1 Chapter _ 1 (The Sisters and Jishnu)

Chapter -1

Anushka threw the end of her lightish black striped sari over her right shoulder. A part of her velverty silver colored blouse with the circular cut around her neckline, showed through for a while.

"He's such a decent guy, " Anushka balancing a hairband in her mouth, told her elder sister, Akanksha, standing not very far away from her at the other side. She was putting on a sparkling black sari as well. Between the two sisters, Akanksha with her rimless glasses on, was the more serious type. "He didn't even bother to look at us!" Anushka exclaimed.

Anushka was pointing a finger at their father, Rajan, who had hiccuped a couple of times before entering his daughters' room. Finding them dressing up for the Rotara Show, he remarked:

"When you two are dressed up for party, let me know. I'd love to click some photos of these two gorgeous ladies in my life."

"Ok, Baba. But promise me you won't post them first thing in the evening on Facebook, " Akanksha told her father, biting her lower lip with her upper teeth, her eyes dancing. Both the sisters loved teasing their father for his passion of posting almost everything on this popular channel of the Social Media.

Once the girls were ready and waiting near the staircase, they called their father out of his room on the first floor. Rajan came out instantaneously.

"God! I really can't take my eyes off you two! " He said. Using the same tone, he cried, "When I kick the bucket, I'll have the satisfaction of knowing that I had had no hand in spoiling you rotten thoroughly." He was smiling from ear to ear, finding both his daughters turning out to be such beauties. He spent

the next ten minutes in taking photos of the daughters in different poses, near the entrance, in front of the altar room and in the courtyard.

"Baba, do it fast. We'd love to take some selfies in the rooftop before the sundown." Akanksha shouted out to her father from the corridor near the altar room. Then turning to her sister, she spoke again, "Let's not sit on the same step, Anu. You'd better sit on the step below and why don't you let you hair down for this one?" She asked her sister, pulling her closer.. Anushka, exactly two weeks away from her eighteenth birthday, acted on the hint. She shook her head letting her shiny, jet black hair down. From behind the camera, Mr. Rajan let out a sound of open admiration.

"Both of you look ravishing, my girls. The day is not far off when there will be a queue of eligible, handsome bachelors outside our house, vying for your hands. "

"What do you mean by 'your bands, Baba?" Akanksha asked her father, getting up from the step. I'm in no hurry to marry right now. Once I've a job, we sisters will stay together in the same apartment. "

"And get married to the same guy, right? He'll go to your room first before coming to Anu's next." He cut in. Both his daughters getting married to the same guy was a joke common amongst the three of them.

Later, Mr. Rajan and his wife, Sonia, who had been busy in the kitchen preparing dinner, joined the girls to watch an episode of "The Vampire Diaries" starring Nina Dobrev.

"Baba, you'll like watching Elena. She's so breathtakingly beautiful. You love beautiful girls, don't you?" Anushka enquired.

There was this scene going on the screen between the two brothers, Stephen and Damon.

"Here comes the bad brother. I love bad people, you know? He is so handsome!" Akanksha muttered as Damon handed back the ring to Stephen before knocking him out and down to the ground, shattering the windowpane in the process.

"Stephen is the weaker one, you understand?" Akanksha was trying to keep her parents updated. "He lives on animal blood while Damon lives on human blood, " she exclaimed.

After dinner, as Anushka went back up to their room first, Akanksha turned to her parents.

"Baba, just two weeks left to Anu's eighteenth. I've planned everything to the last bit. Good news is I called her childhood crush Jishnu this morning. He told me he'd try his level best to be here. "

"What is the lad doing these days? " Her mother couldn't help asking thinking about how crazy her younger daughter had been about that handsome charmer of a boy. Jishnu was in the Third Semester of the MBBS Course when he left the neighbourhood. Anushka was in standard ten at that time. Her madness for the dashing lad nearly became the talk of the town.

"He is a doctor working in the Peerless Hospital, " Akanksha replied, climbing up the stairs, making both her parents let out a whao.
