Chapter 3

"It's kinda weird actually," Moon commented. I just told her everything that has happened to me yesterday.

Moon was my newest friend in Saint John Hills Academy. We just got the title of being a Senior High School and I didn't think it was nice. I mean, we should be in college now but here we are, stuck as Grade 11 students. We still had one more year before entering college life.

"Do you think lycanthropes exist?" I asked curiously. My brows met in between my nose bridge while I was pouting.

"Maybe?" she replied, sounding unsure. "I heard werewolves do exist."

I looked away and contemplated. The thought of meeting a lycan made me cower. I never knew creatures from mythology can be real. Does it mean vampires also exist? Although they weren't from mythology.

"Have you met them once?" I asked as I met her eyes. She stared at me for a while then looked away.

I wasn't sure of that stuff. I never even had an interest in lycanthropes. The hell I care about them? I was a human... Or at least what I thought I was.

"Kit, I'm not sure but if you really think they exist in this world, prove it to yourself."

I groaned and rolled my eyes. My neck was aching, so was my butt. We've been in the canteen for ten minutes, talking about taboo subjects. I hope no one will report us because of this.

I sighed and propped my elbow on the table. I rested my chin at the back of my palm and stared at nowhere.

I once asked my mother about lycanthropes but she just brushed off the topic. She was trying to hide something from me. It must be a dark little secret that anyone will discover it might die horribly.

After we finished our food, we decided to go back to the room. It's already 10:20 in the morning and our class will start at any moment.

"It's so sad to think Melody isn't around." Moon suddenly said as we marched the empty hallway. I bet everyone was in their respective rooms now.

"Yeah." I jerked up. "She's not feeling well."

Melody was one of our friends. She told me early this morning she can't make it 'because she's suffering from a stomach ache. I even guessed it wasn't ordinary pain. She was moaning in the other line— like she's close to death.

I winced as my stomach hurt. I curled my arms around my belly. It was tormenting. The pang was slowly consuming my energy.

"Are you okay?" Moon asked worriedly. I gulped once and tried to nod.

"You go now," I said. "I'll just use the comfort room.

She watched me with her worried eyes. I smiled as an assurance. In the end, she sighed and nodded.

"I'll wait for you, okay?"

"Sure," I replied with a nod.

I ran towards the comfort room. I felt like my guts were shrinking. This was my very first time to feel this way.

I relaxed inside the room. I washed my face with cold water and let it dry on its own. There was still an excruciating feeling in my guts but it was not like I had earlier.

I took a deep breath in front of a mirror. I stared at my own reflection which stared back at me.

I had curly mermaid hair which was colored in Auburn. It was tied in a bun to make it look presentable. My hair was my greatest problem because I didn't know how to manage it.

I had freckles in my nose which I love the most. My lips were full and I have a high nose bridge. My father was a Filipino and my mother was an American netizen. It was a long story of how they met and fell in love with each other.

I took a deep breath while looking at my reflection. I was content with my life although I grew up without my father. The last thing I knew about him was he was in the army and he had to leave us for his mission. He didn't choose us which made my mother's heart shatter. But because she loved him so much, she let go.

A couple of seconds passed when I decided to go. Just in, someone twisted the door's knob. She opened the door widely and got inside.

I froze when our eyes met. Her hair was messy. Her lips were swollen like they were stung by bees. Her cream uniform was crumpled like she was raped.

Oh god. Was this girl just got raped or she meant to have sex with her fling?

"Hi," she greeted with a fake smile. "I thought no one was here so I got in without knocking."

I scanned her whole body. She was pretty. I assumed she's half Chinese because of her chinky eyes.

"O-Oh," I stammered.

"Gotta go?"

"Yup," I nodded.

"Good. Lock the door before you leave."

"O-Okay," I jerked up and walked past behind her. She smelled like a man and that made me think she was making out with a boy.

Just when I was about to close the door, I heard a low growl behind my back. My heart hammered abruptly and I found my body shaking in fear.

