Mars missed Emmelyn so badly, and he only wanted her to come home with him. To the king of Draec,  nothing was more important than his family.

If, for example, Emmelyn refused to follow him back to Draec, Mars was ready to make the sacrifice to leave his homeland and stay with Emmelyn wherever she chose to reside.

Now that he had found her again, he would never ever let her go.  Even if it was to the end of the world, he would follow.

However, Mars only kept this to himself, since Emmelyn had expressed her willingness to come home.

"Yes, I will go home with you," Emmelyn affirmed her decision. "You or Harlow can have the relationship with your father if you two wish for it, but please don't ask me to see him and act nice. I cannot pretend like that."
