1 Monsters in the stadium

"I met someone and I want you to meet her but there's something you should know about her first" Rachel says excitedly.

"Oh, OK." Rachel's dad sits down.

"Her name is Rose, she's really sweet and I like her so much already."

Rachel looks nervously at her dad.

"I'm happy for you. When are we meeting?" John implores.

"Very soon dad" Rachel giggles.

I've been waiting for you to meet someone for a long time honey. Almost two years to be exact." her father smiled.

"What happened two years ago?" Rachel asks, looking at her dad.

"I went on a mission with your mother and three recruits. It was a simple mission to search an old dig site but we got attacked by a large nest of Creations."

Rachel's dad relays the story. "You were too young to go on the mission, but a few recruits went. They never returned."

"How did you escape dad? What exactly happened?" She wanted to know everything.

"I don't know. One moment we were on the mission and the next I was unhooking the trailer we were staying in and running for the nearest bunker."

John pauses and takes a deep breath before continuing.

Rachel sits down.

"When I woke up in the bunker, I was the only survivor." He pauses again and runs his hand through his hair.

"I'm so sorry, that's awful" She responds in a sad tone.

"I don't know why it happened, but I do know that the next time we go out I want you to take care of things." John adds as he looks up in the sky.

Rachel nods. This can't be easy for him.

"What were these creations?" She asks nervously.

"They were monsters, horrible abominations of nature." He pauses once again in thought.

"You are lucky to be alive," Rachel says bluntly.

He just nods and gets up from the table. "I'm going to go check on dinner."

Rachel takes a deep breath and exhales as he leaves. That was a pretty emotional moment.

Rachel gives a small smile followed by a sigh.

The next few days fly by.

They are running out of supplies and food.

Everything is running out of stock and they must do something to re-stock their essentials.

"We are getting short of supplies," Rachel says, shaking an empty jar.

He nods in agreement.

"I need to talk to you about something too." She says

He raises an eyebrow and waits.

"We need to find you some of those cybernetic eyes," Rachel adds.

His eyes widen at that idea.

"You mean like those electronic things?" He asks quietly.

"Yes, I know you aren't keen on upgrades, but we should give it a try."

She says swiftly.

"Ummm ok, if you say so." John replies.

"Thank you. Thank you so much, dad. We'll get them on our way back home then." She exclaims happily.

"But first we need to get food, supplies and scavenge anything we find, go get your things, we are leaving soon." John adds.

They head outside the house and get into the RV.

"Try not to worry too much about driving. I'll do most of it." Rachel says as she humps into the vehicle.

He nods in understanding.

They set off down the road.

They arrive at a clearing in the forest which leads to the old stadium ruins.

Rachel's Dad pulls over and exits. "Just wait in the RV. I'll be back soon."

"I'm coming with you," Rachel says in a loud voice closing the door of the vehicle.

He sighs and nods his head.

They begin to walk towards the stadium ruins.

Rachel begins exploring the ruins. She finds all sorts of things from medical equipment to clothes to food wrappers.

She starts collecting everything that might be of some use.

As they were exploring the area, they heard an alarm sounding and an announcement blaring from a speaker.

"Oh no," Both yelled at the same time as they locked their eyes in horror.

The announcement is saying that a creature has been spotted in the area.

"That's not good," Rachel says nervously.

John puts his hand on her shoulder. "Let's get out of here,"

They begin running towards the front of the stadium.

They head back to the RV just as the stadium begins to rumble.

The earth begins to shake, and they see a cloud of smoke rising from it.

"Run!!!" John shouts.

They begin running back to the RV.

The stadium begins to collapse from the inside out.

They get into the RV and shut the door.

Rachel looks out the windows and sees the stadium collapsing, burning and shaking violently.

"Get us out of here!" Rachel dad shouts over the sounds of the collapsing stadium and the earth. The shaking begins to rip the ground apart.

Rachel starts the engine and hits the accelerator.

They sit there for a minute in silence as they drive.

"We are so dead." John screams, closing his eyes.

Rachel speeds up.

They are safe after driving a few miles down the road.

There is no sign of the stadium or the creature.

"We just drove right out of the middle of a disaster!!" He says filled with joy and horror.

"We still don't have enough parts," Rachel says looking over at John.

"We're not out of the woods yet. The others might still come if they know about this." He says looking outside the window.

"Let's not worry about that" she looks out of the window.

There was no creature in sight and the sun came out from behind the clouds.

Rachel notices cars driving on the same road they are currently on.
