my heart is also beating fast. Like how it would after a intense workout but I did not do any workout today." Rain was confused.

Dr. Rishi was alarmed. "Rain, when did you feel such thing? Who was with you when you had this feeling?"

"Today. I felt it today. Kai, My new boss took a half day off today....." and then Rain narrated the entire day's events to Dr. Rishi like an obedient child.

"And Dr. Rishi there is something else. Recently I found myself often nagging Kai about his daily life activities. Like how Zed and Alex nag me. And I don't feel any restraint talking to him either, unlike how I feel with other people. Remember how It took me about an year to speak unrestraintly with you despite your therapy? But with Kai, it did not take that long." Rain sounded just like a cold but confused child, who would not show any expression.