I gulped once and slowly turned around to face the stranger. I was so sure that he was familiar to me. I prayed I was mistaken.

I wandered my eyes around and a pair of silver-grey eyes met mine. My breathing hitched as my eyes snapped open. I even forgot how to breathe.

He looked brutal. His silver eyes were ruthless. There was a glimpse of danger in them, daring me to fuck off.

He has messy hair and some scratches on his tanned skin. I formed a hypothesis that this man and the girl I met in the comfort room were making out. Was it a coincidence that my stomach hurt and I met them here?

"Babe," a familiar voice of a girl called out. The silver-grey eyes tore his eyes off of me to turn to the girl. "Come here, babe. I'm itching."

I pursed my lips together, trying not to roll my eyes. They both were a grade ten students but already knew the word "sex". Unless they weren't ordinary people at all. They didn't care about the future.

I stepped backward and turned away. I was making a few steps when I heard a growl again. My heart was racing and beads of sweat were trickling down my forehead. I was at the edge of a cliff, searching for something to fall through.

And for the last time, I turned to them who were kissing each other. What made me feel dizzy was when the silver-grey eyes were on me. I panicked and had to flee for my life.

I stopped from running to catch my breath. I bent my body forward and propped my palms on my knees. I could feel the heartbeats in my apical, carotid, temporal and even radial site.

"What the hell was that?" I asked, panting. I raised my hands in the air to breathe in but it was no use. My whole body was shaking in nervousness.

"Kit?" someone called me out. I dropped my hands and turned around to face Willian.

He scanned my whole body and ran towards me. Curiosity was written on his face.

"Why are you still here?" he asked. "Did you just run a hundred miles?" he chuckled.

"Ahm," I looked over my shoulder. I wasn't sure if I was going to tell him the truth. I was afraid he'd call me crazy.

Maybe I was crazy for overrating things, I thought.

"You look pale. Are you okay? Do you want me to take you to the clinic?"

I gulped once and met his crystal eyes. Willian was a friend of mine back when we were in grade seven. We're not close friends but we talked like we were.

"N-No. I-I'm fine," I lied.

Willian shoved his curious eyes on me, looking for something. I abruptly tore my eyes off when I heard noises coming from behind him.

Willian turned his back at me. My breathing hobbled once again when I saw the two flings walking towards my direction— silver-grey eyes once again met mine.

"Hey, man." Willian greeted the boy. "Got another chick, huh?"

The boy didn't respond. He was just glaring at me like he wanted to crush me into pieces. Another growl escaped from his lips, making me cower.

"Oh, Willian." the girl interrupted. "You're so annoying."

I just watched them exchanging jokes. I was trying to smile with them but his brutal eyes were suffocating. His intensity was too much to bear.

"Gotta go, man," Willian finally said and stood beside me. I was caught off guard when he wrapped his arms around my neck. "Kit isn't feeling well and I have to take her to the clinic."

"I know what you're trying to say, Will." the girl stated. "Ninja moves, eh?"

"N-No," Willian grinned awkwardly. He brought down his arm and scratched his head. "I'm just being nice with her."

"Be sure with it," the stranger said in his baritone voice. It sent shivers down my spine. I felt like my organs wanted to explode.

"Ah," Willian snapped. "She's a friend of mine." he turned to me and gave me a tight smile. "Right, Kit?"

I furrowed my brows at him but he didn't seem to notice it. He was acting cool like trying to piss off the tanned skin man.

"So, you're Kit?" the girl clarified out. I looked at her straight and the man beside her.

"Marikit," I announced. "Marikit Dagohoy."

"Hmm," she nodded while pouting. "Nice name. I'm Gale, by the way."

She stretched her arms towards me. I shifted my eyes to Willian and he smiled reassuringly. I had no choice but to accept Gale's hand.

"N-Nice to meet you," I said but I was looking at her side. He was scowling at me and at Willian. He was beautiful, I must say. So brutally beautiful that it stung me just by looking at him.
