Engaged?

Chapter Four

"Ryan, this is your Fiancé Bella, Bella this is your future husband Ryan." Staring at the girl who looks like a replica of the woman I imagined I stand and give her a warm smile while my eyes look her over. She has long dark brown hair framing her perfect tanned oval face with almond-shaped greens eyes, and a small nose. She looks young like me but I don't know what age Leo decided to make her. She's wearing a maroon dress that cuts off right above her knees and has on an all-black bracelet with a golden stone embedded in it. Leo has the same bracelet with the same golden stone embedded in it.

Going down to one knee Bella bows her head. "King Leo, Lord Ryan, you grace me with this opportunity I won't disappoint you." She says dutifully, making me smile and glance over at Leo who looks unfazed by her announcement. Power, this is what real power looks like.

"Rise Bella," Standing Bella stares up at me and smiles. "Why don't both of you go to the balcony and get to know one another while I prepare some of your engagement gifts." Leo announces with a large smile.

"That's a great idea." Taking Bella's hand I lead us through the hotel passing a small indoor waterfall making it to a sliding glass door. Opening the door I let Bella walk through first and watch as she walks with perfect posture to the glass rail that prevents normal humans from a certain fatal fall. Walking outside I slide the door shut before walking to Bella and join her in staring out at the city.

It's weird looking at this city and seeing it in one piece. For me, it literally was just the other week I was in a firefight in this very city but now I traded that warzone for another. I'm not complaining in the slightest the thrill of battle is unbeatable.

Staring down at the people walking the streets I look away raise my hand and watch as red sparks of lightning dance in the palm of my hand. My human life is gone, it died when I died. I have superpowers, my brother's a god, hell I'm even an uncle now. Letting out a small laugh of disbelief I glance to my side and immediately stare into Bella's green eyes. This might be a big change but it's I'm not complaining.

"What do you think?" I ask, smiling one of my best smiles.

"You're perfect," she says confidently, staring deeper into my eyes. "What do you think about me?" Her voice wavered, she sounded almost nervous. In life, there are the people who get hung up in the past and get left behind in times of change, and then there are people like me who thrive when change comes.

"You are everything I imagined," I say sincerely, enjoying the rosy blush that comes to her face.

"Good you don't know how much that means to me." Turning away Bella begins to walk along the balcony staring over the ledge following shortly behind her as my eyes look at her body in a tight red dress that perfectly outlines her curves. "What is this place called?" She asks, looking back at me with eyes filled with interest.

"We are in Chicago, one of the major cities of America. I lived in a city similar to this one with my family when I was younger before I was deployed for war." I say matter of factly while gazing over the ledge staring down on the humans below.

"You were only ten when you were deployed with King Leo were you not?" Stopping before I can bump into her I look down into her green eyes filled with curiosity.

"Before I answer your question, what exactly do you know about me?" Leo has always had a flair for the dramatic which is why I'm quite curious to see what he's done with our dream after being given the power to make it a reality and no one to tell him no.

"Well you're a hero, without you King Leo wouldn't be alive and there would be no empire. Only before the World Hop, you went missing and it became one of our main goals to try and find you. King Leo created a whole division to travel to different worlds in search of your soul. My Lord, people celebrate your name almost as much as they celebrate King Leo's. Hell, there are yearly parades to celebrate your return and to honor your contribution to the Empire." Turning her head Bella stares out at the city and I watch her face twist to one of disgust. "My Lord, everything in existence belongs to you. These humans are so fragile that with a single tap we could shatter their bones and puncture their skin. They should be bowing their heads and begging for their lives." Staring back out at the city I smile picturing the city burned to the ground.

"Almost all of that is correct. Humans were given their chance to prosper and time and time again they proved that they are unable to make a world of peace which is why Leo and I created the idea of a world without war and poverty. At the time an idea was all that it was and it's all that we thought it would stay as but I never went missing, I've been dead." Hearing Bella gasp I look back down into her green eyes staring up at me filled with shock and a hand over her mouth.

"I-I'm so sorry I didn't know." She sputters out, making me smile and shake my head.

"There's no need to apologize. Leo suppressed most of my memories so in my mind one second I was getting drinks and the next I was in my brother's arms." Watching as Bella's face softens she raises a hand and places it over my heart.

"That might've been how it was before but this is your new life. My Lord, you are too important and too strong to simply die. None of the nobles and especially King Leo would ever let you stay dead for long." Smiling at the thought I release a heavy breath feeling a weight lift from my shoulder. I am immortal, even if I die I can always simply be brought back just as I was today. Although I'd rather not go through this long process of being revived again so I'll avoid death.

