2 CHAPTER TWO: The visit of the demon

What the hell is this demon doing here?

And indeed, the demon is crazy. I looked at him and still without any emotion so he stopped laughing.

“Are you not afraid of me?”

Instead of answering his question, I asked him, “What are you doing here?” I repeat my question.

He lost his smile at me and then said, “I am here to get Acacia Adisson Lancaster, do you know where she is? If you tell me where she is then I won’t do something to you.” I was statued on my position. I felt like my heart are going to explode.

What does he need from my sister?

“Acacia? Who is she? There is no Acacia living here.” I said without any emotion. I must not let him see through me.

I thought it will work but he suddenly grabs my neck using his right hand. I automatically grab his wrist to fight but he’s just too strong for me. He’s choking me!

“Don’t fool me, kid.” He angrily said and looked at me with a fierce eye and continue what he is talking. “Her smell is still lingering here. Where is she or I’ll kill you.” He said and with the tone of his voice, I knew that he is mad.

“Why would I tell you if there is in case of an Acadil living here?” I bravely said.

Well said, Avabil. Anytime soon you will lose your life so go and protect your older sister. You’re useless anyway. I said to myself.

Ah, why is it now that this demon visited my house? Why now when I don’t have a taika when I am at my weakest?

I am afraid especially I don’t have taika right now but I don’t want to tell this demon where my sister is. I won’t let him get my sister. I felt like I am a teddy bear when he throws me away from his hand. My back met the pillar of our house and I bit my lower lip because I can feel the pain from my back. I can also taste the metal-like liquid from my mouth.

“So, what if I’ll take away your right eye? Isn’t it fun?”

I immediately feel the fear inside my heart. I can feel my fear but it will do nothing so I just put it aside. I let him see that I am not afraid of him.

“Even you pull my right eye out of its socket it will give you nothing. Because after all, there is no Acadil living here!”

He stared at my right eye and I can feel my heart beating so fast. So fast that it would come out from my own body. I am afraid that he would see right through me and will know the connection between me and my sister. I almost sighed in relief when he finally believes me and no more interest in questioning me.

He just smirks at me and said, “Make sure that you really did not know her, or else I will come back here not for her but for your head. Don’t fool me, kid.” And then he vanished like a bubble burst.

I cough when I finally relaxed and when I cough there is always blood with it, damn it. I will lose my consciousness but before my eyes went black, I saw my sister worriedly running towards me.

“Avabil!” I heard her cried my name.

Thank goodness, she’s okay.

And I closed my eye.

I opened my eyes when I felt that something dropping on my face but my eyes still can’t adjust to the sudden ray of light so I close it again and let my eyes adjust with the light. When I finally adjusted, I saw my sister’s worried sick face.

The only person who cares for me. The only person who always there for me.

“Good morning,” I said while smile.

Her eyes shined when it becomes teary and then she sobs and hugged me tight, “Oh my gosh! Don’t cry, big sister. I am still alive and kicking, okay?” I panicked.

“What happened? Why is our door broken and seems like it exploded and then the whole living room is a mess?!” she exclaimed.

“Uhm… because…” I can’t think of an excuse!

I think it is better not to tell her about what happened because she will just be worried about me. Yes, that is the right choice.

“Ah, there is a thief trying to broke to our house and I fought with that thief. I didn’t use my taika because he’s just an ordinary person and yet he’s much more profound in physical fighting. I did not manage to catch him.”

“Ordinary? There is no such person in this world. Why did you not use your taika?”

Ah, so much question, “Because I don’t want to.”

She sighed and then stand up, “Fine, I will prepare some food for you.” And she left me alone in my room.

I looked at the window and thinking if I really did the right thing. I never lied to my sister before and this is the first time but it is for her safety. I know that she knew that I am lying to her but she can’t do anything about it. If she knew about what happened to her she will just blame herself for it.

A whole day passed without something happened again and that was a good thing. I never told my sister about what happened last night and she did not ask me about it. But something’s telling me that I have to tell her for she had the right to know but I don’t know what to say and how to start.

“Avabil?” I looked at my older sister and I saw her worried face, “Is there something wrong? Is there a problem? You’ve been not on yourself since you woke up.”

“Huh? There’s no problem at all.”

“You can’t fool me, Avabil. I did not force you earlier but I know that something big happened here. You don’t have any reason to lie to me.” I gulped, is this what they called the head of the knight’s instinct? “What really happened last night?”

I avoid her gaze by looking at my feet and hugged my pillow tightly. I guess I can’t really hide something from my sister, she really knows me well and I can’t even protect her.

“What happened? Why is the denim looking for you? Did you do something to them?” I asked continuously and I saw her surprised expression.

She sighed when she finally recovers, “I guess I can’t hide it from you anymore.” She said and I violently looked at her.

“What do you mean by that?” I asked and I am wondering what she did to them. Also, a little bit annoyed.

I felt like there is no good news for me from her tone of voice. I have an ominous feeling about it. Denim is what we called a person from Demonioum. The people there were cruel, as the rumored said.

“They will after me because they want to kill me. I blocked their way to be here and I guess I hit their nerve so they came after me and I implicate you in this mess. It’s my fault,” She said while on the verge of crying. “I can’t let that happen. I won’t let them kill you nor hurt you.”

They already did, big sis. I wanted to tell her that but I control myself. I don’t want to add the burden to her shoulder.

“As if they can kill me,” I said and I rolled my eyes.

They can’t kill me no matter what they do. They will never lay their hands on me. Not even a single strand of my hair.

“Avabil,” she said with a low voice. “Denim is not weak; they are strong both physically and taika. They are stronger than you at this rate, they are well-trained.” It’s obvious in her voice that she worried about me. “Avabil, if something bad happened to me, if they really did something to me please go to the academy. They will help you to get stronger than you are now, they will also protect you at any cost.” She sincerely said.

I was annoyed by her statement so I glared at her, “What the heck are you talking about?”

He stands up from sitting at the edge of my bed and then she gets something below of my cabinet. It’s a small box. Wait, when did it come below my cabinet? I don’t remember having that box in my room. I know because I am the only one cleaning my room from top to bottom.

“Here,” she said, and then she gave me the small box and she sits again at the edge of my bed. “It will protect you from harm.” She added, “The thing inside that box is what Gramps gave me when I started studying at the academy and he said that it will protect me,” I can see the longing in her eyes. I know, she also missed our Grandparents also our parents. “It really did protect me so when something happens to me please do go to the academy and put it on your finger.”

I slowly open the small box and my eyes shined on how beautiful the thing inside this small box. I am well familiar with his thing. It’s a ring- our family heirloom.

“That golden ring with a heart-shaped ruby diamond- our family heirloom- will protect you from harm.” And she stared at me with a smile, “I’m always here beside you no matter what happened.” She added.

My forehead furrowed and I frowned, “What the heck are you saying? You seem like you going to leave me. Heck, as if you’ll leave me.” I cranky said but then I smiled at her because she’s smiling at me.

What’s this girl's problem? She always gives me smile whenever I asked her a question. Did she hit her head? My smile faded when I saw a person suddenly appeared on her back.

The demon from yesterday!

He smirked at me and I felt like my soul is taking away from my body! What am I going to do? My taika is still sealed. Sh*t, how did he know that my sister is here?!