"Well, that makes things much simpler." Before I continue a knock on the glass stops me and I stare at Leo who gives us a wave to come back inside. "We will continue this later and don't call me Lord. We are engaged so call me Ryan." Watching Bella give a quick nod I take her hand and lead her back into the hotel room where Leo is waiting standing in the middle of the now empty room with a smile on his face.

"Look at you two lovebirds, come in and take a seat." Watching a large red couch with an elaborate gold frame embedded with colorful gems appear from thin air. A Chair with matching decorations appears next to the couch that Theo sits on. Leading Bella to the couch we take a seat in the center with Bella resting her head on my shoulder. "I hope you're as happy as I am with the events that transpired today. To show my joy I hope you both accept these gifts as tokens of good luck, good fortune, and happy marriage." Clapping his hands an all-black rectangular box appears on the cushion next to us.

"Your good wishes are welcomed and greatly appreciated, King Leo." Sitting up Bella leans forward and takes the box, setting it on my lap. "You can open it Ryan," looking down at the box I glance at my brother and give him a smile.

"Thank you," I say before opening the box revealing two folded superhero costumes. It's his and hers set of matching black and silver suits. Handing Bella her suit I take out mine and unfold it. Staring at the all-black suit that looks extremely similar to superman's costume just in black and with a silver X instead of the S. Rubbing the paper-thin material between my fingers I try to see through it with my X-Ray vision but fail. Looking back at Bella's suit I try a second time with my X-ray vision but get the same result which makes a grin sprout onto my face.

"It's beautiful, thank you, King Leo!" Bella cries, hugging her matching suit close to her chest while Leo chuckles out loud.

"I'm glad to hear that you like it and please call me Leo, your family now after all. With these, your suits will be complete." Clapping his hands, two red pillows appear on the couch cushion, one with a beautiful large diamond ring on it and the other with a golden wedding band with a large glowing gold gem on it.

"Thank you, Leo, these are beautiful." Taking the ring I slide it onto Bella's ring finger with her doing the same to mine.

"These are the only gifts the two are getting until I take you home to open with the rest of the family. I'll be back to get you two in twelve hours until then feel free to do whatever you please. I left you some briefcases with more than enough money to satisfy you for any normal human tasks, but don't be afraid to destroy anything." Standing up from his chair Leo claps his hands twice creating a thin glass portal in front of him. "Like I said twelve hours no longer than I'm going to come to get you." Before Bella and I have a chance to speak Leo and his portal vanish into thin air.

"Has King Leo always been this… abrupt?" Bella asks with a grin that I return.

"Actually no he used to be much more eccentric I think a family might've toned him down slightly." Bella chuckles softly before going quiet leaving us in comfortable silence.

"Bella, do you have any powers?" Looking up at me with a confused face she quickly nods her head. "Is that an odd question? Leo told me a lot about his family and his history but he didn't have a chance to tell me much about our people." Turning her body towards me Bella sets her costume aside and looks at me with a wide smile.

"I see, well it looks like you're in need of a history lesson. Twelve years ago after six months of training, King Leo created the people of this world and made them with the collective memory that he was their god and simply saved them from a dying planet. Leo blessed everyone on the planet with powers and shaped the world to be extremely militaristic so we can expand. That piece of information is only known by Leo, Liana, you, and me. The people are incapable of ever understanding, they are mere puppets in this world. As for my powers, I can fly, shoot lasers out of my eyes, complete regeneration, super strength, super speed, summoning which allows me to summon people and force them to do what I say. I can also heal, track, replicate myself, and…" Leaning in, Bella whispers the rest of her powers while I whistle in wonder at her strength. "What about you, you haven't even been able to test your powers yet have you?" She asks, leaning back.

"Nope but I can fly, shoot lasers out of my eyes, I can regenerate, I'm also invincible to most physical attacks, I can control the elements, I have x-ray vision, super speed, self-replication and…" Leaning in close I whisper the rest of my powers before leaning back enjoying the surprised look on her face that quickly rests to a small smirk.

"Those powers seem quite fitting for a man of your stature. Let's have a feast to celebrate your return, then we'll go and train your powers." Standing Bella floats through the air picking up the hotel room phone.

"A feast is perfect, order two of everything on the menu." Twelve hours is all I have before life continues to spiral even more outside the realm of reality. I'll be ready for it and enjoy it to the best of my abilities.

Hope you guys enjoyed next chapter will be out soon...
